Kairon met Micah's clear eyes as he waited for an answer while Micah deliberated.
"I'm greedy."

"I want you. But if you don't want to work for me. So, treating you well like this and making you work with me is the next best thing. And who knows, if it makes you more inclined to cooperate with me again in the future, I'll take it."
Kairon was still confused.
"But why? I'm not that special. Sure, I can fight a little, and I'm pretty tough. But as I am now, any one of your other subordinates can take me. Easily."
"Good thing I'm not interested in your fighting prowess then. What I want is something far less common than that. I value your mindset and personality."

Micah shrugged.
"Not much, to be fair. But I know enough. You work hard. You're stubborn. And you value your connections, especially with your sister."
