Chapter 23 Again in the dungeon

'Adrian, Adrian, please talk to me!' Someone was shaking me. All the injections made my whole body numb. Aurora was calling my name, fear in her voice. I made an attempt to open my eyes. She appeared hazy at first, then crystal clear with her deep blue-ocean eyes.

I looked around and realized that we were in the dungeon, which was something I did not expect at all. I had thought we would be handed over to our new owners.

Aurora cupped my cheeks with a smile on her lips when she realized I had regained consciousness.

'I am so happy that you are back dear. How do you feel?'

'What did just happen to me?'

"When you learned that you had been sold to the Shadow Pack, you attempted to flee, but the guards knocked you down and refused to let you speak. I was afraid they'd kill you, but you're still alive!"

'We waited there until the bid was over. After the bid was over, Alpha approached us. He stated that we must follow the rules of our owners or face consequences for all of us. They'll deliver us to our owners tomorrow. We were both sold in the same pack. At the very least, we won't be alone there.'

'We were brought back to the dungeon. They sent us here after the tender. We are together because we will be delivered to the Shadow Pack.'

I tried to sit down but noticed I had extra chains on my wrists that were attached to the wall; Aurora and the other inmates were in a similar condition. They didn't feed us and didn't provide us with any water. The guard's answer was humiliating when one of us asked for water and food.

'You don't deserve them because you've used the Pack's resources for free up until now.' shouted the guard.

As a matter of fact, I did not care. They were planning to deliver us to the spot where we were sold early the next morning. I wouldn't mind being hungry for a day or two.

My mind drifted back to Beta Connor. He tried his best. However, who could know that Shadow Pack would be interested in me? He had not contacted me after the bid. Frankly, if he doesn't contact me, I have no way of reaching him. And it's impossible for me to do so here in the dungeon. I brooded over how I could make touch with him.

Demus was not in sight indicating that my body had not yet been able to eliminate the poison. It would take time. The important thing to me was that Jake stayed away from me after Alpha had a conversation with him. I was relieved that he had stayed away. Even though I was hungry, I didn't care.

My train of thought was interrupted by the rumbling of my stomach. Aurora grinned as she turned to face me after hearing that sound. I gave him a shy glance.

'Hey, Adrian,' she said. 'Are you hungry?'

'Don't be foolish; how can I be hungry when they are properly feeding us?' then I laughed.

For a long time, I had not laughed like that. I felt happy. She smiled too. For the previous two years, I had not had the opportunity to socialize. Until now I was just a prisoner, and from now on I would be a servant. Aurora was unluckier than I was. She'd been sold as a sex slave. Despite this, she could still smile.

'We shall go hungry tonight since we will not be given food. Forget about it; we'll be in our new home tomorrow. Pray that they will look after us!' She talked with a new sense of optimism in her tone.

'How can you be so upbeat in such gloom?' I inquired.

'Does my sadness make a difference?' asked Aurora.

'At least nothing is bothering or hurting me right now. You must learn how to be happy otherwise it's unavoidable that you'll become depressed. However, life is too short to be miserable.' she said.

I suppose she was correct. Because of Jake's tortures, I hadn't had much opportunity to reflect about my life in the previous two years. Maybe this would be the chance to change my life. After a while, fatigue quickly overtook me, and before I knew it, I was fast asleep. The Moon Goddess came to see me in my dreams.

'Don't worry, my child. Just be careful and avoid actions that reveal your true identity. Don't be concerned about Aurora, I'll get her with me as soon as possible. Be careful Adrian! It's critical not to let on that you have a wolf. Demus is unique, and you'll become used to him with time. The majority of alpha wolves are mute and only use their mind-link to communicate. Demus is able to talk with you. It is very old and powerful enough to lead you in the correct direction. If you're looking for a route out, trust it. However, he is obstinate, owing to his age and character. You will learn how to manage it. All you have to do now is wait. As a result, your pack will be ready when you arrive. You will lead your pack with your Luna. Be patient kid, patient.'

I woke up to the voice of the guards, they were shouting to us to get up. I could not have time to think about what I saw in my dream.

'Come on, you scumbags, wake up. You've all lived for free your entire life. Now is the time to start working. Stretch your wrists.' Jake appeared in front of the cell. I could hear the desire in his voice. However, no one understood what was happening, as there were several guards in front of each cell.

'Come closer!' I did what you said out of fear.

'Your wrists!' he growled. I stretched my wrists to him. he removed the chain which is connected to the wall. However, he put on another chain which has a connection with my collar and my wrists.

'Now out!' He yelled. As I walked past him, he leaned in and whispered in my ear.

'I will miss you kiddo.' The hair on the back of my neck stood on end.

I swore I'd rip Jake's head off when I had my Pack back. Then he shoved me next to the other inmates. There we waited patiently with Aurora.
