CHAPTER FOUR (REALISTIC DREAM 2)

"Mom... Okay I am so sorry but I didn't feel that it was that important for you to know about it."

"Every little details about your life is important to me because I am your mother and it's my duty to guide and protect you from any danger. So from now on Tinu, always tell me everything okay?"

"Okay mom. I promise, pinky promise." I said smiling.

"Good, even if you don't want to put on glasses, you should wear your headband and come downstairs quickly."

"Alright ma."

Mom smiled and went out. I quickly wore the headband and went straight to the dinning table. My parents were already there waiting for me to join them, for it's a family tradition. No one eats until the family is complete.

"Sorry mom and dad for coming late."

"No problem. Just come and sit down."

I drew out a chair and sat down. I looked at Daddy Zee all decked up in his white body hug T-shirt showing his masculine build and blue jeans with a pair of blue sneakers to go with it.

He looked like an under 30, he doesn't age at all. "No wonder he always have a charming effect on every woman. I could remember the day he dropped me off at school and one of my friend Marbel, said that she will love to be my dad's friend if possible his girlfriend."

My mom also look beautiful in her blue flowing gown with an angelic smile on her face as she served us our breakfast of fried yam, scrambled eggs and pineapple juice to flush it down. After the meal, I went over to my mom and told her that she is the best mom and the best cook in the world. "I usually like to flatter her but this is the truth."

Few minutes after 8 (eight) we were in the car. Dad was driving and I was in the back seat miming the song that was playing from the car radio.

Mom always tells me that I am a very good singer just like her and that if it's were up to her she would have chosen singing as a profession but she is now a full house wife.

She also told me that if I wanted to be a musician, she would support me and make my dreams come true. Later on dad switched the radio to another channel where they were airing his favorite show known as "Bosenlo" (how it's going).

On the show they were talking about a young seventeen year old girl who has aborted three children for her boyfriend with the help of their neighborhood nurse and that she was planning on eloping with the boy when her parents found out, the matter was taken to court and both the boy and the nurse have been sent to jail.

The girl was pardoned because she was still under the age of those who can't be sent to jail. The host of the show seek for advice from the audience as to how the girl's parents can correct her and bring back the good child in her. He called out a few numbers to which you can call and give your opinion, then he rounded up the topic and started another one.

Daddy Zee shake his head and sighed. "What is the world now turning to? Even a seventeen year old is now involved in having abortions. And her parents never found out until after the third abortion, what negligence. What are other parents expected to do about their children?" Daddy Zee asked.

"We parents have to do a lot for our kids, so that they don't turn out to be criminals or do wrong things in the future but these children they are talking about were neglected by their parents, if not they would have known what was happening ahead of time and they would have also found a way to prevent it from happening and if it has already happened they would have stopped the media from knowing about it and stopped their family from going through this embarrassment." Mom answered.

Daddy Zee shake his head again and said "And that stupid and wicked nurse was helping them out. Such a person should never set her foot back into a hospital or else she would do worst."

Mom turned back to the passenger seat and said to me. "Tinu, I hope you heard what was said in that programme, please and please I am not stopping you from having a boyfriend but you should always tell me about it. And you should be very careful with guys. And"

"You should let us meet him before you agree to be his girlfriend." Daddy Zee put in.

When we got to my school, we all came out from the car. I could see my friends running towards me and I also started walking to where they were but mom stopped me. She bent down and held my hands then said to me. "Atinuke mi, don't forget what I said to you. You can go to your friends now."

I nodded. "Mom I will never never make you regret giving birth to me." After saying this i ran to my friends.

My parents went to meet the other parents and I went with my friends to our classroom. The other students were busy chatting, I saw George among them, I loosed my ponytail and weay my hair to the side then went over to him. "Hi George, what's up."

He turned and looked at me.

"Hey you. How are you doing?" He asked.

"I am fine and you?" I asked smiling at him.

He looked at me again. "You are not wearing your glasses today?"

"Yeah. I decided to give it a day off." I replied. He smiled and came closer, he wispered into my ear. "That was a great idea because you looked very beautiful without those wierd glasses."

I was blushing and pulled my hair forward to cover my face so that he wouldn't notice it. "Thanks for the compliment George."

He placed his hand on my shoulder and said. "C'mon let's get going, the competition is about to start and you know we have to win the debate and quiz competition. Mr Abraham is counting on us."
