445 First match

Like that a week passed and it was finally time for the first ever Blitzball match to be held. The news of the new sport had gotten out and the magical community worldwide was buzzing in interest. Despite this though Nick hadn't received any further warning from the order of the golden sands which showed they probably didn't care about this sort of thing since no one would attach it to them if they were sane. The blitzball field had been moved next to the lake for fast refilling since it was drained at the end of everyday.-

Due to the increasingly colder days as winter showed it's teeth the giant ring that kept the water within warm needed more and more mana to operate if it wasn't drained which simply wasn't worth it. Plus the spectacle created from filling the field with water was entertaining to watch by itself. Anyways Nick had pulled out all the stops to have a wide set of semicircular seats built up around the field so that many people could attend the game. This proved wise as people from all over the globe and many reporters showed up for this first game to test the waters as it were.-

Nick saw all of this from the black lake where he was waiting to make a grand entrance to announce this first match. In a rare show of solidarity the entire school had shown up to watch this match from the professors and students to even Filch and his cat. The staff of the school of course had designated seats in the dead center of the bleachers so that they had the best possible view but everywhere else was first come first serve. The crowd was already bubbling with nervous and excited energy when Nick got the ready signal from the two teams playing.-

Nick grinned at this and waved his wand from his place under the water and immediately four thick geysers of water shot high into the air from the lake. The crowd looked panicked at this until the water that was falling towards them instead got pulled into the center of the ring which drew many gasps of amazement. Nick then floated out of one of the geysers riding on one of his brooms and hovered above the top of the ring as it gathered water.-

"Sonorus!" he spoke and held his wand tip to his throat "Welcome one and all to the first ever Blitzball match! Allow me to introduce myself , I am the creator of this sport Nicholas Ravenclaw!" Nick spoke grandly and the crowd went wild as his voice rang out loudly through the area. Nick held up his free and and the crowd went silent again eager to hear what he had to say. "Before the match can begin in earnest I would like to give special thanks to all the teachers and staff of Hogwarts who made this entire event possible! Please give them a warm round of applause!" Nick said and there was loud clapping from majority of the crowd.-

Dumbledore and the other professors minus Snape smiled and took the applause with poise and grace. "With that out of the way and the field now in place I would like to introduce the two teams who will be participating in this historic match!" Nick said loudly and from the lake geysers six figured fell in formation into the water of the field before gathering and posing. "Lead by Seamus Finnegan , The leviathans!" Nick said hyping the team up as the crowd went crazy. Professor Mcgonagall was kind enough to design a set of uniforms for the team based on the creature they were named off.-

In this case sleek dark blue full body suits that had large hard looking scale patterns from the neck down and fins on the elbows hands and feet. They were posed in a serpentine manner like the beast they were named after. Soon after another six shadows shot out of the water geysers and into the field before grouping up and posing themselves in opposition to the other team. "Lead by Draco Malfoy , The dragons!" Nick said grandly and the crowd was losing it's collective mind from the hype.-

Malfoy designed the outfit of his team and despite the clothes being a mix of gold and azure they actually looked pretty good. Like the outfits for the other teams the outfits were full body suits but this time they had small intricate azure scale patterns from the neck down that had golden stripes placed randomly on each suit. Much like the leviathans the dragons were also in a serpentine formation though there was two members acting as claws that were also coincidentally or not the attackers of the team.
