A Child was Born

December 08, 1998, a baby was born with a golden hair and white skin. She was the 5th child of Chino and Heina. She was born during a fiesta in their village and her lolo Kino became her local midwife assisted her mama during the labor. Since there's no midwife in their village and hospitals were too far away.

The baby was named Kane and it means golden, beautiful and fighter. Since Kane's mother carrying her was struggling with her while she was still in the womb. For they didn't expect Kane to arrive and so she helps Chino her husband in the farm not knowing that she was already carrying a child. Fortunately, the baby still grows in the womb and now was born.

Kane grew up as a sweet and the most admired child in the village because of her skin and hair. As a little child, she likes to play in the field where her mother and father do the farming. Also swimming in the river and climbing hills with her brothers and sisters.

One day, Kane was playing in the cornfield with her cousin Gema. They asked permission from their lolo Kino since her parents were at the town to buy some basics. "Lolo can we play in the field?" they asked and Kino just nod. Given the permission, the two then rushed to the cornfield. They ran and ran until they ended up in a small hut near the river faraway. In the hut, there was also little girls and boys living and their parents were busy plowing their field. Though they were just strangers, all of them get along and decided to play in the river.

It was getting late when Chino and Heina arrived home and noticed that Kane wasn't around. "Hey people where is your little sister?" Heina asked all of them. Canon replied, "Mama I asked Hara to keep watch on her." Hara angrily said, "No mama, I left Kane to lolo Kino and she was playing with Gema.!" Heina then shouted, "then where was your lolo Kino?!" Brun said, "He was fetching the carabao mama from the river." Heina replied, "What? Seriously? Haven't I told you both Brun and Canon to get that carabao because your lolo was too old for that? Where was your conscience? Arggggggggghhhhhhhhhh." Then Chino shouted, "all of you enough! I will go to your Lolo. Maybe Kane was with him."

Chino on his way to the river, finally met the old man and realized that Kane was not with him said, "Papa where was Kane? the kids told me that she was with you." Kino replied, "Oh awhile ago but she was playing with Gema in the cornfield. Aren't they home? It's already late." Chino said, "Oh papa where were they? Kane was just 6 years old and probably they might get lost in the field." Then hurriedly walk towards the cornfield to look for Kane.

Kane felt the joy playing with her new found friends. She thought she could only play with her siblings and cousin. Then Gema realized that's it's getting late and said, "Kane we should go home it's already evening." Anna and Miro the children's parents, heard the conversation and said, "Oh no you both must stay here it's already late and we should just accompany you going home tomorrow morning." Then the two just nod. "Okay children time to prepare for dinner. Go ahead and wash your hands," Anna utter. After dinner, time to bed and all the kids were busy chitchatting and asking questions to Kane and Gema. Until they all fall asleep.

Chino, Kane's father still looking for her. He didn't find them in the field and so he went home thinking his daughter might be home already. "Heina, is Kane already here?" Chino asked. Heina was teary eyed worrying where was her daughter, "Oh my where was that child now?" Chino tried to comfort her and just told her to sleep and he will just look for Kane. Chino then ride porsey the horsey as the children called their white horse that they loved to ride and play.

It is getting dark and Chino didn't lose hope that he will find her daughter. He go to the deep forest thinking the two might lost and be found there. It's already dawn and finally at the end of the forest he saw a lamp light in a distance. There's no electricity in this village and so people living here just used a traditional lamp. Upon riding towards the light, he realized it was a hut. In a rush to go to the hut thinking that Kane was there, he jumped out of the horse and unfortunately hurt his feet with a sharp stone. He shouted, "Ahhhhhhggggg!". Anna and Miro heard it and hurriedly went outside. They saw the man and said, "What happened? and why you're here mister? Anna utter. Chino while stopping the blood on his feet pressing it with his hands said, "I'm looking for my daughter she was 6 years old. She was probably with her cousin about 8 years old. Their lolo said they were playing in the cornfield but they still not at home." Anna excitingly utter, "You mean Kane, a girl with a golden hair? Well she's here." Chino felt relieved and not even feeling the pain anymore as he was excited to see his daughter.

The two finally meet and upon excitement, Chino tapped Kane's head and said, "next time you should asked me so that I will accompany you both, understood?" The two innocents just nod and then Chino hugged them. Chino said thank you to the couple and then left home.

Kane was already six and so her parents enrolled her in the local school. Her parents tried so hard to spend their children in school despite of the hardships but Kane said, "Mama I don't need school. I can help you here in the field. For sure we can buy you a lot of foods." Her father heard it and said, "Kane we have no treasure that we can give you but only the education that you can carry on in life."

Since the family was not that well off, she strive so hard and do her best in school. Thinking and hoping she could find a great job someday and so does help her family. Kane also helps her parents in the farm. She did this daily after school and she was admired by many. For her dedication and will to help her family from poverty.

After Kane graduated from high school, as an honor student, she got an academic scholarship for college. Striving to sustain her college, she worked so hard and even worked part-time. To sustain her allowances and tuitions without depending from her family. Since she knows they can't afford. For her family can only afford for their basic needs.

Kane finally graduated college, a dean's lister. She took up BSCOMSCI as promised to her father Chino and bring home the Diploma. Kane was the only child in the family who graduated college. Her three elder brothers Brun, Ruka and Canon only finished high school and focused on finding job to sustain the family. They were able to support Kane also with the earnings they have. Kane's eldest sister Hara still finishing her college though late. That's why her parents were so proud of her.

Right after the graduation, Kane then started looking for a job. She made a 100 copies of printed resume and forwarded it in almost job vacancies she knows. She then get the job as a coordinator handling merchandisers assigned at malls. Kane to sustain her family, didn't being selective on job as long as she will get compensation.
