Dying world

Elijah looked behind as he saw the man been shot down from his hoverbike, crashing on the ground as the officer made his way out of his car.

Of course, this was an everyday occurrence that he had already grown used to, as even though their street was very much secured to stop refugees from crowding the area, they were still some who manage to get past the barrier. But unfortunately, they would be hunted down by the police.

And for the lives of those who become hunted down by the police, well let's just say, if they manage to get caught without getting their hands on anything, they are returned to the station, where the policeman who apprehended the culprit gets more points and thereby getting more pay and rewards from their respective captains.

But if the culprits were caught red-handed, then there were only two options. The first option is that the officer in charge takes the item for himself and kills the refugee to avoid any evidence, or they return both the culprit and the item to the station, thereby handing out whatever item to their captain.

But at most times, some tend to follow the first option, cause getting the item for themselves would just be a bonus, and pulling whatever means they had to survive was just one of a human's survival instincts.

Elijah continued to stroll on his bicycle as he knew this wouldn't stop the refugees as they kept on increasing weeks after weeks.

'But it seems both sides had gone fearless, doing it in broad daylight. He thought as he sighed while shaking his head.

At this point, it seemed that the government didn't even care about what going on. Even if they had come out on national television to address the crisis, it was already known that they didn't care what happened to the country and its citizens, as they only expanded a small fraction of their forces to take care of the effects of the epidemic.

Earth was no longer safe, its ecosystem was already barely surviving on its backbone, with animals going extinct with each passing minute, and plant life barely managing to survive in their environment as they withered back into the ground never to be seen again.

Earth was no longer safe, and they knew it. The only hope for humanity now was a fresh start, and the earth was definitely out of the question, as it was clear as day that the planet was dying, slowing becoming inhabitable as its core turned cold.

Our only chance for redemption was a new ecosystem, a planet whose ecosystem was similar to earth's own, an untouched planet, and a fresh new start.

That's was one of the reasons he could never spend enough time with his dad, as his dad was part of the main group of the exploration. He knew it was impossible to meet him wherever he felt like, even thinking of assisting his parents was nothing more but a dream.

However, the only thing he could do right now for his parents was to stay at home where he was safe and sound. Well, he seemed to be doing that well as his parents always had a home to come back to.

Ever since world war 3 took place after he was kidnapped by an unnamed terrorist organization, Elijah had never felt so weak until he was returned safely after several months after. He has seen the reality of the world, and its reality was harsh, unfair and uncaring.

He knew that right now he was powerless and could not do anything to aid the situation without making them worried, so he chose to stay at home where it was safe, as he indulged his in various forms of entertainment as a cure for his boredom.

As Elijah was about a few blocks away from the supermarket, he felt some vibrations that seemed to come from below the ground causing what looked to be an earthquake, forcing him to fall from his bike. But with the back of his head facing the ground, he braced for the pain as he tumbled from his back and found his footing on the crack surface of the ground that looked like it would open up at any moment.

...…

PRESENT

Swoosh! Whoosh!

As Elijah was still shaken by the unbelievable events that had taken place, he didn't notice he was being watched by someone or something that couldn't be seen as though its living being was merely a shadow.

''Kikikikiki, another sinner on this very day"

''kikikikiki, surprising as it may, you aren't my first prey for the day, and neither would you be the last. But never mind that mortal, as your judgement must still take place"

Elijah was absentminded until he noticed a strange voice filled with laughter as though it made a mockery of his misery.

He wanted to turn back to look at the owner of this very strange voice that sounded like an echo between the voice of a man and a monster, but he couldn't, scared of the unknown that originated from it.

He was afraid but with the events of the day, he forced himself to turn back, gathering all the courage that remained in him.

''Tell me, boy, what manner of sin have you committed? that your so-called father condemned you, immediately casting judgement upon you on this very day''. As Elijah was looking at the figure that shouldn't even be considered an existence in the world he knew of, it was like a shadowy humanoid giant made of bones and flesh, draped in a black cloak with a hood that covered his face and whole body leaving only it's hands and feet's visible.

But Elijah knew he couldn't look past that cloak, not because he couldn't but because he isn't sure if he could handle anything else stretching the limit of his sanity.

''w…..ho ar..e you? ''Elijah hesitantly asked the abomination, while staring at its abnormally huge figure.

"Oh brave of you to ask that question, well I haven't introduced myself so listen well you mortal, I am "@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@# ", so do now understand who I am and what I am here for".

'I couldn't understand the other half of what he said, but neither do I want to know who he is or what he is here for'. Elijah thought.

Before he could finish my thoughts, he heard him again. Even when he was on the verge of collapsing from the numbness of what had happened today, Elijah did all he could to remain senile. After all what could be worse than this.

"Even if you can't understand my name, I can only tell you this". the giant said as he looked at Elijah.
