Chapter 26 : Who's been teaching this brat!?

"Are you shitting me? Can you be any more late, you bastard!?"

Helena's hair whipped the air as she stormed her way inside the room.

'Woah, chill out...I mean, it's not like I'm the teacher.'

"Yeah, sorry about that. There's nothing I can do about it." I shrugged.

"What are you even studying anyway?"

"History. Sir Lodrick told me a lot about it, and it was interesting."

"You're kidding, right? Howard, is he trying to piss me off intentionally?" Questioned Helena, baffled.

Howard simply shook his head in defeat, begging to leave him out of it.

"I'm not kidding. The class was about history." I argued back.

"You're telling me that boring shit was interesting? A little brat like you?"

'The heck?' I could feel my eyes twitch in annoyance.

"Hey. I think we're the same age..."

"You're telling me for two whole hours you've been doing nothing but sit here and listen to that shit?" Ignoring me, she went on. "Wow! And I thought I was the weird one. Turns out this bastard is freakier than I am."

Hearing his sister's words, Howard's face crumpled, frowning at the seams.

"Fifth Princess, do mind your tongue. You are insulting the heir of Dawson right in our very house." Rebuked Alyson cynically. "Besides, my brother is not someone who is to be slighted by a mere Princess like you."

"Ho, how about this mere princess ran her reckless tongue for some more? What? Am I going to be found in a ditch somewhere the next morning?"

'Who's been teaching this brat all this shit!? Damn!'

"Well...Fate has many faces, and nothing is ever set in stone."

Taunted Alyson with a smile at the girl whose head resembles the gem of blood.

"Hahaha! Did you hear that, Howard? The other one is a freak, while the other one is crazy! I take back what I said to you about this trip being a boring one. This is so much fun! Oh, it is so much fun; my hands are itching to play."

"Okay, that is enough!" I strained my voice.

'This is going nowhere...' Things were heading south really fast, and what happened yesterday on Adam's birthday was about to happen again.

"Sister, please. I am trying to befriend them. I know you meant well, but I can't have you pick a fight with her every single time like this. Besides, I think everyone here knows she has a problem with her head and tongue. Just leave her be."

Yeah, even Howard was giving me that approving look. I was right.

"What's that, you bastard-"

"And you!" I cut her off. "Do you want to keep bitching, or do you want to see what you came to see in the first place?"

A simple and straightforward bait for a complex girl.

"...Fine. But you better pray they'll be worth it for all these bullshits I am putting up." Grunt Helena.

"Believe me, if I want to impress you with magic, you'll be surprised, Helena." I was just that confident after all.

"Hah! Look at you running your damn mouth. Okay, let's go."

She turned away, about to head outside. Howard cast me a sympathetic look as if I had just made a risky bet with the devil.

"Huh? Where are you going?" I asked.

"Where? Outside, duh!"

"Why outside?"

"Then where are you planning to show me Dispel?"

Helena raised an eyebrow in irk as she lost her patience. Then, she stared deep at me before speaking in a doubtful yet mocking tone.

"...Don't tell me you want to do it here? Hell, I don't have a problem but don't come crying to me if I burn your room, okay? I am not that good at pulling my punches, you see."

'She looks like she's about to kill someone...' I thought.

She really did though, to be fair.

"Sorry to burst your sadistic bubble, but we'll have to do some other things than you burning down my room since I can't get out of my room without permission from my Father."

"Why not?" Questioned Helena.

"Because I'm sick."

"Because you're sick? That's it?" Sneered her.

"Because I'm very sick, Helena."

"Ugh! Then what is this? Am I wasting my freaking time!?"

'Okay, better stop playing words with this little witch. Who knows what she might do if I keep messing around?'

"Not necessarily. I told you and Howard, didn't I? I'm going to show you something cool."

"But I want to see how the Dispel-"

"Float and land there. Keep me standing." I ignored Helena's whining and used the word magic.

"Woah!" Exclaimed Howard in surprise from the side.

"Use the wind to raise my right leg, push it slowly forward, and then gently put it down on the ground. Raise my..."

Using word magic, I did an awkward stroll around the bed. It looked so bad and broken...

Of course, if I wanted to, I could show them some of the flashier stuff, but I'd rather not. Besides, the whole point of me showing them all this wasn't so that they could see me moving like a broken doll. It was something more...

But before that, let us go back in time for a little bit, for the sake of context.

So, last night, on our special Fairy tale session, I had Renata teach me about some common sense regarding magic. I need it after all.

There was still a lot that I didn't know, but at the very least, I should know a little more for now.

Simply speaking, magic in this world also followed the principle of cause and reaction. When you feed mana into the medium which was the sigil, a spell would materialize as a result.

A kid would start their first venture in the world of magic by using the basics of spells, like water ball, basic levitation, and something along those lines. They were called Beginner Magicians.

Then they would graduate from those basic spells and begin to learn about something more complicated and also powerful in a sense. They were the Novice Magicians.

As for someone who has arrived at a stage where they could weave their own spells, magic was no longer simply about remembering sigils and spells anymore. This was when they would be crowned as Master Magicians.

But it didn't end there and beyond the Master, there was still a summit where one could strive to be the absolute best. A level so high and strength so powerful they could mold the landscapes if they wanted to.

The Saint Magicians.

Now, back to where we were. The bait I used was not the broken movements that I showed, but my level as a magician...

And apparently, I was a Master Magician. How there were no sigils, no incantations, and the most important thing...My huge amount of mana.

According to Renata, what was so scary about me was not only due to the fact that I was able to reach such a high level at such a young age. No, it was because of how I use magic.

She said that the degree of my versatility and also the level of control I showed was beyond amazing. There were not many Master Magicians out there who could wield magic as easily as breathing. They would have to spend years after years to create their own spell, lest using it in everyday life like I did.

"So you really are a Master Class Magician." Murmured Helena, staring at me dumbfounded.

"It is true, isn't it!? And we thought we just didn't catch you saying the incantations yesterday." Added Howard.

"Not that much, Howard. You see how silly I looked earlier."

"Are you kidding me!? That much alone is already outstanding, Alexander! I have met Master Magician before, and they can't even do something like this."

Praised Howard zealously.

'Would you stop with that look already, woman!?' Renata's figure bobbing her head with a proud smile from the edge of my vision was hard to miss. I actually needed to give her the look before she reluctantly stopped.

She's a headache sometimes, honestly.

"Thank you for the good words, Howard," I replied.

"No, you're being too humble here, Alexander. You surely must be the youngest Master Magician ever in history!"

'This punk just won't stop, is he?' I exhaled in reply, hoping that the excessive brown-nosing would stop soon.

Then again, maybe he took it as some kind of twisted signal of me wanting to be praised to the seventh heaven or some shit because he just kept on going.

"Even Helena here, who they hailed as the genius Princess, can't hope to stand a toe against you. I believe you can even go as far as being the Saint, Alexander. Ooh! Goosebumps!! I can't believe I'm standing in the same room as the future saint in the making. And he asked me to be his friend too!? Can you believe it, Helena-"

'That's why you never pluck the tiger's whiskers, you punk.'

I smiled wryly at Howard, who was in the middle of receiving his sister's deathly glare.

She then turned toward me, drowning in silence.

It was Alyson who broke the still air.

"Now, do you understand my words from before better, our dear princess?" She teased the girl as if she was enjoying every last bit of this.

"..." Helena, however, never took her eyes off me. She didn't even bother reacting to Alyson's blatant sarcasm.

"I'll be back..." And she left after saying that.

"Hahaha!"

Following her exit was Alyson's piercing laugh.
