Welcome to the Opposite World

"W-w-why are you screaming--"

Just as Oliver was about to turn his heels and run for dear life, the woman from the well pulled herself from the edge. He half-expected her to crawl toward him at high speed, yet she fell on the ground face first.

"Ouch!" She yelped, her voice muffled by the dirt where her face landed. "That hurt..."

Oliver stopped all his movements altogether. He wasn't sure if it was because he was so scared or dumbfounded by what was happening.

The woman sat up, her left hand supporting the weight of her small, damp body. Using her right hand, she pushed her lengthy, black hair backward, revealing her face.

Oliver let out a loud gasp upon seeing her features.

It wasn't because she was a nightmare to look at. Well, aside from the dirty water and blood dripping down her face, she kinda did. But no, that wasn't why he was so surprised.

It was because she looked like him and nothing like him simultaneously.

That was probably the most contradictory sentence he ever formulated, but that's the only way he could put it right now.

Yes, she didn't have blond hair and blue eyes, but she looked so much like him in some sense! If he were, to be honest, it seemed like she was the female version of him. A brown-eyed and black-haired girl version of him!

"What is going on..." She spoke with a weak yet confused tone, scanning her surroundings. "Am I still at Huxley...?"

"Y-y-you are." Oliver felt uneasy and close to sh*tting his pants, yet he found himself replying to her.

Her gaze shifted to his direction, and now he could completely see her face; Oliver was sure he was looking at his reflection. But the thing was, Oliver would see a handsome face whenever he was looking at a mirror. But when he looked at this girl, she seemed like a plain version of himself.

Whatever the hell that means.

Gosh, nothing was making sense right now! Not even his train of thought from his own mind!

And just when he thought it couldn't get any weirder, another woman came out of the well.

"What the hell is going on?!" Oliver shouted, pointing an accusing finger at the well. "Is this well some sort of portal to another realm?!"

"Whoa!" The first girl responded. "Did she just come out of a well?!"

"Why are you acting so surprised?!" Oliver looked at her incredulously. "You also came out of the same well!"

Before the ghoul girl could reply, the other woman from the well spoke.

"It is," The other woman who came out from the well answered. "You're the nimble-witted one between you, Twynes, but you surprisingly made the connection quite fast."

Oliver opened his mouth widely to tell the second woman to f*ck off for calling him 'nimble-witted' (whatever the hell that meant, he was sure it was an insult, though!) and was going to tell her that he was just making a reference to an isekai anime where a girl came out of a well and found herself in medieval Japan (JaNyx forced him to watch it, in case you're gonna accuse him of something), another few realizations struck him in the mere three minutes since his female look-alike came out of the well.

First, the second woman was slowly hovering out of the well, unlike the first one, who literally had to climb out of it. Second, she'd seen this woman before! She was--

"The old beggar!"

"The granny in the bus!"

The two Twynes looked at each other; both surprised they spoke at the same time and the fact that they both recognized the old woman.

However, Oliver was still second-guessing if it was really her because she didn't look like an old beggar anymore.

She looked like a fairy that came out of a children's book (but in the literal sense, she came out of a garden well) with her dazzling, sparkling dress flowing mid-air, and her makeshift cane looked more like a real witch's bejeweled staff now.

"Yes," The fairy-witch hybrid replied. "I am the same person that you saw--"

"Why are you flying?!" Oliver demanded, interrupting her.

Olivia frowned, her eyebrows knitting together. "I think it's more correct to say she's levitating than flying..."

"WHY ARE YOU NITPICKING WITH THE SPECIFICS?!" Oliver shouted at the top of his lungs. "THERE'S LITERALLY A FLYING OLD WOMAN IN FRONT OF US--"

"Stop shouting!" Olivia spoke at a volume louder than her usual soft-spoken self would, but it wasn't like Oliver knew this. "You've been shouting since the moment I saw you!"

Oliver's eyes widened, his forehead wrinkling. He was taken aback that a girl, though he guessed he wasn't a regular girl since she appeared out of a well, was talking to her in such a way!

Even though he's a narcissist, he was already starting to hate this look-alike of his.

"My, my, my!" The old lady sounded quite amused, slowly descending on the ground before landing with her black high heels. "You two already seemed to get along with each other!"

"What part?!" They yelled in unison. Upon realizing what just happened, they traded menacing glares. "Stop copying me!" They did it again, speaking at the same time. "Wha--"

"How adorable!" The old woman clasped her hands together, grinning. "At this rate, Olive here might get back to her realm in no time!"

"How'd you know my nickname?" They uttered in chorus, though Oliver spoke in a demanding tone while Olivia said it curiously. They both blinked, exchanging surprised looks and spoke together again. "You're name is Olive--"

Realizing the futility of the situation, Olivia gestured for Oliver to speak first, only for Oliver to do the same. They looked at each other, bewildered and speechless.

"Okay," The old lady interrupted. "This is going nowhere. Let me introduce you to each other myself!"

Before they could both ask how this old woman even knew their names, she began.

"Oliver Twyne, this is Olivia Twyne, the opposite you living on the other side of the well. Olivia Twyne, this is Oliver Twyne, the opposite you living in this universe. Also," The old lady winked at her. "Welcome to the Opposite World, Olivia."

They exchanged looks again before returning their gaze to the mysterious woman, exclaiming together.

"WHAT?!"

The Twynes are finally introduced. But there are so many questions that are unanswered!

Who is this mysterious lady? What is the Opposite World? Did she bring Olivia here? For what purpose?
