3 The Great Black Rooster
Once the golden ape left he was finally free to take a look at his new home. Lucca opened the door and walked in and as he took his first step inside the lights automatically turned on by themselves. The floor of the house was completely covered by a black rug that was extremely soft and looked very expensive, it was so thick he felt like he was standing on the back of a giant beast. The walls and ceilings were white with the furniture in the house being black. The checkerboard color made the insides of the little obsidian home look sleek and stylish.
He felt like a child at an amusement park as he ran up the stairs to the 3rd floor and went through every room. There were a total of 5 bedrooms each with king sized beds and connecting bathrooms. One of them was a master bedroom that completely took over the top floor, it was twice the size of the normal rooms and the bathroom connecting to it even had a Jacuzzi installed with running water! Though he had no idea where it was coming from. While looking around the master bedroom he noticed through the window that there was even a large space on the back of the little castle which even had a pool!
On the first floor there was a large kitchen with all the utensils, pots and pans hanging from the ceiling, there were also a bunch of appliances and furniture he recognized like the sink, dishwasher, refrigerator but there were also some machines he had never seen before.
´How many people are able to afford a house like this at 25?!` Lucca thought as he felt extremely excited and reached into his pocket to grab his phone so he could brag about it online before remembering he wasn't on earth anymore. He frowned but unfortunately there wasn't anything he could do, he did have family and friends on the other side but since that connection was gone when he died he would never be able to go back, so he made the decision to not think about it. As long as he kept busy he shouldn't have time to miss anyone or feel lonely therefore he focused on one of the problems that he had right now, there was no food! He had clean water but unfortunately the little obsidian home didn't come with food as well.
Lucca brought up the heavenly market one more time and searched for food. They also had tiers but since it made no difference to him he looked at the normal food which were tier 0. When it opened up what he saw made him very excited. for 1 HC all the food practically came in a bundle of hundreds of servings!
`If I eat three times a day then this could last me for at least ..... three weeks!´ Honestly math wasn't his strong suit so he just ballparked when he realized the right number was a little annoying to get.
He had taken almost an hour to pick as he scrolled through the list. He didn't find any bundle that came with different types of food so he had to pick something filling and that he wouldn't feel disgusted after eating it everyday for a long period of time. After a long time passed he ultimately decided on rice. He wasn't Asian but the country he used to live in also ate rice daily therefore he was already used to it. Fortunately the food that appeared in his inventory came not only prepared but hot as well!
'This doesn't have much nutrition but it should last me at least until I'm able to find some food on the outside or make some more coins." After filling himself with rice and water he started thinking up ideas of how to make money.
By the time he finished his meal he had thought up to three different ways. One was to make a garden in the back of the house by the pool and plant various vegetables and fruits, he could eat part and sell the rest.
His other idea was to buy and raise some small animals, maybe chickens or even rabbits or something. Once they bred he could keep part for meat and also sell the rest.
Lastly he could find resources in the forest and sell to the market. It could be dangerous but it was the only way he could gain some coins quickly and didn't require an investment, but he decided to put that idea off until he at least had some more protection first. Imagining himself running into other beasts the size of the big ape made him shudder.
Looking through the list he found there was a bag of random assortment of tier 1 seeds for 5HC. If he was able to grow them he could sell them for a lot more money than the normal ones. Lucca quickly bought the seeds and then started looking at farming tools. As he brought up the farming tab looking for tools he found a very interesting type of tool! They were farming puppets!
The most basic one was worth 3HC but the description said it was only able to handle normal crops so he looked at the more expensive versions. Lucca found one that could handle magical plants and magical beasts which was going for 35HC. It looked like a nice old man wearing a straw hat. It was made by a company called PuppetFamily which Lucca felt was a little strange but decided to buy it anyway as he knew nothing about farming or taking care of animals so he grit his teeth and paid for it.
Lastly were the animals. He decided on chickens first since they should be pretty easy to take care of and he also really enjoyed eating eggs and the chicken meat not only that but it also gave him many choices on how to make money, he could sell the eggs for a quick buck or wait for the chicks to hatch and sell them for more money then. Looking through the roosters first he suddenly had a great idea.
`Couldn't I get a tier 1 rooster instead but buy normal chickens and save some money?´ Feeling like this idea could work he quickly found a tier 1 rooster for 57HC that was black in color from top to bottom and in the description it mentioned he would pass that coloring onto his children as well which would make them a bit more expensive than the normal tier 1 chicks.
Quickly making his decision he bought the rooster but left it in his inventory since he decided to set everything up before releasing him outside. He couldn't let the chickens make a mess in his beautiful new home right? Fortunately there was a big doghouse in the back the size of one of his bedrooms which should be big enough to be easily turned into a chicken coop. After all his spending he only had 235 coins left but he comforted himself as this was an investment.
Lucca first let out the puppet from his inventory. The old puppet was dressed like a farmer, his clothes looked old and worn out even though it should be brand new. It had a large straw hat on his head and the face of a kind old hardworking man who would never complain no matter what life threw at him.
`"Master" The old farmer said as soon as he appeared while kneeling on the floor.
"You can speak?" Lucca asked surprised.
"Yes master, but only enough so that I can smoothly do my job" He responded.
"What's your name?"
"Master hasn't given me a name yet therefore I have no name" The old puppet responded
"Then you will be called..... Uncle Ben" Lucca said after thinking hard for a few seconds, he felt the name fit the old farmer pretty well.
"Yes master" The old farmer accepted without showing any emotions.
Even though it was only a puppet Lucca felt a little strange having this old man kneel down to him and quickly helped him get up while giving him his task.
"These are the seeds, you can make a garden on the other side of the castle walls beside the pool. If you need anything just ask." Lucca said as he helped the old puppet off the floor and handed him the bag of seeds.
"yes master" Uncle Ben said as he grabbed the bag and took a look inside, his eyes shined with a hint of excitement seeing the tier 1 seeds.
"Oh we will also raise some chickens as well, you can use that dog house as the coup." Lucca said while removing the black rooster from his inventory but what came out greatly surprised him. There was indeed a black rooster inside of a White cage that looked exactly like the one he saw in the picture except it was the size of a horse!
The rooster seemed a little confused at first when it appeared but when it spotted Lucca an aggressive glint shined in its eyes as it immediately attacked through the gaps between the bars! The holes were just big enough for it to fit its big ass chicken head through!
'I can't dodge!' The attack of a tier one creature was too fast for any normal human to react in time, all he could do was close his eyes and imagine the mess he would leave once that powerful beak smashed into his thick thick. That's when he suddenly heard a loud 'Twak' and realized the pain never came.
Feeling that his heart was still beating and lungs were still breathing Lucca slowly opened his eyes and was met with the black rooster dizzily swaying in the cage with a large bump on the side of his head. Looking confused he noticed the old farmer holding a thick wooden stick in his hands.
'Where did he get that stick?' he thought to himself but before he could ask anything the old farmer spoke out.
"Don't worry master, I will quickly get started in educating this unruly beast" The old man said as he grabbed on the side of the cage and dragged it to the back of the building. The rooster had already lost all aggressiveness and the only thing left in its eyes was fear for the old farmer.
"Hmph! Serves you right!" Lucca laughed to himself as he turned around and wobbly walked into his little castle with his trembling legs.
After getting inside and drinking a cup of cold water to calm down he started thinking of what he should do now. The thought of selling the rooster did cross his mind but disappeared just as fast when he remembered that reselling things to the market would be 10% cheaper than the original price. Also the breeding idea was off the table as well since there was no way he was going to be living with other birds that size, after all he couldn't buy the normal sized ones anymore right? He didn't even want to imagine what the giant co... rooster would do to the little things.
'I remember seeing people riding on an ostrich on tv, maybe it can also be used as a mount?' There was no way he was going to be losing those 57 coins so it was going to be put to work somehow. He quietly laughed as he pictured himself riding the giant black chicken into battle. Now it all depended on how well the old farmer could tame the beast.
Lucca laid down on his bed trying to get some rest however he was only able to catch a wink of sleep 2 hours later when the loud thuds and the cries of the great cock finally stopped.
'Uncle Ben sure has a lot of stamina' Lucca thought to himself as he closed his eyes. A lot had happened today and he felt extremely tired. He had almost died twice and actually died once! As soon as he closed his eyes he fell asleep almost instantly.
