3 Testing System

Sitting at his desk in the noisy classroom, Pro glanced at the rowdy children and the helpless teacher that was wasting class time. Pro didn't expect much from a primary school in the first place. Perhaps to others, what is happening now is a learning experience, but to Pro who had already went through university in his past life, primary school was truly just a waste of time.

After quickly filling out the basic math answers on the sheet passed out by the teacher to gauge the student's capabilities on the first day of school, Pro used the rest of his time for a better purpose. He began to test his system secretly. As long as he avoided the notice of the teacher, it will be fine as children won't understand what he is doing even if they accidentally notice. Of course, it's best that they don't so Pro was still being sneaky.

Actual combat can't really be tested in a classroom setting. Pro decided that he will find some new 'friends' to test it later. Why 'new' friends? Because the previous owner of this body didn't have any.

Although he had a handsome face that would attract girls, but the children were too young to know what puppy love is. Also, due to his frail body, the previous owner rarely hung out with anyone. It was surprising that he didn't end up being bullied, but it may have something to do with his parents.

Thinking about his parents, Pro couldn't help but feel that there was something strange about them. Based on his memories, his parents had always lived a normal British life ever since he could remember. For more than 7 years, they've been living inside that house and there was nothing special. However, Pro's memories told him that his parents would always say some inexplicable stuff from time to time.

Not only that, Pro recalled the system notifications he saw earlier.

"The system activated because I had contact with magical energy. It seemed that there is magical energy in this world? Magical energy plus 1980s Britain ... could this be the world of Harry Potter? Could the system name of HogScape be a combination between Hogwarts and R*nescape?"

However, there was no way for Pro to test his theory because his life is in the normal or Muggle world by wizard standards. According to his knowledge regarding the Harry Potter world, there was no way for a Muggle to make contact with the magical world, and even if they do, their memories would be erased.

"Perhaps I should find some chance to find out from my parents ... after all, it seems that they may not be as 'normal' as I expected. In the meantime, I should do my best to level up with the system to prepare for the future."

After making a brief plan for his future, Pro began to test his other system functions.

First, he tested the most anticipated function, the inventory. Pulling out a pencil from his backpack, Pro hid his hands in his desk and attempted to store the pencil in his inventory.

With a thought, Pro watched in amazement as the pencil disappeared from his hands as the pickup sound effect echoed in his mind. Glancing at his system inventory interface, Pro noticed the pencil appearing in one of the slots of the inventory.

Taking the pencil out was a bit more of a hassle because he had to select the item in his inventory and choose the drop option. Accompanied by the drop sound effect, the pencil appeared in his hand once more.

Pro softly chuckled in excitement as he continued to test out the storage function with multiple objects. He also went to adjust the sound effects to an acceptable level and also learned that he was able to use the system interface with his thoughts.

"Now I know I don't have to awkwardly tap the air in order to use the interface. As long as I think about clicking or selecting a certain button, the effect will be achieved. There was also an option in the system settings that allowed me to turn on the item drop shortcut, but instead of shift and click, it allows me to take out an item with a thought as long as I have selected it. Still, only one item can be selected at a time to be taken out."

While Pro was lost in thought, the teacher happened to walk by his desk. She couldn't help but notice that this quiet student hadn't been scribbling on his paper like the other children, and she was quite surprised to see that there was already answers written on the paper.

Picking up the sheet of paper, the teacher couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, "Student Pro, are you the one that answered all of these questions?"

Glancing up at the teacher, Pro couldn't help but roll his eyes. Aren't you asking the obvious? Pro couldn't help but cheekily reply, "No Ms. Jones, I did not answer it. The answers magically appeared on the paper on its own."

Ms. Jones silently gawked for a while as her brain had trouble processing what Pro said. It took a while before she realized she was being teased so she huffed in anger for a bit, but quickly calmed down as there was no point in getting angry with a child, a smart one at that.

"Very good job Student Pro!" Ms. Jones stated before she clapped her hands to get the class of children's attention, "Look here everyone. Student Pro has already finished his math paper and got all the answers correct. Everyone clap for him!"

As Ms. Jones clapped, some children innocently clapped along not knowing what they are clapping for while others continued being naughty. Pro knew that the teacher intended to give him praise to encourage him to work harder, but he was a bit mature to fall for that.

Turning back to Pro, Ms. Jones then kindly stated, "Student Pro, since you are done, then you can take a break for a bit. You can also go help others with their math paper and maybe you will be able to make some friends!"

Of course, Pro didn't want to make any friends, at least not before he confirmed what world he was in. If it really turned out to be the Harry Potter world, there is a high chance that he will separate from all the friends he make in the Muggle world, and there won't be much point in doing so. Still, he won't refuse 'friends' if they came to him, but he won't actively go make them.

After the teacher walked away, Pro returned to his system testing. This time, Pro made an attempt to gain some exp. In the midst of the loud ruckus of the room, no one noticed Pro giving his desk a hard punch. Of course, the desk did not get damaged at all. Instead, it was Pro's hand that hurt a bit, but the pain faded away not long after.

Glancing at the blue hitsplat with the number zero that appeared in his vision, Pro knew he failed to do any damage as expected. However, this let him know that he might be able to gain exp if he could damage the objects. This is different from the game where you can't attack most objects. After testing a couple more times on different objects, Pro managed to come up with a conclusion.

"Even if I can damage an object, I will not get exp if the damage hitsplat does not pop up. In order for the damage hitsplat to pop up, I must perform the correct attack action, which happens to be a punch in my case."

"Hence, when I snapped a pencil in half, I didn't get any exp for damaging an object. It would probably be easier to deal damage to other living organisms rather than a solid object. Perhaps, I will need a training dummy to practice with, but my parents might not be happy with that."

Recalling his protective parents when it comes to his physical activities, Pro couldn't help but have a wry smile. Based on his memories, his parents even opt him out of physical education because they worried that he might pass out during physical activities, which has actually happened before.

"My body should be much stronger now after binding with the system. I really need to find a way to convince my parents to let me participate in physical activities. Otherwise, there won't be any way to train my skills, let alone possibly unlocking new skills like ranged."

However, Pro knew that all of this would take time. He believes that he will be able to gradually convince them within a year and also ease in his personality changes. As for confirming the magical side of this world, he will have to take it slowly.

Although he could test their attitude by faking an 'out of control' magic through making items disappear using his inventory, Pro decided to play safe and wait until he has eased in his other changes before showing his 'magic'. This is to prep for the case where he was wrong and his parents were truly just normal people. After getting along for a year, he believe he should be able to prep them so that they won't disown him just because he was a 'freak'.

Time wasted away in the classroom. Lunch time came and went. Pro did not make any new friends. A boring first day of school ended just like that.

Hopping into his child car seat, Pro's father buckled him in and drove him home while asking him about his day. Pro cheerfully responded while hiding the fact that he made no new friends. Well, based on his father attitude, he probably already expected the same, but it seems that his father did not worry too much. His father even comforted him that he may be able to make good friends after he turned 11, whatever that means.

Returning to his room, Pro began to complete his test of his system inventory. After multiple tests with larger objects, Pro made his final conclusion.

The inventory can easily store small objects, but most of these items take up their own slots. The only stackable small objects were those that were similar in size, shape, and color in addition to not being an equipable item. Hence, it was possible to stack two new, unused pencils of the same color, but they become unstackable after sharpening them to a certain point.

Clothes can also be stored in the inventory regardless of size. Clothes can stack if they are similar in design, size, in addition to equipment location. On the other hand, larger objects such as furniture can't be stored.

The British pound are also a stackable item, and it seems that it will probably stack up to 2,147,483,647 like R*nescape stackable items does, but each different denomination of coins and banknotes make up their own stacks.

As for where Pro got the money to test this, it was from his private savings stashed in his room. This private savings came from the weekly allowance given to him by his parents; however, since his parents would always buy him what he wants and he never needed to spend any, the previous owner of the body was able to save up a substantial amount.

Now, Pro had a new place to stash his private savings, his inventory. Not having any 20 or 50 pounds banknotes, Pro chose to keep all his banknotes of 5 and 10 pounds in his inventory. Additionally, he also kept the coin denominations of 1 pound, 2 pounds, and 50 pence in his inventory. With more than 3 years of allowance, Pro had a total of around 1000 British pounds to stash into his inventory

Pro also stashed a set of clothes in his inventory for emergencies where he needed to change his clothes. He also sneakily stashed a kitchen knife for self defense when his mother wasn't paying attention.

A total of 8 out of 28 inventory slots were occupied, but Pro believed it will be worth it to be prepared and he knew he could probably survive or make it back even if he gets lost during vacation or kidnapped, which does have a chance of happening due to the fact that his family could be considered to be a rich family.

Afterwards, Pro began to enjoy his calm, mundane new life while testing the intricacies of his system from time to time. Time flowed like water and a year passed ... Pro finally decided to confront his parents to get clues of the magical side of this world, if there is any.
