Chapter 5

Reluctantly, Lady Vera apologized with a sour expression on her face. Though, Annie knew better that the apology was just fake and nothing more. Infact, her expression revealed it all.

"But, Mrs Robinson, your daughter had broken the school rules." Mrs. Wilfred said with a serious look on her face. Though her beautiful smile wasn't there, her calm voice still helped to calm Annie's troubled mind.

"I don't understand."

"Your daughter fought with a boy which led the boy to the hospital." Lady Monica replied.

"But she's only five, I mean how can she fight someone to such an extent? I'm pretty sure they were just playing and the play escalated a little." Annie said bewildered. She had expected something but not this. Wendy is a stubborn girl who often liked to cause trouble or play around but never for once had Wendy ever fought with anyone. Obviously, something wasn't right and Annie could sense it.

"Do you need proof ?" Lady Vera asked. She knew Annie didn't believe so she took advantage of the opportunity and wanted to disgrace her.

"What proof ?"

"Proof of the crime your daughter committed". Lady Vera said indirectly taking Wendy as a criminal.

"My daughter committed no crime." Annie said angrily. "And I would love to see this so-called proof."
