6 The Technique

*Flashback Ends*

"I...I can walk myself, let me go!" She whimpered but immediately regretted it as a soft pain tossed out from her chest.

"You will learn to save your energy for your hunger soon, woman." The guard replied to her.

But then hearing those words from him, she recalled when the man had told them to serve her animals as food if she was becoming violent. What did he mean by that?

She wanted to ask but the huge-looking man held firm unto her shoulders, at least she was glad that she was not restricted by chains anymore.

Two guards walked behind the guard that was pushing her forward.

She tried to remain quiet and think of something else as she was been dragged to somewhere she had never set her eyes across.

They walked through long corridors which were supported with lots of huge candles. Her legs were pulling her down to the floor and her weak body was becoming so lazy by the second but she had no choice, but then, she took that opportunity to rely more on the guard.

At first, the guard was shocked when the vampiress held tightly to him, he was even frustrated by her sudden proximity but noticing that the fragile being might not be able to walk herself or else she was carried, he didn't even bother about it anymore. He preferred she clutching on to him than he carrying her on his shoulder.

When the other guards noticed this, they looked at each other. "What dungeon are we to put her in?" One of them asked.

The guard on which Hazel was resting said, "Did the beta not whisper anything to you?"

They all suddenly stopped walking, Hazel took that opportunity to rest upon him even better. She didn't feel any comfort but all that she was doing was best known to her. It was part of the techniques she had learnt to bring down the werewolves, including all of their packs but most especially, their strongest pack.

"The alpha had told us that we put her in a separate dungeon the one not far from his chamber," The other guard, Simone who was on the right-hand side said.

Zack, the guard who had brought up this whole conversation interrupted Simone, "I think Oran is right. We should follow the Beta's order. The head guard told us to also follow the Beta's order."

When they saw that they had gained different information, they were confused about what to do.

Oran said, "I believe we follow the Beta's order."

Simone shook his head, "Oran, when do we start to follow the Beta's order first when we have different order from the Alpha?" He paused, taking a glare at the prisoner who was resting on Oran, with a carefree attitude. When Hazel's eyes met his, she looked somewhere else. "I don't understand where all this is coming from."

Zack took a turn to look at Hazel, "First of all, I don't understand why a guard is not enough to take a female prisoner to the dungeon, that is somewhat unbelievable. I am very sure she is weaker than a young werewolf."

"You don't know these vampires, I also don't know them. We have no idea what their limits are," Simone responded. "There is something fishing about this whole thing, I think. We have no idea of how the vampires are since we are not given any opportunity to fight them."

They were guards and they were only meant to stay in the palace and not anywhere else. The ones who face the battles were the warriors.

After some seconds of deep silence. Oran concluded, "Well, it is logical that we follow the Beta's order because it is the right choice. An enemy shouldn't be close to the leader's chamber. We are more powerful than the vampires but that did not mean that they might not have other pots on their shelves,"

Just immediately after he said those words, he noticed that the vampiress was now fully resting on him. Her face was on his chest. He pushed her away from his body and dragged her hair instead, "Don't put your stinky body on me!"

Simone who had been somehow noticing the Vampiress's abrupt change in emotions stared at her again but did not say anything.

He looked at Zack instead for some seconds and Zack nodded at him. They had both communicated with the mind link.

Hazel seemed frightened when the guard pushed her away from him. She had almost gotten the rhythm. Almost!

She recalled what her mother had told her the night before, "The werewolves are vile creatures. They are the strongest, and it is very tough to fight them but then, we try, we do not want to lose against them even though we are aware that we will. But then, I believe that there is definitely something that can fight against them."

She had asked her mother that night, while Micah was with them. "Mother, what is that?"

"I will list out some techniques for you in writing, my dear. The witch Queen has longed seen that all that the werewolves would demand tomorrow is you-"

Micah, who was totally against the idea interrupted, "It is not right! It should be me! Hazel...hazel is. She doesn't even drink blood. How would she be able to fight against the werewolves alone? They...they are just cowards!"

Hazel's mother had taken Micah's hand in hers, trying to calm him, "We have no choice here, Micah. We have no choice. Now that we know what the werewolves would definitely choose tomorrow, we need to sort out things. We need to plan and not make rash decisions. Believe Hazel, she is capable of bringing the enemies down. She is the chosen."

"The female's chosen." He corrected, "I can also bring them down. We are the destined ones not only her. She...she might be killed. And...and I would not like it if that happens, mother."

Hazel who had been scared a few minutes ago had her whole attention now, fixed on Micah. She was so surprised that he was deeply worried for her. That alone made something crawl beneath her heart.

"She would be safe. The witch Queen has seen all of that. She would be safe. We will win against the enemies, that is a given."

"Mother, what are the techniques?"

"Hazel, I will list them out but what you must take note of is that the werewolves have extreme hearing sense. They are animals and they hear something very far away. Do take note of this. We have a great hearing sense too, beyond the humans but not compared to the werewolves. The first technique is to listen to their heartbeat. Listen to the rhythm and with that, you would be able to tell the next action of the werewolves."

Micah interrupted, "That is a joke, mother. Why can't the warriors do that in the war?"

"It is not possible. You must stay for twenty seconds before you could figure it out. Within that twenty seconds in a war, the Werewolves would have killed twenty of us. Micah, I hope you understand why Hazel is the best option."

"She is a female, she would be able to go close to the werewolves? That is insane! We can't use her to get them." Micah shook his head, just the thought of Hazel so close to those cruelest beings annoyed the hell out of him.

"Micah..." Hazel started. "I can..."

A/N: If you were Micah, would you allow?
