7 Mr. Douchebag and his dumb brothers

"Who are you?" Kate questioned, her eyes darting between Zayden and Ziana.

"I am Zayden, a"

"Let's talk outside." Ziana rushed to Kate's side and pushed her outside before Zayden could complete his introduction.

Pushing her towards the hall, Ziana stopped and sighed out loud.

"You must be tired. Want some coffee?" She asked forcing out a smile when Kate stared at her, waiting for an explanation.

"Did you sleep with him?"

"NO!" Ziana shrieked in horror. Oh well, she was doomed!

"Then what is he doing on your bed?" Kate asked crossing her arms.

He was tired and resting. No, that would probably sound more awful. Ziana thought and stayed silent letting her best friend's imagination run wild.

Kate looked back towards the room when Zayden walked out and stared at Ziana. This girl is crazy!

Taking her silence as yes, Kate sighed out loud. Her best friend had a habit of going crazy sometimes and it was fine. Bringing a man home was definitely not a big deal!

"I am Katherine, a senior officer at Widowhills station." Kate introduced herself to Zayden who stood at the door, obviously interested in being part of their conversation.

"She was drunk last night and you took advantage of her. If you don't want me to arrest you on rape charges, be a gentleman and take responsibility for what you did." Kate said trying to protect her best friend from future harm, and Ziana wanted to scream out loud. This was certainly heading in the wrong direction.

Zayden shook his head and sighed out loud. "I can never understand your laws." He said looking at Kate. His voice held a tinge of disappointment and Ziana didn't like it. His eyes showed a hint of pain, his expression so hurt that Kate blinked in confusion.

"How can you arrest a husband for taking care of his wife's needs?" He asked leaning on the door's frame.

Kate's face turned red in embarrassment while Ziana felt the hell fall on her head. Well, he wouldn't have missed this opportunity to irritate her. Would he?

She turned around and glared at him. Her eyes fumed with frustration and she wished to burn him down into ashes.

"What? Didn't we get married last night?" He innocently asked with a pout. "We even registered under your laws." He added, making Kate's mouth widen in shock.

Bringing a man home was fine. But marrying him was definitely not!

"Hahahah, stop it Zay." Ziana faked a laugh, her eyes shooting bullets at his words. Turning to her best friend, she laughed, "He is just joking."

Zayden loved the way she addressed him and smirked when Kate wasn't convinced by her laugh.

"Trust me, nothing happened last night. I swear to God!" Ziana said when Kate stared at her in disbelief.

"Did you really marry him?" Kate asked squinting her eyes. Ziana was a headless chicken and had a history of making irrational choices, but this was on a different level.

"I swear I didn't!" Ziana lied, her voice quivering with emphasis. Turning around, she gritted her teeth and ordered Zayden, "Tell her you were joking earlier."

Zayden raised his brow but didn't say anything. Why would he spoil such an entertaining drama?

"He was joking, Katie. This guy is damn hilarious haha." Ziana said as she turned to look at Kate. Gosh, she was praising him now? Eww!

Kate crossed her arms and asked, "Tell me everything that has happened since you left the club."

"Ahh," Ziana felt a chill recalling all the painful incidents from last night. Scratching her brow, she lied, "I don't exactly remember."

"You don't remember?" Kate frowned, looking at Zayden for an answer.

But before Zayden could speak and annoy Ziana, Kate's phone rang continuously. Looking at the caller ID, she sighed and picked it up. "I am coming Mathew! Stop calling me!"

"Alright. Text me the address. "I will be there soon," she said, holding back her frustration.

Shoving her phone inside her pocket, Kate warned Ziana, "You better recall everything before I return."

Ziana nodded and sighed inwardly. She needed to thank Mathew and buy him drinks for calling at the right time.

"And you will stay here until then." She said staring at Zayden who was pleased by her words. Of course, he would love to stay here and look after his dear wife.

Kate skeptically glanced at both of them one last time before rushing out in a hurry. They finally traced the drug dealers related to their last case and needed to catch them today.

Walking towards her car, she took out her other phone and dialed a number. The call connected after a few rings and the receiver hummed in response.

"She is alive." Kate reported entering her car. Throwing away her gun in the shotgun seat, she added, "And also with a man."

"A man?"

"He doesn't look like a human." She muttered recalling Zayden's expression. His eyes were cold, full of darkness as if he belonged to hell and that sent a chill down her spine.

"Keep an eye on him."

"Alright." Ending the call, she started her car and drove off.

--

Basement room, Blueberry bar.

Xavier and Yael patiently waited for the dealer. They had been sitting for almost an hour and Yael was feeling nauseous seeing people having fun in different corners.

"Are you sure he will come?" He asked Xavier, who was busy trying different drinks. He ordered another cocktail and nodded at him.

"Are you sure he can sell amulets?" He asked again as the bartendress approached them with a seductive smile. He forced out a smile as she placed the glass and waited for her to leave.

"Is this your first time?" She asked, her eyes never leaving Yael but Xavier nodded in reply. "Hit me up if you need company." Leaning close to him, she added, "I can show you the heavens."

The lady winked before leaving and Yael's face cringed in displeasure. Why were humans so perverted? His innocence was being ripped apart in this dirty dungeon-like room.

"Oh, there he comes." Xavier exclaimed as a man walked through the black curtains. He greeted the girls on his way and stopped at the counter asking for something.

The server smiled at him and pulled a few packets from the drawer. He passed them on to the dealer and smiled at them welcoming them to the gang.

"Let's finish this quickly." Yael said to Xavier as the dealer walked to their table. He was bulky covered in big tattoos and his bald head made Yael anxious.

The dealer threw the packets on the table and sat in front of them. "Here's your amulet, bro!" He said with a smirk.

Yael and Xavier looked at the transparent covers containing weird white powder and blinked in confusion. Did humans transform amulet stones into powder? Yael wondered in disbelief.

"What powers do they possess?" Xavier asked, feeling off. He was pretty sure these weren't the amulets he had been searching for a while now.

"One strong huffing can send you straight to heaven." The dealer answered and seeing them frown, he asked, "Should I show you?"

And without their permission, he took one of the packets and rubbed the powder on his hand before inhaling it. Yael and Xavier stared at him in confusion. No, that wasn't how amulets usually worked. They needed a spell or enchantment to unlock their powers.

"Hmmmm, it's heaven! Wanna try?" The dealer asked moving his hand to Yael who immediately leaned back and shook his head.

"RUN! Bloody Kate has found us!" The bartender screamed in a panic, and everyone tensed up. They soon started running aimlessly making the two grim reapers frown in confusion.

"RUN GUYS!" Even the dealer jumped up from his seat and rushed out of the room.

Bam! Bam!

A number of gunshots were heard outside the room, and soon humans wearing black uniforms entered the hidden basement. They spread out and started catching other humans in the room. Yael and Xavier got up from their seats in confusion

What was happening here?

A lady dressed in formal attire walked through the black curtains. She lifted her gun in the air and fired making everyone shriek out loud.

Bam!

"Try to escape and I will dig a hole in your head." Kate glowered and everyone stopped in their tracks.

Slowly people hiding behind the tables stood up as the cops reached for them. While a few guys struggled, throwing tantrums as they were cuffed up, a few girls started crying as the lady cops pushed them out of the room.

"Do you guys need a special invitation?" Kate asked, looking at the two men standing in confusion. "Move!" She ordered.

"I think we are in some human trouble. You should use your skills." Yael whispered to Xavier as a cop pushed them toward the entrance.

Xavier who was still trying to get a hold of this situation nodded as they walked toward Kate.

"Are you the leader of this clan?" He asked nudging away from the cop who held his arm.

Guessing that Xavier was high on drugs, Kate decided to play along. "Yes, my lord. How may I help you?"

Xavier stepped closer and looked into her eyes. And when she stared back at him, he declared, "We were never here and you are letting us go this instant."

Xavier and Yael waited for his spell to work on her. Humans like her were easy to compel and they could get out of this room easily.

"Are you done?" Kate asked, crossing her arms. And when Xavier widened his eyes in shock, she glowered, "Now move!"

Wait! Why didn't the compelling work on her?
