28 Chapter 26

"Hector?" I question softly.

"What are you doing here? I thought you were dead!" I got up and went to the front of the cell, feeling a little relieved that he was alive. Wait, when did he get his arm back?

"Hector, your arm, it's back how? How did you get away from them?" He just scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"Are you that naive? I'm with them. Everything has been staged from the beginning; it was just magic hiding my arm." I gasped at this and backed away from the front of the cell.

"How could you?" He smiled at this.

"I want more. More power, more recognition, immortality." I'm disgusted. He betrayed his family, all of us.

"You're a horrible pathetic person." He opened up the door and stalked towards me. I really need to keep my mouth shut. It wasn't long before he closed the distance between completely, and not long after, I felt a hard impact to the side of my face. I looked back at him, and for some reason, I wasn't scared. Not anymore, at least. If I were going to die, I wouldn't be giving them the satisfaction of my fear.

"You better learn to shut your mouth. Remember your place, human." He spat. When he went to turn around, I stopped him.

"Hey, Hector." He turned around at that moment with an annoyed expression.

"What?" Right then, I did the only thing I could think of doing. I kicked him right where it hurts the most. He doubled over in pain, and I took that opportunity to knee him in the face. He flew back with a pained grunt. Not wasting any time, I ran over and kicked him as hard as I could in the side of his face. He seemed to be out cold. I hurriedly grabbed the keys and ran over to let Julian out.

"Mila, that was so badass!" I just shyly smiled.

"Okay, let's get out of her. Mila, stay close to me." I just nodded my head. Shit, you don't have to ask me twice.

He led the way to the door to get out. He froze all of a sudden.

"Someones coming." He grabbed my wrist, and we posted up against the wall by the door. Soon two guys came in, and right as soon as they did, Julian punched the first guy in the face, then took the second guy's head in his hand, twisting till you hear a sickening snap. He then went towards the other guy who was still recovering and snapped his neck as well. He turns back to me, his eyes glowing.

"I'm sorry you had to see that." I just shook my head.

"No need to apologize. We have to do what we have to do. It's them or us." He nodded his head in agreement. He softly grabbed my wrist again and brought me up the stairs. He looked in each direction, and you could see him using his senses to see if anyone was close.

"It's clear for now. I smell woods this way; we'll head to them, then I'll shift. You'll ride on my back." He whispered out.

"Okay," I whispered back to him. We stealthy made it to the backyard, but we were met with horrible luck. At least seven wolves were surrounding us. Two of them shifted, and I became extremely uncomfortable since they were completely naked.

"Josh? Xavier?" Julian questioned in surprise.

"Don't look so surprised, Julian. You know we've always had a distaste for humans. We want them to be our slaves." The guy I believe to be Josh said. The two guys then looked at me.

"Yes, I agree with Josh. The power would be unimaginable. Making the inferior species do whatever we want them to." The guy looked me straight in the eyes while licking his lips. That is absolutely disgusting. I know my face was scrunched in a repulsed expression.

"You little bitch! You're dead." I whipped my head around to see Hector coming towards us. Behind him was my dad with an evil smirk on his face. Great, just great. I rolled my eyes and huffed.

"Julian, what are we going to do?" He just looked at me with concern

"We just have to fight and hope for the best." I honestly think we might be screwed. I looked around me for anything that could be used as a weapon, and all I found was a small yet sturdy tree branch about the size of a bat. It'll have to do. I'm biting the inside of my cheek so hard that I can taste blood, but it helps distract me from the pain of my broken arm. I have to fight through the pain If I'm going even remotely to survive this.

Julian and I went back to back, preparing to fight. I look behind me, not feeling Julian's back near mine anymore, to find him in his wolf form. I looked back towards Hector and my dad and braced myself to fight for my life.

Emma's POV:

"Emma!" Chloe yelled out my name and ran to me.

"We found them; They aren't too far from where we're at! They are just in the mountains. We have a team ready now." I hurried and grabbed a gun, some extra ammo, and a couple of knives. This wasn't going to be pretty.

I was on edge the whole way there. We had to take cars instead of teleport there because they would sense the magic. It felt like forever before we got there. We all huddled together once we were out of the cars.

"Everybody knows the plans, correct?"Everyone nodded their heads.

"Good. Break into your groups and get into positions. Await my signal." At that moment, we broke up and went to our respective spots. Once they all linked back to let me know they were ready, I gave the signal.

We all stealthy made our way towards the house they were shown to be located at. I didn't see much movement in the front, so I checked in with other groups to see if they saw anything. It was the backside group that replied that there was a huge fight. They saw Julian fighting off seven wolves, and Mila was swinging a stick at two guys. I growled at this. I linked the backside group, one of the sides, and my group to move into the backyard. I told the other side group to watch out for anyone lurking around and to clear the house.

I immediately rushed to the back yard and towards Mila. With my vampire side taking over, I slammed into the first game knocking him down to the ground with a deafening thud, and backhanded the other guy to the ground. I turned and looked towards Mila, cupping her.

"Are you okay? I'm so sorry I wasn't here sooner." She looked so relieved to see me and hurriedly kissed me.

"I'm alive, and that's all the matters. We need to get out of here." I nodded my head then turned back around to look at the two guys on the ground. One guy I didn't recognize, but I could smell similarities in his blood to Mila. This must be her "father." I then looked to the other guy, and confusion was my first reaction; then, I looked back at Mila.

"He betrayed us." I turned around and bent down, picking Hector up by the collar of his shirt.

"How could you betray?" I growled out. He just smirked. Blood dripped from his lip.

"I want more power and immortality. I deserve more." I threw him on the ground hard once again.

"You are a horrible piece of shit. Pathetic." Right before I was about to finish him off, I got cut off by Mila.

"Emma, watch out!" I turned, but it was too late. I was tackled to the ground by Mila's poor excuse of a father. Fuck I think I dislocated my shoulder. I fought him off, elbowing him in the face. Right, when I was going to do more, I felt myself get brought down to my knees, gasping for hair. Mila immediately came to my side. She then looked up towards Hector with tears in her eyes.

"Stop hurting her, please!" She cried out, but I could tell from the look in Hector's eyes he had no intention of stopping. I started to slip out of consciousness when a hooded figure appeared in the middle of the field. They snapped their finger, and immediately everyone was blown back except Mila, Hector, and me. Hector cut off his powers that were choking me, and I greedily took in many breaths of air. Mila just rubbed my back soothingly. I looked towards the hooded figure and stood up. I was about to run towards them when I felt a force lock me in my place.

"Don't do anything rash now, Emma. I would hate to kill now. Besides, you're still of use to me." They turned towards Hector, and he bowed.

"Your majesty." Figure scoffed.

"I told you not to lay a finger on them. You almost killed Emma, and you know how important her blood is. It has to be fresh." I could see Hector cower and shake in fear. I don't blame him; this being is powerful.

"They tested my patience." He snapped. I could feel the aura around the person turn more violent.

"And you're testing mine. Nevermind, I have no use for you anymore." He was about to respond, but another snap of their fingers and his neck immediately snapped. She turned to the little bitch himself.

"Now you promised me that I would be able to kill Mila and her mom. You promised." The being just manically laughed.

"Dreams die hard." They responded in a sinister voice right before they met the same fate as Hector. Mila just gasped beside me. I pulled her closer to me and slightly behind me.

The figure then turned their attention back on us and didn't move towards us straight away. As they got closer, I stood up, moving Mila completely behind me now.

"So adorable, how you think you can protect her." The person lightly chuckled. I felt the air being sucked out of my lungs as I dropped to the ground gasping.

"You will both corporate, or I will be forced to take extreme measures." Mila stood her ground with confidence I didn't think she could possess in a moment like this.

"I'll kill you." The being burst into fits of laughter before the atmosphere turned extremely tense around us. Mila dropped next to me, gasping for air as well.

"I'll kill everyone you love, Mila. I already have people waiting for a signal to kill your mom and your aunt. Don't forget knocked out and defenseless Chloe and Julian right now too." Soon after, the air filled our lungs back up, and we greedily gulped in oxygen. The being snapped their fingers, and we were in front of the portal.

"Now Emma, I need your blood to bring down this side of the veil. Once this is down, then the veil will drop completely." Emma scoffed.

"Not going to happen." The being snapped their fingers, and I doubled over in pain, clutching my stomach. I could hear and crack after crack. She was breaking each of my ribs.

"Stop! Please just stop!" I heard Mila shout. The being stopped breaking my ribs, but I was still in excruciating pain. The next thing I know, Mila is being lifted into the air and surrounded by this reddish-purple field of energy. She didn't necessarily look in pain, but she did look fragile.

"What are you doing to her? Stop!" The women started laughing.

"I'm just draining her of her life source. I will kill her. Now give me your blood, and I'll think about not killing you both." I couldn't lie and say I wasn't terrified because I was.

"Who are?" I questioned.

"Do you not recognize my voice." I shook my head, no.

"Maybe this will help refresh your memory." They dropped their hood, and I couldn't believe who I was seeing.

"No, it can't be," I said in disbelief. They just manically laughed again.

"Oh, but it is." Just how.

"How are you here? You're supposed to be dead." She just got closer and cupped my cheek. I moved my face away from her hands aggressively. She just tsked at me.

"Now, is that any way to treat your mate?" I got annoyed by this.

"You aren't my mate, Adeline. Cut the crap and tell me how you're here!" I growled out. She got closer and circled me. As she did, I felt her finger trace over my shoulders. I shrugged her hand off from my shoulder. I once craved her touch, but now I'm just repulsed by it.

"It's a long story, really, but I'll just skip to the main parts. I was a witch in disguise; I wanted more power, so I concocted a potion to make you believe we were mates. It worked so well too. You thought I had died because I had no heartbeat. I got what I wanted more immortality, and you know that more power comes with it. Of course, I sacrificed my soul, but it was doomed anyway." She then showed me her blood-red eyes, and I gasped, and she just chuckled. She's a monster.

"Give me your blood Emma." I shook my head, no.

"Not till you let Mila go." She rolled her eyes in annoyance.

"Fine." Mila dropped to the ground, completely weak.

"Lina…" Mila muttered in a feeble voice. So this was Lina. I should have known.
