2 Chapter 2 (Betrayal 2)

After a while, Roxanne stopped laughing, she stood with a blank expression on her face and gave the couple a cold glare.

"Why do I need to care if she gets hurt? Isn't that what I wanted in the first place? Unlike the first time, her voice did not quiver.

The change in her demeanor made her voice sound cold.

Roxanne broke into a small laugh. "You b******d, I haven't even touched her yet and you are already running berserk like a mad man. It's a shame that I fell in love with such a scumbag like you." She said in self-pity. Her voice and face were devoid of any emotion as she stared at Bruce.

"I guess all your effort and work was worth it, right? In order to have a relationship with me, it took you a whole year to chase me around. Even though I gave you a chance and a shot, I have come to realize that I was never really in love with you. I was just so desperate for love that my judgement was clouded. Now I can see it was all a lie, and I was a fool for believing it."

Roxanne had realized the truth, but it was already too late now for regrets. The damage had already been done and she had been fooled by the false promises and empty words of someone she thought genuinely cared for her.

Bruce's face was still red in anger, and Roxanne's words made him frustrated.

"Roxanne, Shut up you stupid b***h. Do you think you have the right to barge into my house and just talk to me any way you like?" Bruce yelled in anger and his voice echoed through the room

His rage was so intense that he couldn't find the words to express it, so he just screamed at her in frustration. Bruce could never really stand Roxanne because she was a very prideful woman. He wouldn't even approach her in the first place. If it weren't for the secret scheme they planned, he wouldn't even approach her in the first place.

"No you should shut up" Roxanne retorted. "And keep my name out of your mouth. I still can't believe that after everything I've done for your pathetic life, you dare to ignore me and treat me like I don't exist." She looked at him with complete disgust.

Roxanne could not believe Bruce still had the audacity to act as if he had done nothing wrong. It was evident from his actions that she was not worthy of his respect.

An acute pain in her hand shifted her focus, and she glared at Bruce when she saw the bruise and injury on her hand. Bruce, however, didn't show her any regard, because he had now turned his attention back to Sandra.

Roxanne became so disgusted by this scene that she lost control of herself and tried to attack both Bruce and Sandra to break them apart.

She rushed at them with Sandra as her main target but Bruce was quick enough to react on time to shield Sandra with one arm and push back Roxanne with his other arm.

"How dare you lay your disgusting hands on me?" Roxanne shouted.

"I don't understand what you're aiming to accomplish here," Sandra said, her tone making it clear that she wasn't willing to take any more criticism from Roxanne.

"Bruce was only trying to protect me when you suddenly attacked and you're the one who got hurt in the end. So don't try to blame him for your misfortune." She clung to Bruce's hand tightly.

"Roxanne, I know that this is a lot to take in but you should just get over it because you and Bruce were never meant to be together. He was never your man to begin with but mine and he was totally in love with me." Sandra boasted.

"Why? What did I ever do to you? I even distanced myself from the family in order to avoid any clash with you all, but why do you all keep pestering me?" Roxanne asked.

"Frankly speaking, you did keep your distance well enough but I have always hated your guts. You carry yourself like you're the queen of the world and as if no one could match the level of your standards. I despised how you always looked down on me and how you got all the recognition despite me being the oldest. I des...."

"So basically it was just jealousy." Roxanne interrupted Sandra who was pouring out all the emotions she had bottled up inside herself.

Roxanne couldn't comprehend all the facts Sandra had just mentioned. She never intended to behave in that way but ever since her mother died and her father remarried she had always tried to maintain a reserved personality.

However, she never posed a threat to anyone, but that wasn't enough reason to make a fool out of her.

"I'm not jealous of you Roxy, I just want what you have." Sandra said and shrugged her shoulders

"It's pointless because you can never have what I own and you won't get anything out of this either except for just making a fool out of me."

"You're mistaken sister, there's much more for me to gain from this, did you think we would actually allow you to own it all for life."

"What do you mean by that?" Roxanne asked cluelessly.

"Bruce, why don't you explain things to my little sister." Sandra answered.

"You see Roxanne, a few months ago I gave you documents to sign for our marriage certificate. However it was a lie, it was a change of ownership for your mother's shares that was willed to you to us."

Roxanne was taken aback by what she had just heard.

"You see, sister? All this while you've been a fool and not as smart as you thought you were." Sandra teased as she laughed wickedly.

Both Sandra and Bruce shared a passionate kiss, while Roxanne stared at them with a dumbfounded expression.

"Wow, what a fateful relationship between a jerk and a bitch. I hope your relationship lasts for a long time." Roxanne commented sarcastically.

"That's enough, Roxanne. Thinking about the past encounter and our relationship, I will disregard everything you've said and done here. I'll let you walk out of here as a free woman because we're no longer engaged " Bruce said.

When Roxanne met his eyes, a wave of emotion washed over her. She was struck by the fact that the person to whom she had lost everything had been him.

Roxanne covered her mouth with her hand as her face turned red from suppressing her laughter. She was losing her mind from all the drama she had experienced in the last thirty minutes.

Both Bruce and Sandra stared at her in confusion.

"The fact that Bruce is letting you leave due to your relationship is something you should appreciate. Therefore, I advise you not to be foolish and just leave. You no longer own anything and everything you once valued is now ours. Don't make any decisions that you will regret." Sandra said with a smug smile.

Roxanne was struck by the words of Sandra. She gritted her teeth in anger. " Shut that filthy damn mouth of yours" Roxanne snapped loudly, "Wait till father finds out about this." She added.

"You're only making things harder for yourself if you keep acting like this." Bruce shook his head in pity while Sandra laughed uncontrollably and once again, Roxanne was the only one that was clueless.

"Oh Roxy! You're completely delusional, dad of all people. Did you think I would be able to pull this off all on my own?" Sandra asked.

"No, no....there is no way?" Roxanne shook her head in disbelief.

"It's true, even dad knew about this from the very start. You see while you were busy making money we were making plans for ourselves. Fortunately, you don't have anyone to support you. It sure is lonely at the top." Sandra was totally enjoying seeing the horrific state Roxanne was currently in.

Roxanne had a cold glint flashing in her eyes as she looked at Sandra. Suddenly, she sprinted towards her and the sound of being slapped hard on the cheeks echoed throughout the room.

'PA! PA!'

Sandra was slapped hard on both cheeks by Roxanne. She fell to the ground and bruised herself as Roxanne shoved her away.

Seeing what had happened, Bruce immediately ran towards where Sandra had fallen down. He cupped her swollen red face in his hand.

Tears slipped down Sandra's face as she looked up at Bruce. "Bruce, it hurts a lot." Her throat tightened with emotion as she whispered to Bruce. Even after the initial sting had worn off, the pain of the slap still seemed to linger. It was as if all of Roxanne's anger had been contained in the slap.

Bruce raised his head to look at Roxanne who was looking down on them and standing there completely emotionless.

"You both might have won this time and I have lost everything to you. My life has been taken away from me by you guys, however, I want you to remember I swore on the grave of my mother that I will make sure you pay; I will haunt you until I vindicate you for your crimes and ensure that you are punished, so please keep this in mind." Roxanne declared and left without waiting for a response.

By the time she stepped out of the mansion it was raining, and the once clear and star-filled sky had completely disappeared. Roxanne didn't have the chance to think about the weather. She ran out into the rain, as the tears that she had suppressed in the mansion came gushing down her face.

Because she was so preoccupied with her thoughts, she didn't realize she had run into the road and hadn't noticed that a truck was coming her way.

A loud honk from a car jolted her back to reality. But before she could react to process the situation she was in. It was too late to escape the road as the truck was only a few feet away.

'BANG!!'

She got hit hard by the car, sending her body a few feet away. She landed on the cold ground covered in her own blood.

"Ugh! So this...is it, this is how it will e...end?" Roxanne grunted in pain.

"Mother, I..I am sorry. It is my fault that you..... have been let... down by this daughter of yours. Please forgive me." Roxanne said as she looked up at the sky.

The rain fell on her face as her eyes slowly began to close. She drew her last breath in the middle of the road as her eyes closed, completely losing her consciousness and falling into darkness.
