140 The first dance - 1

Caroline couldn't believe what she heard.

She blanked out for a second and then ran behind him.

"Nubeous!"

"Lord Nubeous!"

But with that dress of hers, running was not an easy chore. She stepped on the inner layers of her dress and stumbled down.

"Ouch!" 

Clutching her elbow, she winced in pain and closed her eyes as she had badly hurt herself. Taking a deep breath when she opened her eyes, she watched him standing next to her, stretching out his hand for her.

But she chose to get up by herself without holding his hand and mumbled, "I need to talk to you. Please!"

"Are you hurt?"

And upon hearing that question, she looked up at him. As her eyes scanned his face, she could read genuine concern for her.

'Is he the same man who almost tried to strangle her that morning!' 

"I am fine... I just stepped over…"
