Chapter Sixteen

" Sister I'm sorry don't be mad, I just wanted a dress ", Rose began to cry which puzzled Abigail. She never said anything to make her cry so what was her problem? She took a step away from rose.

" Rose! What happened?? ", Helen walked into the room with the duchess and Abigail couldn't help but sigh, another poorly acted soap drama. She was too tired for this.

" Mother, I came into sister's room without permission to borrow a dress and now sister is mad, I'm sorry I didn't have anything to wear ", she sniffed as her mother held her in her embrace.

" Abigail your sister just wanted a dress, why can't you just give it to her ", the duchess, Lyra said as she looked at Abigail with disappointment. This daughter of hers was too unreasonable.

" Not only did she not ask, she barged into my room when she thought I wasn't around. Is that right? duchess? ", Abigail asked her mother who was shocked.

" That is not a reason for you to bully her, she is your sister after all ", Lyra spoke again. Abigail rolled her eyes and spoke, " Bully her, I just asked her to leave the room and I didn't say... "

" I'm sorry sister, please don't be mad at me ", Rose went forward to hold her hand and interrupt her. Abigail scoffed and saw how she was trying to make her look bad.

" I've had a long day Rose and I'm tired, as for the dress you and second mother went shopping last week so you should have a nice dress, you have way more than I do so it shouldn't be a problem for you to find one ", she pointed towards the door and asked them to leave kindly. Rose pulled her mother out while the duchess stayed behind .

" Abigail, why are you so unreasonable ", Lyra asked.

" Unreasonable? You and father didn't take me to buy clothes and I don't have that many to begin with as I'm not allowed to buy some on my own accord. I decide to fix them and because they look good I should give them to Rose? ", she questioned. " Rose buys dresses and shoes every other week and you call me unreasonable? I wonder if you're really my mother "

Lyra was stunned by her daughter's sudden outburst, she then clenched her fists, " You're both my daughters... "

" No Rose is, I don't want to discuss any longer, please leave my room ", she pinched the skin between her brows as Lyra was speechless, she stopped herself from speaking further and left the room. Abigail's mind became clearer once her mother left the room, she couldn't stand such irrationality.

After taking a bath, she laid on her bed and fell asleep instantly.

Abigail was having sword practice with her brother and Lucas the very next day and as for the opening.... She didn't plan on going. She already asked Martha to take care of it with Travis, she decided to rest today and catch up with her brother. It was already noon as the siblings sparred with one another while Lucas practiced with a guard. He couldn't stop thinking about how Abigail had changed and become more level headed, she even joined them for sword practice and was surprisingly talented with the sword.

But what surprised and hurt him the most is how she didn't even talk to him and he was completely ignored, the only conversation they had was when she asked him to pass a bottle of water to her. He didn't know why he cared so much, he was supposed to be happy. He continued his practice and soon the butler walked over to the group.

" Lady Abigail someone is looking for you, he said you two are having tea together ", the butler said.

" Tea? I'm not expecting anyone, I'll see who it is ...Thank you ", the butler then bowed and went off. Abigail packed her things and was about to see the visitor when her brother said he'd tag along with Lucas, she agreed and the three left. They reached the lounge and saw a handsome black haired boy with emerald eyes who smiled and waved towards Abigail.

" Leo? Why are you here? ", Abigail asked. He raised a brow and chuckled, " I'm here to see you ofcourse, you said we could eat together some other time and this is another time "

Abigail felt like screaming, why is idiot even here? He might ruin her plans and expose her in front of Gabriel and Lucas. " I thought you were attending an event today, why aren't you there? ", she asked aggressively.

" The place was filled with no name nobles currying favor with each other like a nest of cockroaches, I couldn't stand it so I left ", he was referring to abigail's grand opening for both the restaurant and dessert shop.

She couldn't help but roll her eyes at his cocky remark, " What a narcissist, follow me ", she said to him as she led him to her room.

" Abigail, where are you going with him? ", gabriel asked, he didn't like this guy at all and how he talked with his sister like they were close.

" To my room of course, where else ", but her reply was met with silence from both Gabriel and Lucas.

" You can't ", was the only thing Gabriel said and Abigail gave him a confused look, " Why? I'll see you later brother ", then she faced Leo and quickly led him towards her room before Gabriel could reply.
