Chapter 6 - Twist in the tale

Ruby woke up to an irritating high pitched sound in her ears and snoring. She slowly opened her heavy eyelids, only to see a familiar ceiling and her dad sitting on the chair next to her bed, sleeping too. She slowly lifted herself up, as her head pounded from the inside. Suddenly her dad woke up.

"But what about Blake? Weiss?" asked Ruby, pulling onto Yang's tongue, trying to get answers, her desperation growing and growing. Yang looked outside the window, obseving the sunshine and ever once in a while looking at her missing arm. She seemed emotionless... or more heartbroken.

"Weiss was taken to Atlas... but Blake left. I don't know where she is. But Ren is alright... that's at leats good." Yang continued, but as soon as Ruby hear the name of the asian boy, she felt her blood boiling, and her fists tightening. After what everyone did to Jaune, she could not bare to look at team JNRP. Well, at least the remains of it...

"Well, what about Jaune?" Ruby asked, but what the young brunette didn't expect, was Yang's reaction. Yang's eyes turned red as she turned to Ruby,

"Why do you care so much about him?! Hasn't he done enough to you?! Ruby he abandoned us, and you follow him as if you were blind!" Yang suddenly chouted at her younger sister as Ruby was looking at her angrily. Yang sighed, and tried to continue her sentence, hwever stopped when she heard the brunette's voice.

"He didn't abandon us Yang. Because it was his team AND YOU who betrayed him first! He may have gone to the wrong side, but are you surprised? You always laughed at him, you didn't even care when he didn't come back from the mission Team JNRP was supposed to attend. SO if anyone is to blame, it's Nora, Ren and Pyrrha! Maybe if he listens ot me, maybe-"

"Ruby what don't you get?! He left us! So stop following him! HE IS NOT COMING BACK! He never will come back! JUST GIVE UP!" Yang raised her voice again at her sister. So the only thing Ruby did without thinking, was storm out of the room, run to hers and curl in a ball. She laid herself on the bed, crying into the bedsheets, and somewhat trying to think of what to do. Beacon fell, she could not get the hunter lisence, she could not imagine how could she go on without the closest people she had. Pyrrha died, Nora died, her sister gave up, Weiss went back to Atlas and Blake dissapeared. She didn't care about Ren, why should she? After all it was his fault too...

"Hey Ruby... are you alright?" Tai suddenly came in, and noticed his younger daughter laying on her bed, her eyes red and puffy from crying and probably overthinking. He sighed, walked over to the bed and hugged her as she sobbed into his shirt.

"Dad I want him back. I want Jaune back," the brunette sobbed uncontrollably, whilst her father hugged her and rocked her a bit to calm the poor girl down.

"I know tht feeling. When you love someone so much, and hope the best for them. But when they leave you, you feel like you want to give up, however there is something you can do," Tai continued as Ruby listened to her dad's voice carefully. "You can either accept this and move on, or... you can follow their steps," as soon as Tai said those words, Ruby jotted up and wiped away her tears.

"What's the probability that Jaune will accept me again?"

"I don't know. It's only up to you two to decide," answered the blond man. Ruby felt the corner of her lips twitch at the though of hope.

"Dad?"

"Yeah?"

"Why didn't you follow Raven when you could?" Ruby asked and Tai sighed thinking of his ex-wife.

"Well, two reasons. One was that I didn't want to run away from everything I created and the other one is that I wanted you and Yang to have a normal life. Additionally I fell in love with Summer." Tai continued and Ruby had an idea of what to do... but what would her father say about this?

"Will you be mad dad? If I joined Jaune?" asked the brunette and Tai smiled, hugging his daughter.

"No matter what decision you make, I will always be there for you if you need me. And so will your sister" Tai declared and Ruby finally felt like she had a solid plan and she will stick to it.

Sometime later, Ruby packed her bags, and headed out of her door. She said a simple goodbye to her father and sister, even though she didn't seem happy. Just when Ruby looked infront of her, she suddenly noticed a familiar figure standing near a tree that she was about to pass. She scoffed and decided to ignore him, but that didn't quite work. The blackhaired asian grabbed Ruby by her shoulder and looked at her,

"You know that tyou're going into the lion's mouth, right?" he asked her, but frankly she didn't care about what he though.

"You know that this isn't my fault but yours right?" Ruby mocked her current enemy. Ren sighed and let go of her shoulder. He was about to interrupt her again, however she was quicker.

"Ren, if you really want to protect me, then get out of my sight. I will find Jaune, and not you nor my sister can stop me. That's my final decision" these were the last words that the young Rose said before leaving Lie Ren behind.

This Rose was just too tough to be broken down.
