A Saucerful Of Secrets (Updated)

Singapore's Bureau Of Magic, 2019

After hearing the call made by Henry, William and Wilson immediately rushed over to the bureau to retrieve the update information on Kenneth. They were sure that the new information will shed some light on why exactly Wilson faced the backlash from his spell.

"This is the new information I have on Kenneth," Henry said to both of them. Though he was not exactly very fond of venators and was reluctant to hand over the documents, it is his job as a staff of the department of records to inform and provide documents, which was exactly why he called William as soon as more information on Kenneth Lee surfaced, especially since it's been found out that Kenneth had awakened and became a magus.

William took the documents from his hands and looked into the documents. The documents show that Kenneth has been registered as a magus as well, however, not much information has been given as of yet. Since Kenneth has just awakened, his magical talent has not been found. Magical talents are normally determined when one awakens, it could manifest as a ring of flames signifying the magus is a pyromancer or maybe huge gusts of wind, signifying the magus is an aerokinetic. However, sometimes the magical talent may be hard to determine, such as body strengthening, requiring further observation to discover.

Kenneth's case is not so unusual for the magical talent is not that unusual, although what is unusual is the amount of information that is missing from the documents, it's like someone is deliberately trying to conceal his information. Usually, a case where a human suddenly awakens, their lineage will be immediately looked into, to determine where his magic exactly came from, a magical mutagen or maybe an ancestor who was a magus, with the latter being more common.

"What's with the missing information?" William asked.

Henry stared at him blankly, clearly, he had not read the file. The documents were submitted by Liam, who handled his registration, after having another set printed, the original documents were kept in the records room and while the copy was given to him.

William saw his blank look and knew he had no idea what was going on, to find out more, he would have to go to the source, the one who handled the registration. All registrations are to be handled by the Department of Regulations, with the information missing from the documents, someone from the department must have tampered it or left the information out.

"Nevermind, thank you," William said. They turned back towards the reception to get the directions towards the department of regulations.

"What information was missing?" Wilson asked while they walked.

"The information on his magic and lineage," William replied without giving it a second thought.

This information is extremely useful for Wilson, as with the network he has, he could easily find such information and be one step ahead of the federation.

Singapore, Kenneth's Home, 2019

"Can you tell me? What happened to my biological parents?" Kenneth asked. He had calmed down after finding out from his father that they are not his biological family. He is still processing the fact and Yong Ming has been very patient with him, waiting with him while he calms down.

"They tried to protect you, your mother especially, is so reluctant to give you away." Yong Ming replied. It's been such a long time since he had talked about them, it was like he can finally breathe a little, though there is still information he was planning to withhold until Kenneth is ready.

"Protect me from what? You're not saying...they died right?" Kenneth replied. Just the thought that his parents died to protect him makes him terrified.

"NO, no, they are fine, I'm sure of it." Yong Ming replied with a reassuring smile. But truthfully, Yong Ming has no idea, he had no contact for nearly two-decade ever since he left the organisation. "As for what they are protecting you from, I will tell you when the time is right."

Again with the secrets, after all, that he found out, Kenneth wondered exactly how much secrets were still kept from him.

"Then can you tell me more about my parents?" Kenneth asked. He was curious about his parents, maybe it will shed some light on who he inherited his powers from.

Yong Ming hesitated. Talking about them brings back painful memories. They were dear friends to him, especially Kenneth's mom, not knowing whether she's dead or alive tears him apart. "Your mother...she was a brave and compassionate woman. Always willing to help others, also one of the strongest magus' in the world, a grand magus, the same goes for your father."

Su Yi was seated at the other end of the couch listening. She can't help but feel like Yong Ming is hiding something about Kenneth's parents.

Talking about it seemed painful to his father, so Kenneth changed the topic. He turned toward Su Yi and asked, "What about you? What happened to you in the park where I first found you?"

"I don't know...I don't remember..." Su Yi replied. This was what Su Yi was curious about. She was sure that she came here to find Ambrose's sister, but one thing led to another and she ended up staying with Kenneth's family, who she suspects is Ambrose's child.

"So...now what?" Kenneth asked his father.

"Now, we train." Yong Ming replied.

Singapore's Bureau of Magic, 2019

William and Wilson now stood in front of the door to the department of regulations, about to go in. They got the directions to the department from the reception. Each of the bureaus in the world is huge, the local magus' would know how to get around but as for foreign magus', they would need to go to the reception each time to get the directions to where they're going, one, is to prevent going to unauthorised sections of the bureau, two, is to avoid getting lost within the bureau.

Before going in, the reception has alerted the department head beforehand, normally, the department is only accessible by those who are getting registered or agents of the bureau, by since he has the black card given to him by Rosalind, he has the authorisation to go in.

William places the card against the scanner by the door and it opened, leading to a huge room, a giant manalium pillar in the middle. They headed for the head's room as he would be the one to handle special cases of registration. Registration normally takes place at the start of the year throughout the month of January after the child turns thirteen. The manalium pillar seen in the department was used o trigger the awakening and measure the amount of magic they have. It is not rare to see some awaken on their own given the time, but they would still need to be registered.

William knocked on the door to the department head's office. Waiting for a few seconds before a voice tells them to come in.

"Hello venators, welcome, how may I help you today?" Liam said.

William hands over the documents to Liam, and said, "We're here to find out more about this kid, Kenneth. We noticed certain information is missing?"

"Ah yes. His newly awakened. His lineage and talents are still being investigated, so he's placed under my direct supervision." Liam replied.

"We want to know...if you discovered anything...strange about him. Perhaps his powers?" William probed.

"As I've said, he's still under observation. Should there be any information that arises, you'll hear from the bureau." Liam replied, trying to get them out of his office as soon as possible. He can't possibly let them know that the potential heir of light and holder of the key is Kenneth, could he?

William tried to probe further by threatening Liam. "We're here under the orders of Rosalind Fernsby to find Su Yi, are you sure you want to withhold information knowing that?"

Liam knows fully well who Rosalind Fernsby is, she's one of the most powerful figures in the magical community, something like an Albus Dumbledore from the Harry Potter books, albeit younger, female and not imaginary. Her magical prowess is known throughout the world, her powers of reality warping earned her the moniker, 'Witch Of Words', after her ancestor who had the same title. But Liam isn't about to back down without a fight. "You come to my office, threaten me and accuse me of withholding information?"

"Not threaten, merely a warning," William replied, staying as calm as possible.

"Same thing. Now get out of my office." Liam replied. With a flick of his hands, both of them were instantly teleported outside of the department, the door slamming shut against their faces.

William and Wilson stood in the spot unmoving, stunned for a few minutes before Wilson spoke.

"That went well."
