Mile's Gap

[POV: MOON FOWLER]

"Moon. Make a place for Mom and kids." The place is already big enough to fit an elephant. I can't push myself to the walls now! "Mm." Who does even wanna answer you, especially watch your face as if you're a dishy, not even a match of a dishwasher?

"Is this how you answer me, Moon!? How puerile!" Huh? Does that even make sense here?

"Puerile? Me? You better watch your tongue before spouting nonsense." I sounded acerbic. Rolling eyes in chagrin, how- sh*t forget it. It's just a waste of time to mention a ridiculous person like me. Puke runs out of me when I realize that a person like him even exists.

"Moon!" He yelped but in seconds, "Dear Moon, can you please pass me the water bottle?" He changed his whole attitude. Of course, my Mom occurred. Fu*k he addressed me "Dear". I wanna puke on his damnsh*t face! "Sure, Uncle Ren." If it's about faking, don't mind I will support you, Uncle Ren. Fortunately,  you got Mom to save or else you know me well.

"Sister Moon, I want to sit with Miko." Say that again, I'm gonna pull off your tongue! I don't have to speak when my black look has taken out his sweat in seconds. Heh! But my Mom,

"Dear Race, you can sit wherever you want. Put the permission aside." She literally spoiled everything and eventually mixed it in the water. To DESTROY! Shh! Mommy! My hand was a barrier for Miko. I directly pointed a sure NO to his face, in eye language surely.

"Onee-san, what are you up to now?" She whispered fiercely. How dare you! I narrowed my eyes widened with an evil look at her, boiled off her showcase anger on me.

"Race, sit beside my Mom!" I said it then it must happen. "Moon, don't drive yourself strict on my Brother at least." You don't have to interrupt, Winter Page. Otherwise, you know, my Mom will add up next to remind me of my manners, presenting her respected self, of course.

"Moon…" Finally, she interrupted. "Where are your manners gone?" She whispered harshly behind a kind smile. I know your true colours, Mom. Guaranteed, you'll literally burn my ears with your long hours of lectures not even ever a professor would have taken.

"No, where they are with me only. I just tossed them out just now." This is called adding fuel to the fire. There's no doubt now. Mom won't even think before stretching out my body like a dough. Ha…, no point In regretting now…!

...…

"Let me help you, Uncle," Winter said, stretching out his hands towards the luggage held in Uncle Ren's hands. With a kind smile, he said thank you and suddenly passed me an angry eye. How can he even act so strict to me like I'm not helping, huh? See I'm weighing Mom's handbag! I know it's light but at least I'm helping, no!

"Ah. This is how you're assisting me, right Moon?" Oh god! Why does he often pick up wars with me?! "Actually Uncle I need Moon's help too." Everything resumed in slow motion. Winter held my hand and put up with me in my room itself. … .I know it must be stalwart to him but isn't that said to be false to break in others' weights yet I should apprehend that he just strained to enable me out of Uncle Ren after scrutinizing him.

"C'mon, Moon. Why is there a mile's gap between you and your Uncle?" I shrugged and looked ordinarily at him. He splashed the cardboard box on the floor and swung around my neck to pin the wall. Ash! That force! "Wi… Winter, are you gonna suffocate me to death?!"

He sighed. Tolerating out my neck, he crouched down, keeping up his knees. His gloomy eyes and brought-down face turned me into a soft-spoken person. "What are you thinking about?" I hunkered down beside him. He welcomed me with a sad face.

"As you think about your Uncle, he isn't that kind of man." I was quiet and focused my whole attention on him to accept what he wanted to say.

"You think he is bad because he often clashes with you but in reality, he truly cares about you. When you were transferred to Thailand he would often go to your room and see your photos where he disappeared but still smiles as if you were at least there."

I don't know whether to believe it or not…

"Do you know why your Mom came to Thailand?" Yea… I never asked her the reason why she was in Thailand. I handed over a daze at him.

"Your Uncle was missing you. That's the cause why your Mom came to you."

I was… I was flabbergasted. The person who never wants to tolerate me as his daughter, can even miss me…? Can ever love me as a step-father? He often sees me as a disruption who can just destroy his family. He never wanted me to be a part of his family. Oftentimes, I just get halted by his cold-eyes and cold-hearted words. I stretched my hands around my knees and then gazed at Winter with gloomy sights.

"If he loves and cares about me then why would he often see me as an outsider?"

He then replied with a short smile. "How do fathers know to show their love and care for their children? They look like the sun but they are moons from the inside."

How heartwarming words he says. He has such a gentle voice to melt a hard noise. Somewhere… deep into my heart, his words touched so hard enough.

Maybe… I never tried to understand Uncle Ren's heart.

When the first time he came home with Mom, I began chasing him with hatred. No matter what he did to make me happy, I Would just spoil it in the end. Tarnished his cookies which he made for me heartily, tossed the clothes he had chosen for me, and threw out the stationary he fetched for my first day of high school. I presently spoiled everything… everything.

It was the cause of why today I wrangled against him and he too. I never accepted him as a father in my heart, never let him know about me, and never tried to know about his thoughts of me… How cruel I behaved with him?! I'm indeed a heartless person as he would say.

I was the one behind Uncle Ren's behaviour today. If I was a good daughter I would have a good father though he is my step-father.

"Moon, don't be upset. I know you realized everything." He gave a kind smile while caressing my hair gently. Even the thought of misunderstanding Winter… was also wrong. I'm so touched by this guy…
