1 Chapter 1: Relocation

The boy walked down the street at a slow, constant pace - he had all the time in the world on his hands.

The city was ginormous, full of pedestrians and vehicles alike, all going about their daily business. It was a mind-your-own kind of place. Head down, eyes up, keep it moving – always keep moving. That's how things had always been, and always would be. The boy walked home to his apartment, groceries in one hand, comics under his other arm. "Another boring ass day in this boring ass city with these boring ass people and shitty weather. *sigh,* Shit."

Uneventful. That single world described the boy's entire experience in life. Nothing interesting, no one interesting. "Damn, I better get home before it rains." As he walked up the steps into his apartment complex the sky darkened. He walked up the steps to his floor. He pulled out his keys and put them in the lock, turning the knob and letting out a sigh of relaxation.

Said relaxation was quite short-lived.

Sitting on his couch in the middle of the room was the one thing he hoped to never, ever encounter. A red eyed man with the pupils of a serpent, locking eyes with him in a grin that said "hello, dinner."

The boy dropped his groceries and ran. Booking it down the hallway and back to the staircase, he nearly tripped down the first flight as he jumped over multiple steps. "Shit shit shit shit. How did they find me?" he panicked, and could feel his heart in his chest ready to explode as he burst out the door to his apartment complex. He made a beeline down the street as a million thoughts rushed through his head. "How, how, how, why, how?!" he craned his head around to look over his shoulder, still keeping up his breakneck pace. The man with red eyes loomed in the crowd behind him, calm and terrifying, like a serial killer. His confident strut said "run all you want, your life is mine."

The boy turned the next corner and hoped he could lose his pursuer. "I knew it was a matter of time, but jeez, now?" They had always hunted him, just never found him. Thats why he was here in the first place. The whole point was to blend in. The whole point was that they wouldn't find him. And they did. They found him and now he was on the run. He didn't know what to do or where to go, he just knew his destination wasn't here. His home wasn't here. Not anymore. He was terrified. Terrified in a way he had never experienced before. "I'm dead. This is it. I'm 100% dead. Screwed. Filleted. Unzipped. Toast. Manure. Every pooch has been screwed. All the shit has hit every fan. I'm a goner." He ran and ran for what felt like an hour and finally came to an alleyway between two buildings. "Whelp, thats a wrap. Goodbye life. You were average at best."

Just then the door to one of the supposedly abandoned buildings next to him opened up, and out came a large hand, which promptly grabbed the boy over the mouth and pulled him in. "Nuhnih thuh fuhk-" he exclaimed while being abducted. The door closed behind him and the hand relinquished him as he turned around to face his assailant.

"who the-"

"shhhhh" said the tall, blond haired man, outfitted in a blazer-less business suit, tie and glasses. He was the size of a mountain, not only tall but strapping, a wildly imposing figure to say the least. "They found you."

"Leo?! What the eff are you doing here?!"

"Saving your ass, apparently." Leonidas's (pronounced Leh-yo-nye-dus) voice rang out through the room even as he whispered. He was large, muscular, and pretty much everything besides ugly that makes someone terrifying. In the past Leo had been a sort of guardian for the boy, and seeing his face in this time of struggle was quite a relief. "Its time to go home." Leonidas looked at the boy - down at him, to be precise- with an earnest look in his eyes. "Are you ready?"

"Uhhh, well lets see. I woke up, went out to buy groceries, came back and there was a FUCKING VAMPIRE sitting in my living room. Yeah, its time to go."

"Smart-ass." Drawing the katana on his hip from its sheath, Leonidas focused his attention on a concrete wall nearby. Taking a moment to get into a proper stance, he raised his sword over his shoulder and took aim. Stepping with his right and bringing the blade over his shoulder, Leo slashed the wall and opened up a portal to the world next to earth. "Time to go." The boy looked around him, making a face that said "I might just shed a tear," and then exclaimed "actually, fuck this place" as he stepped through the gate.
