"They said that the parents' mistakes get paid off by the children. And since your father did all this to me, you have to pay for it, little Max. KROO-see-oh!!!!" Carl said before firing a spell at Max, which he did not know anything about, but he knew a lot about it in the next second. This curse did not physically harm Max, but it attacked his mind directly. The pain was like having hot knives getting driven into his mind.

Even if Max was the best serial killer and experienced much more pain than this, getting exposed to this kind of torture out of nowhere without preparing himself made him grunt for the first time in ages because of pain. 'You fucking bastard!!! That hurts. You did not warn me before doing that. Well, I have to give it to you. It is the first time I have felt pain like that in years, and it is a refreshing feeling. I thought I would never get the chance to feel it again, but thanks to you, I did. That is quite exciting. Imagine this curse in my hand instead of that idiot.'

And that was it for Max. After the initial feeling that took him by surprise, he ignored the pain. It did not mean that he did not feel it or something, but he experienced it and every bit of this. Not only was it powerful, but this spell got powered by the hatred of the caster, and since Carl's hatred and anger got intensified, this curse's power was on another level than a normal Cruciatus Curse. But Max had seen worse in his past life. After the torture the gang exposed him to, he swore not to make the pain his weakness again. He would experience all kinds of torment for more than ten years until he formed a mental defense enough for him to ignore all kinds of pain and escape to his mental palace, where he would think of things that could bring him joy. That did not only help him against the pain but made his memory strong enough to remember every little detail around him. That was why he wanted to try the spells and curses that he had seen the people perform until this moment.

"Why aren't you crying?" Carl asked with surprise over his face because he was sure that his anger and hatred were enough to make this curse powerful enough to hurt the adult magicians and Aurors in the ministry. He would never believe that a child managed to bear with it. "Did you faint or something? But that can't be since the pain would wake you up, and there would be a feeling of pain on your face. Then what? Did you go insane this fast??"

Carl continued to examine Max's face to see the reason behind his silence. He did not get too bent up his frustration and anger, yet, and he would never allow this toy to malfunction this fast before he got to enjoy himself. "Let's do it more than one time and see what could happen. Please, don't go insane this early. We have a lot to do, and our lives are long enough to experience many things. I even thought of coming again in the future to play with you whenever your father did something to me. Come on. Don't fail me, little Max."

Max looked with his tiny eyes at Carl and thought that he was looking at an idiot. 'Stupid!!! No wonder you failed to take anything from that father of mine. It is your lucky day that you did not use any curse that caused any physical harm. I am a neat freak, and I hate to see such wounds on my body. One of the things that made me happy about coming back was that there are no scars on my body in this world. You can ask the gang about what happened to every one of them when you see them in the future. I saved you a spot for you right next to them. Well, let's give him something, or he might change to another curse that caused a permanent wound on by body.'

"Arghhhh..." Max tried to give Carl something by imitating the cry of pain that his victims in his previous life made before their death, but it came out awkward since he did not feel it at all. But to the insane Carl, it made up his day, and he continued to fire a curse after curse at Max. Luckily for Max, all the curses this Carl used were to harm his mind and did not cause any physical harm.

After half an hour or something like that, Carl finally got tired, and his anger cooled down a bit. He looked at Max that was imitating a painful cry, then turned around to examine the orphanage. Before long, another sly smile appeared on his face, and he looked to Max before opening his mouth. "I played enough with you today, little Max. I could not enjoy everything that I wanted to try, though. I could not use any curse that could injure you or leave a special wound on your body, or news about this might reach the ministry, and I would be in trouble if the dark lord heard that I acted without his knowledge. But we have time, all the time in our lives at that, and I will come again to visit you when you are a little older and could take it. I will enjoy your screams at that time and make you wish that you were never born in this world. I also don't like to see you enjoy your sweat time in this orphanage. And I can see that this woman is quite thoughtful and caring, and this is something that I will never let you have in this life since you are my brother's son. I will find another one for you, an orphanage where you could experience real life and where you got injured there, no one would care. I am sure you will grow up well there. And when I come to visit you next time, I am sure we both are going to enjoy it."

As Carl said those words, he gave off a creepy laugh that frightened every sleeping baby and child in this orphanage before turning his head away towards the two sisters while licking his lips. Since he did not hurt anyone besides Max, Carl was sure that the news would not reach the ministry or his lord.

And since Max was a newborn boy, Max would not remember any of this by the time he could speak, and this accident would get forgotten as time passed. By the next time he came to play with his nephew, Carl was sure that his lord would get done with whatever he was doing right now, and he would not mind Carl playing a little game with a half-blood. That was why Carl did not use the Obliviate curse against Max and erase his memories. He even wished that he could imprint them instead. But even if he did, he would never succeed because of two reasons. Max's mental defense was enough to stop Carl's weak spell from working against him. The second reason was something that even Max was not aware of until this moment, and he might never get to know the truth. And it was what helped him a lot in defending against the unforgivable with ease.

Even if Max built up a mental defense against pain in his previous life, he had never experienced something similar to the Cruciatus curse there, and what he did was only a child's play in front of the mental defense of the wizard's community. The reason behind his strong mind defenses was his mother's death. At her death, Nadia performed a spell that accelerated her death while giving birth in order to complete that spell. It was a new spell she came up with when she was in love with Corvus. Nadia even intended to use this spell on Corvus to protect him if the two got cornered by someone who tried to kill them. But this spell was powerful enough that it ended up taking the life of the caster in order to protect another. But since she had a little hatred against Corvus while casting it on Max, the spell did not come out as she wanted but got fucked up and turned from a white spell into a dark curse instead.

The altered curse needed a maniac that could provide it with insanity and negative emotions for the curse to work, someone who liked to see death and torture everywhere. And fortunately for Nadia, her son was a maniac and a serial killer that could power this spell and make it work to its full power.

As for Carl, he went to the two sisters to wake them up. He acted as if nothing happened, and he did not do anything at all. He liked to play games like this, and he would like to see it to the end.

"Oh, sister Luna, sister Ruby, what happened to you?" Carl asked as he looked at the two women with a concerned expression on his face. Everyone would have believed this man's act if they did not see everything with their own eyes. "You were alright, and you fell on the ground in the next second. How are you doing?"
