1 Chapter 1

Unknown POV

It was late at night, finishing my last shift since I work at the graveyard. Not a good paying job but at least its something to do with my time.

As it nears the end of my shift, with me just walking around the whole graveyard site, as with the last few shifts have been. A noise can be heard like someone is crying. I slowly walk towards the noise from where it's coming from.

With my flashlight in my left hand and my right hand hovering over my gun, loaded with bullets. I head towards the crying getting closer and closer as it gets louder and louder. Until I reach a building and that's when it stopped.

The crying just stopped, crying before sound like a woman's cry but hard to make it out and now I will never know. I slowly crept towards the building walking ever so slowly.

"Hello? Anyone in here?" I asked. Looking around inside the building only seeing nothing but coffins and stone. I walk further into the building now fully inside, as its a small space that can only fit maybe three or two people depending on their weight size. I shake my head finding nothing as I go and turn around and standing there is a woman dress in white clothing that looked ruin and ragged.

Her face looked like it was teared and stretch marks on her face and old and decay. I slowly back up until hitting the wall behind a dead end with no escape other then the woman standing there by the door. She slowly walks towards me ever slowly with her moments. I sofly closed my eyes scared not wanting to look.

What felt like minutes only turn into hours. I slowly open my eyes and found no one there. The woman is gone as I sighed with a shaky breath and slowly make my way towards the door until...dip...dip...water it sounded like water...but a pain...inside my chest...I looked down to find a knife into my stomach and laughing, a woman's laugher then...nothing.

Emma's POV

It's a warm sunny day out, its summer time in the middle of July in California. Where the sun always is sunny here with a few rain here and there sometimes with earthquakes as well.

Her alarm starts blusting though her house. She sofly moans then hits the sneeze button and rolls to the side of her bed. She didn't want to get out of bed yet but she will have to here soon. She has to go to work as she will be needed.

She heard about a man being killed while working at night in the graveyard. A knife stab they said. But she doesn't think its a murder. At least it shouldn't be one in this small town. Misty falls, she grow up here when she was a child. She basically knows this small town and its people.

Though this town is slowly dying, families moving away, not much folk around these parts anymore as nothing interesting happens here. They all love to the big city to be famous movie stars, and other stuff all to be apart of some movie. She didn't want to leave, she likes the small town and she is used to it as well.

She was offer to move up to the city but she kindly decline the offer as she didn't want no part of it as they wanted her to work as a receptionist which wasn't going to cut it for her.

She sighed and softly gets up then goes over to get off the bed then slowly make her way to her bathroom. Her house is pretty nice, a single bedroom, a single bathroom, a big living room and middle size kitchen. She didn't need those to be big but the mayor insisted that she has this house so she bought it and lived here ever since.

She solfy takes off her clothes and heads into the showers turning the water on and making sure its warm enough for her but not to warm. She starts cleaning her body washing it with soap then washing her hair with shampoo.

She has a long day ahead of her, she has to go to the crime scene, then look at the body. The bodies is always what bug her, seeing them, she never seen one expect at funeral homes, even then, having to look at one that has been killed by someone then looking to see if they actually been murder. Which in this case it should be an case and closed case if she had to say so.

Though what bug her is who murder the man? He was the only one in the graveyard at night or at least that's what she heard when they found the body and reported it. She guess she could find out. She then finished up her shower then hops out and dries off then her phone goes off. She picked it up and answer it without seeing the number.

"Hello?" Emma asked.

"Hey, detective Holtz, we been trying to reach you but you weren't picking up the phone." The voice said.

"Ooh sorry Eric, I was in the shower, what can I do for you?" Emma asked.

"Well I was wondering if you were going to get involved with this murder?" Eric asked.

"I'm going to be involved yes, am always usually the first to be notified about these type of stuff or should be I should say." Emma said.

"Great! Wonderful, I see you soon I hope?" Eric asked.

"Yep, am heading there right now, see you later Eric." Emma said.

"Alright see yea." Eric said. The call ends and usually he doesn't call so he must be excited for something to happen in this small town. Misty Falls is a town where literally nothing happens. Basically a ghost town as some call it, but to her she didn't mind she liked the quiet and relaxing peace of the town.

But this murder case could be a start of something maybe? But she better head to the murder scene before they decide to call my phone a thousand times more. So she goes to get dress in her suit which involved in a long black pants, a white shirt with buttons then, a black vest, she had already put her bra and panties on before putting her clothes on of course. She's lucky the white shirt isn't see though one.

She then finished and gets her shoes on and car keys with a few other things that she might need like a note pad and a pencil. She then exits her house locking the door behind her then heads for her car. She waves to any neighbors who are out and about, which there is three right now as she hops in her car and started it.

She closed her door then backs up out of her driveway turning the car then heads towards the graveyard, which only takes like a 10 or 15 minute drive. Not far but she will need her car for this just in case as you may never know.

After the 10 or 15 minute drive, she pulls up and seeing police already there and a couple of people as well. She exits her car and seeing a few journalists trying to get in the scene to write more information to get answers but the police aren't allowing them. That's until Emma walks by them and they saw her just walk in easily without a seconf glance from the police officers and she could of sworn she heard "why did she was allowed in?" But she wasn't sure as she made her way to the murder scene with her putting on her gloves and Eric already there taking photos of everything.

"Hey." Emma said.

"Hey, so what you think so far?" Eric asked as he stops taking photos.

"I think that someone had to do it, so the knife where is it?" Emma asked as she looks around and saw no weapon but blood on the ground.

"That's the thing, there is no weapon." Eric said.

"No weapon? Then how the heck did this guy get killed?" Emma asked.

"I don't know, they told me that he looked liked he was stab behind his back and they found his body laying right there." Eric said pointing at where the pool of blood is as its sorta dry now as she makes her way over the pool of blood and enters the building that has coffins with stone along the walls.

"How could anyone get behind him? There is no way?" Emma asked as she steps out of the building looking at the pool of blood and the building.

"Any suspects?" Emma asked.

"Nope, though his boss found here." Eric said.

"Alright, am gonna go and talk to him, you keep taking photos." Emma said.

"Got it boss." Eric said smirking as he goes to take more pictures walking further and further away from the crime scene to look around. For her she heads towards the first suspect. Which hopefully they would provide some leads on this case and sheed some light on this case.

Emma walked to the suspect who is already talking to the police and once they saw her they back off and walked away knowing that she got this as she looked at him.

"Detective Holtz, so tell me what you saw." Emma said looking at the man as he seems a little scared and terrified like he saw a ghost or something.

"W-well...i um..came in the morning...to release him from his shift...and i saw...i saw.." the man stops.

"You saw what? Come on tell me." Emma said.

"I..i think I saw...or I know i saw a woman standing there....looking...at his body....and she was holding something but I couldn't get a good real look at it until...she was gone.. i went to his body and saw the stab wound and called 911." The man said.

"I see, what did this woman look like?" Emma asked curious as she pulls out her note pad and pencil as she waits for him to tell her.

"She was or is I think 4' 5", wearing white ruin and ragged clothing, her face...her face look like..it look like it was a zombie or something as it looked decay." The man said.

"Alright, well thanks for the information, here's my card if you need me, call that number if you can tell us anything else." Emma said as she hands him her business card that had her name and number on there then the police station numbers in case he can't get a hold of her.

"Of course Detective, thank you." The man said.

"Am just doing my job, see you around." Emma said walking away then heads towards the chief to talk to him about the body. As she gets there he seems tired and on edge. Of course he is, his wife just left him to the big city as she wanted to be famous and make a living then to be some wife stuck in a small town with nothing in it taking his kids with her as well.

"Hey chief." Emma said.

"Hey Holtz, find anything?" Chief asked.

"Only a crazy guy thinking he saw a ghost." Emma said.

"Jeez, you think he did it?" Chief asked.

"Hard to say right now, I need more evidence." Emma said.

"If your looking for the body its at the morgue." Chief said.

"Alright, thanks cheif." Emma said then before she could walk off he grabbed her arm gently to whisper to her in her ear.

"Be careful alright, this is a first murder, so there's no telling how dangerous they are." Cheif whispers.

"Of course, you know me, am always careful." Emma said with that Emma walked off towards her car as this day just gets better for her. Her only hope right now and lead is the body and maybe that ghost the graveyard owener talked about. She will worry about the ghost later. First clue, body.
