Naval Headquarters, Office of Marshal Marine
"The bastards of the World Government actually want to choose seven big pirates to cooperate with!" Akainu exclaimed angrily, his face filled with rage.
"Akainu, this is the decision of the World Government. Do you think you can defy it?" Kizaru slouched in the seat beside him, casually clipping his nails with nail clippers and pouting.
"Fine, I have already opposed this matter, but the World Government has already made its decision," Akainu responded, his frustration apparent.
Sengoku, too, appeared displeased. His suggestion had been ineffective, and he couldn't sway the decision.
Vice Admiral Crane sat and observed, shaking his head slightly with a sigh. Meanwhile, Garp and Aokiji sat nearby, munching on packs of senbei.
The sound of the nail clippers clicking irritated Akainu. Just then, a knock came at the door.
"Come in!" Sengoku said in a deep voice.
A herald entered but was taken aback by the scene in the office, feeling his legs go weak.
"Marshal, according to the news from the headquarters' colonel, a strong man suspected of possessing Conqueror's Haki has been discovered in the West Blue. Additionally, there is another strong individual suspected to be a great swordsman, but their identity is unknown," the herald reported, his voice trembling.
Conqueror's Haki? Great Swordsman? The news rendered the office silent for a moment. Sengoku frowned, his unease evident.
"Immediately instruct Hina to investigate their identities," Sengoku ordered in a low voice.
"Yes!" The herald quickly left the office, wiping the sweat off his brow.
The tense atmosphere in the office lingered. Sengoku glanced at the three individuals standing or sitting beside him—Akainu, Tsuru, and Kizaru.
Just then, Vice Admiral Crane spoke up. "Wait a minute, didn't little Ai Xiu go on a mission with Hina?"
The office fell into an instant silence. Akainu's face darkened, his mood instantly soured. The fist-shaped scar on his chest served as a constant reminder of his defeat.
If he hadn't fully enveloped himself in magma before plunging into the sea, someone else might have captured him. The humiliation he felt worsened.
This made Akainu harbor ill feelings toward Ai Xiu. Upon hearing Ai Xiu's name again, his mood plummeted even further.
Sengoku, too, reacted swiftly. After all, it was Ai Xiu's first mission, and he had intended for Hina to accompany him to get acquainted with the field.
Garp, appearing serious for a moment, suddenly remembered something and collapsed back onto his seat, continuing to enjoy his senbei.
"Aren't you worried about Ai Xiu, Garp?" Aokiji asked curiously.
"Hahaha, Ai Xiu is really strong, right, Sakazuki?" Garp chuckled.
Akainu snorted coldly, refusing to engage in the conversation. Sengoku frowned.
Ai Xiu had already displayed his Conqueror's Haki in the past, showcasing impressive mastery of the ability. "Inform me immediately about how such a powerful individual suddenly appeared in the West Blue," Sengoku demanded.
Upon hearing this, Kizaru reluctantly stood up from his seat, lazily resuming his duties. However, Crane voiced her curiosity.
"Little Ai Xiu's swordsmanship is also formidable. It seems that he made a move. But what could have happened to prompt Hina's urgent report?"
Crane speculated that Ai Xiu had likely acted independently after separating from H
ina. Hina, sensing the Conqueror's Haki or witnessing the mighty sword slash, had concluded that Ai Xiu had encountered a powerful enemy and immediately sought assistance.
"It will take some time to obtain the results," Sengoku surmised, anticipating a response.
Indeed, after a brief wait, the messenger who had departed earlier returned with an update.
"Marshal, Colonel Hina reports that the individual who made the attack is Master Ai Xiu, a Major from the Headquarters!"
Sengoku nodded deeply, a sense of relief washing over him. Ai Xiu was his most valued asset in the Marines, and their blood ties made his safety all the more crucial.
Furthermore, Hina had reported that the great pirate known as Heavenly Yaksha Doflamingo was involved in the fight over the two Devil Fruits in the West Blue. However, all the pirates had been captured except for one who had concealed their strength and escaped to sea, only to be devoured by Sea Kings along with their boat. One of the Devil Fruits had also been consumed, and the remaining one was being sent back to headquarters.
"Doflamingo and two Devil Fruits?" Sengoku frowned, his concern deepening. The mention of the Shichibukai had been the centre of their earlier discussion.
