Entrance Assessment III

There are about 20 compactments which can host twenty people at a time, which means the compactments available can host 400 people at a time. Twenty aspirant were called to each of the compactments and the second challenge was about to begin.

The compactments were made in such a way that it has 10 rooms, each room with different mana pressure, the further you get the higher the pressure.

Because 800 people passed the first assessment, and the compactments available can only accomodate 400 at a time, they were splited into two groups. The first were to take theirs at the moment while the second group wait for the first group to finish theirs.

Iode chose to stay with the second group to hear the testimony of those from the first group, he sat down on the grassy meadow.

"Hi there". A female voice sounded from Iode's back, he turned back to see who it was. Iode couldn't take his eyes off her, been mesmerized by her beauty, she has a long jet black hair, with wide brown eyes, she's a witch and stood behind Iode fidgeting her fingers. He fell in love at first sight.

"Um, hi" Iode replied with a red tomato face.

"My name is Olivia, um, i saw your point back there, are you a one star mage?" She asked.

Iode was taken aback with this question and was quite embarrassed to answer.

"I'm also a one star mage, i got the same point as you". Olivia said with a shy face.

Iode was surprised to hear this, and was a bit frozen. Olivia seeing his reaction, thought she had met the wrong person and wanted to leave, but Iode came back to his senses.

"Oh, wait, don't go, i was just surprised to see a fellow one star mage, you know one star mage of our age is quite rare". He said while scratching his head.

"By the way, I'm Iode, it's good to see a fellow one star mage and beautiful maiden". He said smiling, shaking Olivia's hand.

Olivia smiled and sat down with Iode on the grassy meadow, looking at at the compactments afar.

"Most of those that were eliminated in the first assessment were one star mages, we were lucky to have passed". Olivia said.

"Lucky uh, i hope i have that throughout the assessment". Iode said.

"I heard no single star mage has passed this entrance assessment before even though we are allowed to take part".

"How many times have you enrolled to this academy". Iode asked.

"This is my first time, i hope i pass". Olivia replied with a smile while crossing her fingers.

Iode has seen this reaction too many times in the past, infact he himself has done it several times too and wasn't surprised seeing a newbie in the club do such things.

"What about you?". Olivia asked in return.

"Actually, this is my fifth attempt, after this I'm no longer trying". Iode replied.

Olivia can see the sadness in his voice and face, though this is their first time meeting, hearing someone's sad and heartbreaking experience is not too good, she decides not to ask any further.

"I'm been trying to breakthrough for years, still, I'm a one star mage, but I believe if i enter the academy, i might find a solution to my problem that's why I keep trying". Iode said with a determined face.

Olivia seeing him, giggled. Iode seeing her giggling turned red.

"Why are you giggling". Iode asked.

"It's your face, it's funny". Olivia replied

"I'm funny?" Iode asked.

"A bit, but don't worry Iode, you'll enter the academy and you'll breakthrough soon". Olivia replied. She stretched her hand and brought her small finger to Iode.

"Let's promise each other and do our best to meet in the academy whether this year or the following one". She said to Iode with a stern face.

Iode seeing her determination, her wish to see him enter the academy together with the phrase 'this year or the following one' , moved him as she's implying that he shouldn't give up yet.

He crossed his small finger with hers and said.

"A promise is a promise, let's meet at the academy this year or the following one".

A loud horn sounded signaling that the first group have finished theirs and it's their turn. Iode and Olivia looked at each other, took a deep breath and ready to face the second challenge together.
