Egg and Intricacies of Staffs

After getting home we had a meal before we started to learn the basics of magic. Having watched the movies and read the books, I had the first day basics down. The interesting part was I didn't need to worry about wand movements to cast my spells, but I did have to concentrate on where I wanted the spell to go. But what was truly fascinating was I didn't need to have my staff in my hand to cast spells. I could appear to cast wandless magic while my staff was on my back or in the backpack. Of course it was weaker using this method, but it was no weaker than someone using a wand. If I use my staff the power of the spell is five times greater. All those materials aren't just for show it seems. I left my staff in the training room, floating, during dinner.

"It still amazes me how much more powerful a staff is compared to a wand. Son. You must make me one if you ever make any." Sirius said.

"I planned on making one for each of you. But I have an idea that I'll have to test out. Unless it's already in the books." I said in between bites.

"Oh? And what is this idea? Maybe one of us has heard of it." Father said.

"I'm curious if I can make a staff with a slot in it to deposit someone's wand so they can use a staff without worrying about compatibility issues." I answered him honestly.

"...I have never heard of such a thing. If the staff os made of the same wood as the wand, I don't see why not." Papa said thoughtfully.

"That was my idea. Imagine if everyone can just 'upgrade' their wands to a staff, but still remove the wand for whatever reason. I'm sure it won't me as powerful as my staff but doubling the power shouldn't be an issue." I said before taking another bite.

All the adults at the table put down their silverware to contemplate what I just said, finally giving me a chance to finish my meal.

"If you don't mind, son. I'd like to borrow your staff lore library (backpack full of books) to research your idea. I can see no reason why it isn't possible. The core size doesn't change, just the amount of wood." Gellert said.

"I don't mind. I can't read the books while I'm sleeping anyway. I would like to get a trunk expanded as much as possible, so i can make a library and everythingelse i need. Maybe a laboratory for crafting staffs and such." I say nonchalantly.

"I have several upstairs. While I'm reading tonight, I'll transfer your library from your backpack to your new trunk." Father said.

"Thank you, Father. Can we also begin the process to become Animagus? Both Harry and I?" I asked with my best puppy eyes.

"I don't see why not. It will take a month for the leaf, then you'll have to wait for a strong enough electrical storm to come by." Dad said, bringing fist bumps from both Harry and myself.

"Minerva will overlook the entire process. She helped your Dad with his transformation as well. So it's only right that she helps you." Papa told us both.

""Who's Minerva?"" Harry and I asked at the same time.

"She's....." Papa started to say before the fireplace flashed in green light.

Everyone stood up, drawing their wands, even Harry. I stuck out my hand to call my staff to me. I was unsure if it would respond over this distance. I'd only tested it out in the training room. Luckily I could feel it coming through doorways and the hall before it entered the dining room and zoomed into my hand. I was expecting some force when it hit my hand, but it stopped as soon as it touched my skin.

""Awesome!"" was all Harry and I could say before people started coming out of the fire.

As the Floo fire went out Harry and I noticed they weren't being aggressive. In fact, they were quite shocked to find two young boys prepared to attack them.

Realizing they were not only not armed, they were not being aggressive at all. Turning my head slightly I noticed the adults had sat back down and put their wands away. All I could do was click my tongue before sending my staff to the corner of the room and sitting back down.

"You never mentioned we were having company tonight." I said with a frown

"We wanted to see how you would react. And neither of you disappointed." Father said with a smile. Looking around, everyone else looked proud as well. "Say hello to your teachers. They will give you the basics before you enter Hogwarts."

""Hello"" Harry and I said.

"I must admit, they would make great duelists. My name is Filius Flitwick. Before school you may call me Uncle Filius. I will be teaching you Charms." the half goblin said.

Already knowing who these people were, I zoned out until I heard Snapes voice.

"I must admit, that display of reflexes was applaudable. Hopefully you aren't like the rest of the dunderheads I am forced to try and teach. I will be teaching you Potions...if you can learn it." the heart broken man said.

"Tomorrow. They were just about to go to bed." Mother said adamantly.

""Goodnight Mom"" Harry and I said with a hug before doing the same around the table. Just before leaving the room for bed, I called my staff to my back where it could float/attach at an angle.

After casting the silencing charm Flitwick asked "What is up with the white haired child's weapon? Surely you got him his wand already?"

"This is going to be a long discussion." Gellert said as he pulled out the first book from Arians backpack.

.....

The next morning

I came downstairs to find all the adults sitting around the table, reading my books. I take a deep breath to calm myself as Harry puts a hand on my shoulder, noticing i was upset.

"Calm down. They probably decided to work together. There are a literal thousand books to go through." Harry reminded me.

"You're right. I just wasn't expecting people I'd just met yesterday to be going through my lore books before I had the chance to." I said as we walked silently into the kitchen to make breakfast for everyone.

After we made plates for everyone, we started to carry the food and dishes into the dining room. As soon as we started setting the table, everyone came out of their reading trance.

"How is everyone enjoying reading my books?" I asked, having already calmed down.

"These are a treasure trove of knowledge. If you decide to make staffs, I'm more than willing to commission one from you." Flitwick said seriously.

"The same for me. I'd love to see how my transfiguration is affected by the boost in power. Maybe I can perform some of the older magic I've always wanted to." McGonagall said with a far off look.

"Likewise. It's not useful in my classes, but I'm sure it can help me in the acquisition of materials in the forbidden forest. I always need to have Hagrid accompany me for my safety." Sprout said.

"This knowledge is beyond me, but I'm no longer able to create new spells due to the lack of power. So I'll purchase one as well, if you sell them." Snape said.

"Father, how much have you told them?" I asked.

"Nothing about your idea. I just asked them to read the books and write a brief summary onto a parchment before placing it into the book. I would never divulge such a secret without your permission, son." Gellert told me with a comforting smile.

"I'm sorry. I jumped to conclusions." I said with a lowered head.

"Don't be. It was a reasonable reaction. Just know, nobody has found anything like your idea yet." Sirius said with a smirk.

"All this secrecy has me curious. What could be so important that none of you are willing to talk about it?" Flitwick asked.

"Something that could potentially get me the Order of Merlin First Class." I said without looking at anyone.

"Pfft. What cam you, a child, possibly have discovered that could get you ANY Order of Merlin?" Snape asked with a sneer.

"For one, discovering Peter Pettigrew could very well get me third class. But on matters of first class, you do not qualify to hear about it." I stated.

"You..." Snape started to say.

"Severus. He speaks the truth. To get first class, he must be endorsed by another first class or half of the second class holders. And if his idea is correct, he has my endorsement for first class. His idea will change the lives of ALL wizards." Papa said seriously.

"Enough of this talk, it's for the future and Flitwick needs to start their lessons on Charms." Father said.

...

After our first weekend of lessons, Harry and I had managed to complete our first spells for the Hogwarts curriculum. It was our five day weekend since the teachers could only spend one day away from school each. Next weekend we could learn Herbology and Potions.

I finally had time to mess around with the egg. As I set the egg in the laboratory in my trunk, Father showed up to check on me.

"Is that the pet you were talking about?" Father asked me.

"Yes. They said it was fossilized, but I feel a connection to it. I think I know how to hatch it." I said, not taking my eyes off it.

"Oh, how so?" Father asked.

"With my blood and magic. My blood will bind it to me and my magic will give it the strength to grow and hatch." I said.

"Well then, proceed." Father said while taking a seat.

I started by slicing my palm open and covering the egg with my blood. After five minutes the egg absorbed all of the blood available. Next, I took my staff and held it over the egg to transfer my magic directly to the egg. After 30 minutes I was running dry just as the egg started to crack open.

Just as the egg exploded open we heard a loud cry. Focusing on the area where the egg used to be I noticed a baby dragon. A TRUE DRAGON. Not one of the wyverns that this world calls dragons. It was the same color as my staff and was staring strait into my eyes. The only thing I heard was "ƊĄƊƊŸ" as the baby dragon threw itself into my arms.
