“Nope. I’m here and listening.”

His fingers went back to stroking mine. Their gentle touch lit a fuse from hand to groin. But then I remembered Charlie and how he’d looked when I first met him. I sighed. Rick gave my hand a little pat and nodded to continue my story.

“Anyway, Manuel taught me a little Spanish, a few moves in the bedroom, and to enjoy ceviche and sangria. He said it was important to extend the citrus taste from the fish to the drink.”

I laughed and shook my head.

“I didn’t know how much of a bullshit artist he was at the time. When I met Charlie, Manuel and I were sharing a bedroom, so we had one to spare.”

Rick poured us the remainder of the sangria. A waiter scurried up to the table.

“More?” Rick asked me.

“No. Lemon water is all I want. And need.”

We both sat back, waiting for the water and main course.

“So Charlie?”

“Ah, yes. Sorry to make this so long winded.
