139 Finally arrived

Forty minutes passed quickly and suddenly a force field engulfed Percival before coming in my direction. I jumped slightly but when I realised that Percival was ok, I remembered the protective barrier.

As the barrier phased through my body, I immediately sense the massive increase in magic energy in the surroundings. It was like something was attracting it here. And there were many things that did so indeed.

One being students. They use magic so magical energy will converge in their location. Having a massive concentration of them increases the density of magical energy. Second is the teachers, although there a fewer, they are multiple times stronger than most of the students, so even more magical energy convenes on their location.

Next, would be formations, magical circles and artifacts. Any one of these could attract massive amounts of magical energy. Drak had mentioned at least a couple dozen of them that could be used for special occasions and those of more convenient and widespread use.

And finally, magical beasts and stuff of the sort. since there was a massive forest, it's only natural that the fauna would be magical as well.

I felt my body tingle slightly. It was a subtle feeling, but one that made me feel like I could invoke any spell without difficulty. I had no clue if this was real or simply an illusion. But it would be something easy to figure out once I had some free time.

Percival told me that we had about ten minutes before we arrived which was good. I spent this little time consolidating the information I had been assimilating for the past 40 minutes. I now understood the principles of telekinesis and had a deeper understanding on aparating. I would need to try it when I had the chance. Since I was no longer restricted by barriers and such, I could go anywhere I so desired which was an exciting concept.

The room trembled slightly which Percival explained as the carriage landing. Then the voice of Professor Brambleton sounded again, "all students, be ready to alight from the carriage in a neat and orderly fashion. You know exactly what happens if I see anyone pushing or acting out of line." He warned before he cut the transmission.

"What happens if someone pushes or does some weird shit?" I asked.

"Detention with the Professor. He will make your life a living hell. He will make you do potions until you break down mentally. The man is a tad bit psychotic when it comes to punishments. He is incredibly strict for the rules." He said with a slight shiver.

"What a nuisance. Whatever, let's pack up and get ready to leave the room. I'm excited to see the castle." I said before getting up. I tidied my clothes, cleaned up the dishes and stacked them on the trolly before calling the student service through the wooden panel.

Soon, the same house-elf appeared and took the dishes away before freezing suddenly and looked at me oddly. Her gaze was inquisitive. I could only guess that it was due to the changes from copying her abilities. Maybe she felt traces of familiarity. I could only guess, the elf didn't stay any longer and disapparated out of the room with the trolly.

We soon exited the room and saw a massive number of students crowding the halls. But what shocked me was that it was completely silent. Nobody was pushing, nobody was yelling, fighting or fooling around. It was like being surrounded by a bunch of robots.

"The professor commands a tight ship huh?" I said in a hushed voice.

"As I said, he will break you." He said with another shiver.

"Why do I get the feeling you experienced it?" I asked with a grin. Percival avoided my gaze and rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, "Yeah… about that, I was not exactly a quiet kid last year. But I learnt my lesson real quick. I suggest you do the same if you don't want to suffer unnecessarily." he recommended.

I simply shrugged. I don't have the mentality of a child. I, therefore, have no reason to act like one. But that isn't to say I'll be pushed around. That fucker better keep those glares to himself or else. After all, I have a million different ways to make the midget suffer without getting noticed.

As I thought about which method to use, we arrived at the door where Professor Brambleton was. This time he didn't glare at me since he was too busy scanning the crowd expectantly. As if he was waiting for the slightest disturbance.

'Sadistic prick. Reminds me of Flich' I thought to myself as I clicked my tongue. Without dawdling I hopped out of the carriage and was assaulted with the smell of rain and flowers. It seemed to have been raining just a few moments ago.

There were no windows in the carriage the further you go in for obvious reasons. So, I had no clue what the weather was like outside. We seemed to have arrived in an identical Colosseum from the one we left. I was almost suspicious we made a giant circle and didn't actually go anywhere.

"It's not what you think. This is a different one. It's at the bottom of the castle." Said Percival from behind me. I nodded in understanding and looked around only to see a massive mountain with winding stone steps that looked to be made out of fucking marble.

There were stone pillars running along the edges of the stairs all the way up with a fire on top of them. I wondered why they would have fire in the middle of the day.

Percival who noticed what I was staring at smiled, "They are never-ending flames. Or nether flames. That's what the students call them anyway. They are said to burn the soul of intruders. I think it's a myth but it's better not to find out huh? They run off of magic and can't be extinguished by rain." he said.

"It seems I was right to befriend you, my tour guide," I said mockingly.

"Tch, maybe it was my mistake," he mumbled. Of course, I could hear him, "You were the one who came to me? You don't regret it do you? Please tell me you don't regret it, I would be devastated at your loss. I don't know what I-"

"Enough man!" he pouted angrily.
