4 The Flaming Family

(A/N just writing this to tell you that Flaming is pronounced as Fleh-ming not Flay-ming :) )

Sophia and Ophis were sitting in the backseat of a luxurious car.

Ophis was calmly staring out the window. The speed at which the car was going was amazing to Ophis as he enjoyed his first time in a car.

Sophia, on the other hand, was sweating with fear.

'Just why the hell are these two people here?' She couldn't help but think in shock.

In the front seats of the car sat two of the most famous people in the world.

"Theo and Veronica Flaming." she muttered under her breath.

"Oh, you know of us?" Mrs. Flaming asked with a bright smile.

Sophia's heart skipped. 'How'd she even hear me?' She looked at the woman and nodded slightly.

"Look, dear, even the kids know who we are." Mrs. Flaming said with a laugh.

"Ummm, who are you?" Ophis asked curiously.

Mrs. Flaming's laugh went away, and she became gloomy.

Sophia stared at Ophis in shock as she held her hand over his mouth in fear.

"He's just joking." she said with a fake laugh. Mrs. Flaming's mood brightened again.

"No, I'm not." his muffled voice came.

Mrs. Flaming's shoulders slumped down again.

"How exactly do you know who we are, Sophia?" Mr. Flaming asked.

"Oh, me and Ophis, we're wizards and witches as well. I used to live with my mom and dad around one and a half years ago, so I was there when you were elected as the Minister." Sophia quickly spoke.

Ophis's eyes widened. 'This guy is the Minister of Magic?' He thought to himself.

"Oh, that explains it. However, what were the two of you doing in a Muggle orphanage?" Theo Flaming said, not showing any shock on his face.

"Dear! Look, we are so lucky; the two kids we adopted, and both of them have magic." on the other hand, Veronica Flaming was almost crying in happiness.

"Yes, I know Veronica, it is indeed quite the coincidence." Theo said with a sigh.

"My... my parents were killed by Death Eaters." Sophia hesitantly said.

Both the adults in the car stopped talking.

Theo remembered a case that had occurred two years ago.

'So that's why she looked so familiar.' he thought.

"Robert Roper." he said.

Sophia tensed up.

Ophis looked at the man and felt angry at him for mentioning a sore topic for Sophia.

"He was a good man." he told her.

Sophia felt tears build up in her eyes again.

"Thank you." she answered in a low voice.

Ophis grabbed her hand, trying to console her. His eyes were facing Mr Flamaming, whom he was glaring at.

The rest of the ride went extremely quiet. Sophia had managed to not start crying.

The couple in the front seat also remained silent, both not wanting to bring up old wounds for the young girl.

"We're here." Theo called out, stopping the car.

Both Ophis and Sophia got out of the car and looked around them.

"There's nothing here?" They both asked.

"Follow me." Veronica said in a cheerful voice.

Theo and Veronica started to walk towards a certain direction, and the two children followed them.

The four of them stopped as the barren land around them changed.

Ophis and Veronica felt their jaws drop as they looked around. What was once a barren land had now turned into a giant garden with every kind of plant, and that wasn't even the main thing.

A small pathway led them to the house, if it could even be called that. The house, no castle, was giant.

It had what looked like hundreds of windows all leading into different rooms. Both the children looked in awe at the scene.

"I love the reaction of people when they see this." Veronica giggled.

"Anyone would." Theo smiled, seeing the shock in both the children's faces.

"What are we waiting for? Let's head inside." Theo told them and made his way to the massive door.

He took out a wooden wand, and with a wave of his hand, the massive door opened, revealing the interior of the house.

'It feels like this place was made for royals.' Ophis stared in shock as he entered the castle.

"Trippy!" Theo called.

Snap!

A small house elf appeared. Ophis had seen a house elf before when he was young.

'I think his name was Dobby.' he thought about the elf in his previous home. He quickly removed the thoughts from his head, not wanting to think about such a time.

"I would like you to meet Ophis and Sophia. They will be staying with us from now on. I want you to buy them clothes for both wizarding and Muggle events." Theo told the house elf.

"Yes, sire, Tippy will make sure he buys the finest clothes." Tippy answered.

Snap!

He left just as he came without asking for any of their measurements.

"Does he not need our size?" Ophis asked himself in confusion.

"No, he doesn't. When you entered the wards, they were able to get all your measurements, from height to weight." Theo replied proudly.

"Oh!" Ophis exclaimed.

"Let's go to your room now." Theo started to move up a flight of stairs.

They reached a giant hallway with multiple rooms inside them.

"You can go into any of these rooms." Theo told them.

"You should both go rest for today; it's almost 9 p.m." Theo told the children.

In reality, he wanted them to calm down, as by all means, he knew that the situation was extremely shocking for the two.

"If you want to find me or Theo, you can call Tippy." Veronica told them.

"Uhh, alright." Sophia said nervously.

"Now, off you two go."

Veronica and Theo started to make their way to another flight of stairs to their own rooms.

"So uhh, which room do you want?" Sophia asked.

"I'll take any of them." he answered.

"Alright."

Ophis made his way inside one of the rooms, as did Sophia.

"This is huge." Ophis thought while staring at the room.

It had a king-size bed for him, a table with a lamp for studying, and extremely fancy lights. However, the carpet was red, as were the walls.

The chandelier hung right above the bed, and there was a large window on the left side of the room.

On the right side was another.

When Ophis entered the room, he was surprised to see that there was a bathroom right beside his bedroom.

"Hey, I think we should talk." Ophis heard Sophia's voice.

"Yeah, I guess we do." Ophis answered.

Sophia walked into the room and sat on the bed.

"You know, this feels like a dream." she said.

"Mhmm." he hummed.

"Do you think we should tell them about the abilities?" Sophia asked.

Ophis stopped and thought for a minute.

"No, not yet at least. We don't know why they even adopted us in the first place." he said lazily.

"Yeah, but he's the Minister of Magic." she told him.

"Oh yeah, now that I think of it, who exactly are these two?" Ophis asked in confusion.

"I keep forgetting that you don't remember much about the wizarding world." Sophia sighed.

"Alright, let's start with Theo Flaming. He's the current Minister of Magic and the nephew of Nicholas Flamel." Sophia spoke.

"Nicholas Flamel, isn't he hundreds of years old? Theo looks like he's in his thirties if not twenties." Ophis asked.

"That's the thing. When he first came into office, there was a theory that he's apparently two hundred years old. He has also drunk the elixir of life, and some say he made a Philosopher's Stone like his uncle."

"Cool, but where was he for two hundred years?" Ophis asked.

"That's the thing, no one knows who he was until four months before Minister Fudge's resignation. He came in and exposed Fudge's bribery and incompetence and got him sacked. When the re-elections came, everyone knew of his identity. He won the elections by a landslide; almost everyone, including the Sacred Twenty-Eight, voted for the nephew of Flamel. It's said that he's as strong as or stronger than Dumbledore." Sophia answered.

This took Ophis aback. 'Stronger than Dumbledore.' If it was even remotely true, then the man was someone that Ophis could not mess with.

"Mhmmm and Veronica Flamel, she's his wife. She is known as the Thunder Witch because of her thunder abilities; she was able to completely kill off the Avery family line." Sophia shuddered as she thought of the woman.

"But she's so kind?" Ophis asked.

The woman Sophia was talking about was so unnaturally nice to them and seemed sweet.

"Yeah, that's the thing. She's sweet to normal people, however, when she figured out that one of the families in the Sacred Twenty-Eight were Death Eaters, she personally came and killed them." Sophia answered.

"You still think we shouldn't tell them? I mean, they are so strong. They can easily help us get stronger." Sophia told him with excitement.

"No, not yet at least. You should go to sleep for now; I'm pretty tired myself." Ophis sighed.

This family that they had been adopted by just couldn't have been a normal one, could it?

<Ophis >

I woke up in an unfamiliar room. However, I remembered where I was upon seeing the chandelier above me.

"This thing is gonna kill me if it falls." I muttered to myself.

I got up and stretched my body a bit. It had become a habit over the years. What hadn't become a habit was seeing Sophia on my right every day.

"This still feels so weird." I thought.

I went to the bathroom and did my business.

I opened my room's door and walked outside.

"Where should I be going?" I looked around and made my way to Sophia's room.

Knock! Knock!

Knocking on the door, I noticed faint footsteps making their way towards me.

"What's up?" The door opened to reveal the tired Sophia.

"You should get ready; it's almost nine." I told her.

"Let me sleep in peace." she huffed.

"Stop being so lazy; then maybe I will." I answered.

Honestly, when will she learn? If she stays so lazy, she'll never become strong.

"Fine, wait a minute." she sighed.

I waited for a couple of minutes inside my room, doing a couple of push-ups.

"You and your stupid workouts." I heard a grumble from the door.

"At least I'm not a stick." I replied annoyed.

"Yeah, at least people think I'm pretty." she answered back.

"Yeah, right?" I countered.

"Why'd you even wake me up?" she asked annoyed.

"We shouldn't be lazy sloths on the first day of being adopted." I told her.

"Fine. That is a good reason." she admitted begrudgingly.

Knock! Knock!

Both of us turned to the door and saw a familiar face of a man with black hair and a beard.

"Well, it's good to see that both of you are awake early." he said through the open door.

"Good Morning." Sophia and I said in unison.

"Good morning to you two as well." he answered.

"You two must be hungry; follow me, let's eat some breakfast." the man told us.

"Breakfast would be good." I muttered, feeling my empty stomach.

Both of us made our way to the dining room, and I made sure to remember the route.

"Man, this place is too big. It's going to take some time for me to be able to remember all the places." I thought.

"Ohh! You two are up." a woman came and hugged us.

"Veronica, calm down." Theo told her.

"Right, right, so how do you kids like this place?" she asked in anticipation.

"It's nice, really nice and big," Sophia answered. Veronica squealed at the answer.

"Alright, so what do you two want for breakfast?" she asked.

This was weird, getting to choose your own breakfast. Huh, I haven't eaten the things I wanted in some time.

"I'll have eggs and sausages." I answered lowly.

"And you, dear?" Veronica asked, looking at Sophia.

"I'll have eggs and sausages as well." she answered with a smile.

"Alright then, you two sit while I make them." Veronica told us and quickly made her way outside the dining room.

'Must be going to the kitchen.' I thought. I looked around and saw that the room only had a table and a couple of decorations.

'What a lavish family they are.' I thought.
