19 STUPID BROTHER

As much as Jason and I wanted to fool around in the training center I still promised to give him a tour of the pack land's center.

"You guys have much less houses around the pack's center than in my pack." Jason remarked as he looked around.

"The only ones that actually live in this area are those with key position, the mateless, and the newly mated." I explained to Jason as we walked around, hand in hand.

"Where are the others?" He asked me.

"Most families prefer to live a little further off, more like human suburbs if you will." I told Jason.

I was sure he knew what I meant since most wolves lived peacefully with humans. They often thought that we were just some cult that lived in the outskirts of their towns and cities.

"Hmmm. . . We do things differently in my pack." Jason told me as we continued to walk around. "Almost everyone lives close to the center. I don't like my people being too far away in case there is an attack."

"I don't think you would need to worry about an attack." I pointed out as we approached my favorite coffee shop in town.

Inside I could already spot Ashley and Sage looking out the window, excited to meet my mate.

Before we even stepped out of the packhouse I had already mindlinked my friends to come meet us at the coffee shop.

As someone of Alpha blood I could send messages to other wolves in our pack aside from my family and they could mind link me back. Any wolf that was not of the Alpha line would not have this ability.

It was both a blessing and a curse.

'We see you.' Ashley said in a giddy tone in my head.

'They seem to be more excited than us.' Ares grumbled.

I knew Ares spoke a lot with Ashley's and Sage's wolves whenever we shifted, according to her Ashley's wolf was just as occasionally annoying as her human counterpart.

I pulled on Jason's hand, making him stop in his tracks and face me.

"What is it?" Jason asked, his concern evident in his eyes.

'He worries too much.' Ares pointed out. I couldn't help but agree with her. He seemed to think I would break or run at any moment.

"Why do you always look so worried?" I couldn't help but ask.

"I don't want you to be sad, afraid, hurt, or uncomfortable around me." Jason said. "We just met and I could lose you at any moment. I don't want to mess this up."

"Trust me, you aren't messing this up." I tried to comfort him as I got on my tiptoes and planted a kiss on his lips.

For a shewolf I was tall due to the Alpha blood that coursed through my veins, but male Alphas were taller, and Jason was the tallest I've ever met.

Even among the Alphas in the Council he was the tallest, towering over even my father.

"Sorry, what did you want?" Jason asked as he realized that I wanted to say something earlier.

"Yeah, right. Ummm. . .there are some people that I want you to meet and are eager to meet you." I said as I bit my lip, worried that Jason wouldn't like my friends.

'He will love them because he loves us.' Ares said in my head as she tried to boost my confidence.

I chose not to respond to my wolf and to keep my attention on my mate.

"Please don't tell me you want to introduce me to a former lover. I'm not that strong, darling." He told me as his forehead creased with worry.

"What? Why would you think I'd introduce you to someone like that?" I asked in shock.

"Well, Merrick said. . ." Jason began to speak but I shook my head in disbelief.

"Please don't listen to my crazy brother. And when did you have the time to talk to him when I wasn't around?" I asked, curious as to when my brother placed such stupid thoughts in my mate's head.

"When I was getting my stuff." Jason told me with a shrug.

"Please don't believe everything Merrick says. He's an idiot." I grumbled. "The people I want to introduce to you are my best friends." I said proudly.

"Oh." Jason said with an embarrassed look on his face.

"Yeah, oh." I said as I laughed at his expression.

'So our mate isn't as smart as we thought.' Ares said in my head as she laughed at Jason. 'His wolf is just as embarrassed by the way.' She added.

"Amaya, I didn't mean that I look down at you for having loved someone in the past, it doesn't even bother me." Jason said.

I gave him a confused look and raised an eyebrow at him.

"Wait, no don't take it the wrong way." Jason began to panic as he realized that I could misinterpret his words. "I love you, you are mine, but the past is the past."

I looked at him again as I tried to stop myself from laughing.

'Mate is panicking.' Ares said in an amused tone as we continued to let Jason speak.

"Oh goddess, why is this so hard?" He complained as he looked up to the sky.

"Jason, don't worry." I finally told him with a smile. "I understand what you are trying to say. I feel the same way. You are my present and my future, your past is what makes you, you and I love every single part of who you are."

"Thank you." Jason told me as he pulled me close and kissed me, sparking a flame inside me. I moaned against his lips, triggering his own arousal as I felt him harden against me.

"I can't wait for tonight." Jason said with a grin as he finally released me from his hold.

"Me too." I told him with a blush. "Are you ready to meet my friends?" I asked him.

"Yes." He said with a nod as we entered the coffee shop, hand in hand.
