Excerpt (Edited)

I halted my hands when I saw a box beneath the clothes. A brown box, I opened it and saw a black leather jacket. I pulled it out and it fitted Kevin's description. He was the one.

"Didn't I tell you it's a crime to go through another person's stuff without their consent?" I was jolted by a voice from behind. My heart palpitated as I turned to face him. I swallowed hard when I met his gaze. I quickly hid the clothes behind me. I forced a smile but he didn't buy it, he accused me with his eyes and walked in with the tray of food in his hands. He settled the tray on the desk.

I swirled to face him, praying he didn't see a glimpse of the clothes.

"I came to get to my clothes," I prompted and chuckled, nervously. I gestured to his wardrobe. "I'm surprised you still have them. I thought you would've thrown them away"

"Was planning to do that if you don't come claim them," he said coldly. I wriggled my nose at him in distaste. Rude as always. "I figured out you came here to find answers to the questions in your mind."

"Pardon? I'm not following." I feigned ignorance.

He gave me a brief look, scrutinising me with his eyes. "Why are you so interested in me?"

"Pardon? Interested?"

"Interested in finding out who I am, why do you care so much?" He questioned. "This is the reason I wanted you out of the house but you whined you had no place to go. One thing I hated is people not minding their business." He started towards me, trying to intimidate and scare me with the look in his eyes.

"Why do you keep crossing the line? Why do you keep breaking the rules I set for you?"

"Rules are meant to be broken anyways," I buckled my courage and faced him. If he's trying to scare me, I'm sorry but it won't work on me today. I faced him squarely. Maintaining eye contact with him.

"And why would you set rules for me like I'm some teenager?" I almost raised my voice at him. "How do you explain this?" I brought the leather clothes to his view, his eyes went a little wide at the sight of them but became serious again.

"You made Mr Johnson confess to his crime, didn't you? I have whacked my brain for anyone who could do that, but no one came to my mind. You were the only one I told that night, you were the only one I told he tried to sexually harass me so tell me you were the one."

He lifted a brow at me. I saw confusion displayed in the look he gave me. "I don't know what you are talking about, and I don't know any Mr Johnson and I don't care if you stay forever in jail or not."

He turned away from me and attempts to sit. I obstructed him with my arms stretched. "You don't have to deny it, you know. Everyone is saying some Travis guy did that but I haven't met any Travis guy in my life and all evidence point towards you. The bike and clothes. Tell me who you are."

"Nothing to tell," he dismissed the question and tried to push me off. I remained rigid on the ground, refusing to give in to his stubbornness.

"I'm not stepping an inch if you don't tell me who you are, your real name. If it's Travis or Toro. At least a thing about yourself, I can't tell a thing about you if my friends ask me. Are you an ex-convict, a wanted criminal, a serial killer...π‘›π‘œ π‘‘β„Žπ‘Žπ‘‘," I mumbled under my breath and lowered my gaze to the floor. '𝐼𝑓 β„Žπ‘’ π‘€π‘Žπ‘  π‘œπ‘›π‘’, β„Žπ‘’ π‘€π‘œπ‘’π‘™π‘‘π‘£'𝑣𝑒 π‘˜π‘–π‘™π‘™π‘’π‘‘ π‘šπ‘’ π‘œπ‘“π‘“ π‘Ž π‘™π‘œπ‘›π‘” π‘‘π‘–π‘šπ‘’.'

"Some demented....." I was shut up when he clasped his lips against mine. I dropped the clothes in my grip in shock as I processed what was happening. What is he doing? Why did he do that? Was he trying to avoid the questions by taking me unawares? I was completely caught off guard by his actions. Never imagined he would initiate this first. I mean he treated me like I was a leper.

"If you think you will shut me up when by doing this, I'm sorry - it's not working." I jabbed a hand on his defined chest to push him away. He never relented instead he pulled me in and pressed more on my lips. Why is so hard to figure this man out and what goes on in his mind? His arm snaked my waist as he pulled me closer to him. My body against his, my knees became weak and I couldn't seem to pull away even if I wanted.

His lips and his scent left me wanting more. I forgot completely the reason I came into his room. Drawn by his lips, I nuzzled more against him and circled my arms around his neck. Pulling him close, I invited him in and I let him explore my lips. Something about his kiss hooked me. His lips felt so soft and gentle on mine, and I felt my legs getting more jelly.
