<Hmm? What's this??>

The boy tried feeling outwards, touching something scaly. In an instant, he felt like it had been compressed into the smallest area, the pain almost causing its consciousness to dissipate. It was only after what felt like an eternity did he realise he had eyes again.

He opened them, only to see a glowing white orb touching him and slowly absorbing into him, and in that moment his memories began to fade away.

And then it stopped, and that was the first and last time he would hear the voice.

Ash slowly opened his eyes and stayed like that, lying on the cold, hard floor while he collected his thoughts. As he tried remembering his past life a sound echoed through the cave and he lost his thoughts. He tried jumping onto his feet, something he learned to do very quickly in his past life, yet he only fell flat onto his face, his hooked green nose mashing into the rocks.

A cold hard mechanical voice sounded in his head.

<<Congratulations, you have been chosen as the champion for ?????. In 168:00:00 you will be ejected from the Training Arena. Your stats will be reset, however your achievements inside the Area will impact your potential for survival. Therefore, survive, evolve and get stronger. Those with potential lower than C will be immediately exterminated after ejection. Good luck, champion>>

As Ash stared at the ceiling, a window popped into his view, much like those games he played years before his death when he still enjoyed himself.

Ash looked up, seeing another goblin standing still in the middle of the small cave he was in. Carefully standing back up, he walked towards the goblin, waving his hand in front of the goblin's face, but there was no reaction. He tried touching the goblin.

That was his first death.
