Chapter 7

D-day

"Today is the day" I said to myself, sitting up from my bed and yawning. I hopped into the shower and then brushed my teeth. When that was done the time came for me to deal with my hair. I brushed it and put it in a ponytail, when I was done; I put on my jersey that had the number 15 on it. After putting on my jersey I went to my wardrobe and brought out the new soccer boots that my mom had bought for me the day that we had been to the mall.

When I finished getting dressed, I went downstairs and was welcomed by the smell of pancakes and syrup. My mom was standing in front of the cooker watching the remaining pancakes while Maoris was sitting down, reading a magazine and stuffing her mouth full of pancakes. "Good morning mom" I said taking a plate from the rack. "Good morning sweetie, sleep well?" she asked with a smile. "Sure" I replied, stealing some pancakes from Maoris' plate. When we were done with breakfast, we all headed straight for school. The whole place was decorated with red and blue balloons, strips and ribbons, which matched with each teams' jersey. The school looked very….colorful and beautiful.

After the arrival of all our teammates, Coach called for all of us, so that she could give us her 'speech' which is usually very boring since she repeats it every year.

The game started, we were being blocked from every angle, but not for long. I got a hold of the ball tackled my way through their defenses and then passed the ball to Carly who then passed it once again. Five minutes before the first half was over, we notched a goal but that didn't change the feeling of the scorching sun on our skin.

The match ended at 2-1, it was graceful, we shook our opponents and then our family members started to stroll toward us. "That was awesome cupcake" Gill said from beside me before pulling me in for a hug. "Thanks" I said hugging him back with a smile. "Wow, you girls rock" Maoris sang as she strolled leisurely to where we were with a sheepish grin on her face. "After party in 2hours" my mom suggested. We went home and freshened up for the after party.

I put on a black high waist bum short and a yellow turtle necked crop top, Yvonne is wearing a jean bum short and a black spaghetti top that hugged her body. Maoris had on a light blue bum short and a white top. "You're looking good cupcake" Gill said handing me a drink with a smile on his face. "Thanks" I said taking the drink from him. Gill and I talked for some time and then I started looking round and admiring the kind of wonderful people that I had around me. Some mothers were standing at the patio with cups in their hands, laughing about something, Marcel was standing by the grill frying some patties, for the burgers and Maoris was talking with some of her friends from school. "What do you think?" Gill asked. Oh God I was so lost in thought that I didn't even hear a thing he said "I think it's a good idea" I said smiling up at him. "Great, I thought so too, thanks cupcake" he said before walking into the crowd.
