Chapter 8: Into the Beast Mountain and Gu Feng' Handsomeness

The Beast Mountain was divided into 3 parts.

The Outer Area, the Inner Area, and lastly, the Core Area. That being said how vast the Beast Mountain was.

"The vicious beasts in the outer area are mostly at Dou Zhi Qi (Dou Disciple) Rank and the most powerful vicious beasts are at the peak." While treading inside, Gu Fengcai wasted no time explaining things.

"And as for today, you have to explore within the outer area alone, brat."

"I thought you're going to protect me?" Gu Feng asked in confusion. Even if he had to go alone, he was not afraid since he had a trump card up in his sleeve. Moreover, he was not that weak, to begin with.

'In addition, the memories I received are not a joke.' In the past, the original Gu Feng had already fought abundant vicious beasts. before, and most of the time, he ended up killing them successfully.

With that said, even without the hand grenade, Gu Feng was still optimistic in fighting a vicious beast even if it was the same stage as him.

"She can choose either to work out with you or be on her own." Although Gu Fengcai allowed Gu Fei to follow them that didn't mean that she had to come along with them all the time. If she wanted, she could go on her own. Naturally, that would be bad for many reasons.

Fortunately, Gu Fei had no intention of being alone in his dangerous place.

"Second Elder, young master Feng, I'll be following behind." Gu Fei cupped her hands before speaking.

"That's wonderful." Gu Feng smiled feeling a little bit happy.

After all, with a Lackey Bank voluntarily followed him around, he would be able to harvest Lackey Points along the way!

'Please, conjure a monster or something that will scare Gu Fei a bit so I can get to play a hero and earn some Lackey Points.' Gu Feng dutifully prayed in his heart.

"Let's go, then." After a moment, Gu Feng strode forward with a serious expression on his face, followed behind by Gu Fei then Gu Fengcai who was few meters away from them.

'Brat, this old man has given his everything just to make this chance for you. It will be your choice if you take this or not.'

All events that started with 2 bystanders spouting about Gu Fengcai's arrangement for Gu Feng in the Beast Mountain to Gu Fei seeing him gardening outside were all, of course, Gu Fengcai's plans.

However, as he bowed to himself before, he would never partake in Gu Feng's personal love life so he didn't use the condition to force Gu Fei to be Gu Feng's Dao Companion and only wanted her to be his genuine friend.

Unknown to them, a few dozens of meters away from them, a figure was standing behind a large tree and was discreetly looking at the trio with a crude smile on his wrinkled face.

'Gu Feng, let this handsome and youthful grandfather of yours help you.' The figure inwardly thought as his smile became wider.

A large 4 green-scaled phyton angrily hissed at a young man in front of it.

With a sharp and durable sword in his hand, the youth, who was obviously Gu Feng hastily shouted at Gu Fei who was standing behind him.

"Back off! Although this Poisonous Phyton is only a 7th Stage Dou Zhi Qi(Dou Disciple) vicious beast, it's experienced a mutation. I speculate that its strength is comparable to average 9nth Stage Dou Zhi Qi(Dou Disciple) cultivators! Moreover, its poison is so potent that getting one hit from it will kill you instantly!" Gravely spoke Gu Feng as he gripped his sword tighter.

"Impressive!" Gu Fengcai clapped his hands.

"Not only are you talented, but also knowledgeable about vicious beasts! Truly, your Dao Companion will be lucky to have you!" Saying so, he 'discreetly' looked at Gu Fei who once again, flinched from his gaze.

This was the 8th time this scenario happened.

In a span of 3 hours, the trio had already met and fought with several Stage Dou Zhi Qi(Dou Disciple) ranked vicious beasts. And, every time, Gu Feng would flamboyantly stand in front of her with his sword in his hand as he then spoke about the vicious beasts' origins and weakness, then Gu Fengcai would applaud and yell about 'how lucky Gu Feng's Dao Companion would be' while looking at her, over and over again.

Gu Fei tried her best to ignore the eccentric duo and would often go several meters away from them to find the herb she was looking for.

Although the precious herb was unlikely to be in the Outer area, it didn't hurt her to try her luck to find it.

And till this time, even with her perseverance in finding the herb, it was still met with failure after failure.

'It seems I will not be able to find it this time.' Gu Fei thought while feeling down.

Seeing Gu Fei's expression, Gu Fengcai internally laughed.

'Hit the iron while it's hot.' With that thought in mind, Gu Fengcai grabbed a small pebble from the ground and threw it at Gu Feng's head.

"The hell was that?!" Gu Feng angrily turned around, already knew that it was his 'grandfather's' doing.

He was about to slash out when he saw Gu Fengcai's mouthing a few words.

"Inner Area?" He subconsciously spoke out.

Gu Feng was confused. Why would his 'grandfather silently and secretly' mouth this to him?

Did he want to go to Inner Area?

If so, why he was not the one who said it?

However, his confusion was soon answered.

"You want to venture into the Inner Area? You sure are brave as your grandpa!" Gu Fengcai laughed wildly as if feeling proud his 'grandson' having some guts.

Meanwhile, the feeling down Gu Fei suddenly trembled.

If they were to go into the Inner Area, the chances of her finding that precious herb would increase!

Realizing that, her fiery ruby eyes shone in hope as she looked at Gu Feng.

"..." Gu Feng glanced at Gu Fei's hopeful eyes and fell into contemplation.

He had 2 options in hand. One was to refute Gu Fengcai's words and not head towards the Inner Area and the other one was to agree and venture in.

'The first is full of drawbacks with little to no benefits and the second was filled with benefits but also has a high-risk.' Just by looking at Gu Fei's hopeful eyes, Gu Feng had realized how grave the matter would be if he were to refuse.

Not only would he waste Lackey Points, but Gu Fei would also resent him for betraying her expectations. And for a Lackey Bank to resent him was also akin to being a small-time antagonist in a novel!

Gu Feng didn't put any of his attention on his 'grandfather' since he was laughing in happiness internally upon looking at the notification panel floating before his eyes.

"Lass, we're heading into the Inner Area. Are you still going to follow us or return to the Clan?" Gu Fengcai 'asked' for Gu Fei's decision even though he already knew the answer.

"I still wish to follow the Second Elder and the young master. Please, let this youngster." Gu Fei cupped her hands while bowing a little bit lower than usual.

"What do you think, brat?" Naturally, Gu Fengcai would never waste a chance like this so he turned to ask for Gu Feng's answer.

He was showing to Gu Fei that Gu Feng was the one who had the power to either let her follow or not.

This way, if Gu Feng agreed, he would garner Gu Fei's gratefulness.

And, gratefulness might turn into goodwill, then turned into like and then finally, love!

This was why he mouthed off the words 'Inner Area' to Gu Feng in the first place!

"Not a problem at all! In fact, I would be happier if a beauty comes with us!" As many say, like Grandfather like Grandson, both of them didn't waste any chance and tried their best to achieve their goals!

On one hand, Gu Fengcai wanted a better future for Gu Feng. And in his mind, it would be realized if he became Gu Fei's Dao Companion.

And both of their goals would be fulfilled by pleasing Gu Fei!

Since they would be entering the Inner Area, where most of the vicious beasts were at Dou Zhe(Dou Practitioner), Gu Fengcai took the lead while Gu Fei and Gu Feng glued together behind, watching the surroundings attentively.

Just by behind them, an individual was looking at them with eyes filled with haughtiness.

'I have prepared a present for you, Gu Feng. Make sure to take it all.' With a step, his figure vanished, merging into the surroundings.

As Gu Fengcai lead the group, Gu Feng nudged Gu Fei as he asked in a muttering tone.

"What is your goal?"

Gu Fei didn't like someone to touch her so casually, but she held her frustration inside and kept a stoic expression.

No matter what, she just needed to endure this for her mother's well-being. She knew what the Second Elder implying so she was trying her best not to antagonize Gu Feng in any way.

However, if Gu Feng went too far in exploiting her to the point of 'humiliating' her in this dangerous place. She would not hesitate to chop off Gu Feng's 'banana' before killing herself.

That would surely implicate her family back in the Clan, but she was sure that they would understand it.

Because they were the ones who encouraged her to commit that if it that ever happened.

"No. Neither of them. I'm just here for personal reasons." Gu Fei shook her head.

"If you don't want to share it then okay." Shrugging his shoulders, Gu Fei resumed surveying the surroundings.

Although Gu Fei had not disclosed that much information, Gu Feng had already had his guesses.

'It's about his mother, I presume.'

Gu Fei's parents were quite famous in the past. Not only they were talented in cultivation, but they also had been once two of the pillars in the Gu Clan.

However, Gu Fei's father mysteriously disappeared and her mother was crippled and became ill.

The Gu Clan spent an ample amount of resources to find Gu Fei's missing father and healing her mother who was at the brink of death.

Why that happened to them was still unknown to the clan. They assumed that Gu Fei's parents must have had offended a powerful figure or organization. Ultimately, no one knew the real cause but only the 2 individuals, Gu Fei's parents.

They couldn't ask Gu Fei's mother since she was in a coma and more obviously, they wouldn't be able to get the truth from the missing father either for obvious reasons.

'If she wanted to train herself, she could do it in the Clan. Or maybe, she wanted to personally fight unrestrained and bloodthirsty vicious beasts unlike the ones in the Clan, however, she didn't even try to fight even the weakest vicious beasts we encountered earlier. Lastly, not only did she left several times in the past hours, but she was attentively looking all around more than anyone in the group as if she was looking for something.' Gu Feng then secretly took a glance at Gu Fei, who was in full concentration and was looking everywhere with her scrutinizing eyes.

'If I'm correct, she may be looking for a treasure that can magically wake up her mother or a herb that is needed for the pill to wake her mother up. And by how pleased she was when we decided to enter the Inner Area, the thing she is looking for is possibly rare.'
