webnovel

The start of a new life.... Again.

Darkness... Peace.

That is what Alaric yearns for, the ultimate end, the final moment as peace envelops you.

While most people are afraid of the thought of death and want nothing more than to keep living, Alaric is the opposite.

Through his many, many lifetimes, he has seen the joys that life has, but most of all, he has seen and felt the great despair that comes with life.

Every time he finally dies, he hopes that it will be the last, only to be rudely awakened in the body of yet another lifetime.

In his last life, Alaric thought that it was truly the end, the darkness enveloped his being and for once, it stayed, for a short time that is.

Alaric's peaceful afterlife was shorty interrupted when he opened his eyes.

That familiar feeling of that blinding light, that sensation of breathing in the air and feeling as it fills his body with life and vitality.

For anyone else who had died, this would be a true blessing, the gift of a new life.

For most people maybe, but in the case of Alaric, he was filled to the brim with despair and rage.

...

Back before the endless cycle of reincarnation began, Alaric used to be a normal person, who worked a normal job and lived a normal life.

He enjoyed the simple things in life, movies, tv shows, video games, books, and yes, even fanfiction.

Alaric was an avid reader of all things web novel related, and when he found himself with little to no new novels left, he plunged himself into the deep dark pit that is fanfiction.

And to be completely honest, he loved it!

He loved seeing the spin on the beloved stories he grew up with.

He loved seeing the new characters and OCs that were introduced into different stories.

But most of all, he loved the escape that these fanfictions and novels gave him.

The escape from school, from responsibility, from... life.

He basked in the glory of different worlds and stories.

He yearned for more, and in a cruel twist of fate, he got more, more than he would ever want.

Alaric had died from cancer, it came out of the left field, when he got the diagnosis he was shocked, to say the least.

Stage four lung cancer. An almost guaranteed death sentence.

Knowing that his life was coming to an end, Aalric decided to make the most of it, he read and read as much as he could, it's not like he had any family, he was an orphan, both of his parents died before he turned one, a sad trend that would continue through many lives.

As the days went by, Alaric become more and more secluded, only going out for food or the necessities.

He followed this way of life until his last day.

When Alaric closed his eyes to sleep, somewhere deep inside of him, he knew. This was the end.

And so, at the young age of 20, Alaric passed away peacefully in his sleep.

...

In any other story, this would be the end, but no.

This is a story of reincarnation.

As Alaric fell into the arms of death, he just as quickly was dropped and stomped on by the universe.

With no warning at all, he awoke in a new body.

The smells of water, smoke, body odor, and... blood shook him awake.

At first, he couldn't believe it, he was reborn in a new body!

what was he some web novel protagonist?

Like any good reincarnator, he quickly took stock of the situation.

However, what he saw that day filled him with terror and dread.

He was in the body of what seemed to be an early homosapien child, he wore primitive animal fur clothes and had on basic animal skin shoes.

All around him, however, chaos reigned, he seemed to have been reincarnated into the body of a primitive child, whose tribe was under attack by a rival tribe.

Lying next to him was two bodies, one of a man who seemed to be in his mid-twenties, and a woman who was close in age.

Almost instinctually he realized, these were his parents, how cruel fate was, even in a new life, his parents were taken from him before he could even know them.

As he was frozen in shock over the situation, an elderly man came and grabbed him, and escaped with him.

And the rest is history.

After that moment Alaric would go on to live under many different names as the ages progressed.

Looking back, he had to have been reincarnated back in 100,000 BCE.

...

As the years went by, the centuries, the millennia, one after another, Alaric would wake up in the body of a new person, it wasn't until he had been at it for more than 50,000 years that he realized he has been reincarnating into the same bloodline.

The reason he knew this was because of the stories the tribe passed down, some of them starred Alaric in one of his past incarnations.

It wasn't until somewhere around 4,000 BCE that Alaric discovered that there was magic in this world, that's right, magic!

To say he was ecstatic was an understatement.

He was fucking thrilled!

as he was reborn and reborn, Alaric started mastering magic in its primal form.

He would eventually get to the point where he was the leader of a germanic tribe around the time of Ceaser.

that's where he founded the Clan of Reinhardt which would later become The House of Reinhardt.

In this life, he changed his name to Alaric, he felt sentimental about his first name and this was the first chance he got to finally take it back.

During his time as Alaric the Tribal chief, he became extremely adept at magic.

Alaric was so powerful in fact, that he slew a dragon with his magic alone.

not one of those wyverns that others call dragon, no, he slew a bonified four-legged giant behemoth of a dragon.

And it was with the heart of said dragon that he conducted a ritual that he based on the one Merlin and King Arthur went through.

Using his magic, the heart of the dragon, and the dragon's magic core, he succeeded in bonding certain aspects of a dragon to himself and his bloodline.

In doing so, the infamous features of the Reinhardts were born, the ashen white hair paired alongside the beautiful bright golden eyes, that sometimes could even take on the look of a dragon

...

It wasn't until the next reincarnation that he realized his act of becoming the pinnacle of wizards back then would create a new custom in his bloodline.

No one was allowed to name their son Alaric, except for the main line, as well as the requirement that the child needed to hold a monstrous amount of magic.

And it just so happens that the only way to fulfill that last requirement, was for Alaric himself to be reborn, hence in his next life, he was Alaric II.

...

Through this life and the next, Alaric brought his family to new heights of power.

Despite this, Alaric only reincarnated once more after almost a millennia since his last life.

It would seem as he became stronger in his past lives, the years in between reincarnations widened.

Towards the end of his life as Alaric III, he migrated alongside his family to the British Isles to work as a court wizard during the War of the Roses.

Once his life came to an end yet again, he finally realized what world he was in.

He had caught wind of a magic school named... Hogwarts.

The reason why he just barely learned of Hogwarts was due to the tradition of keeping all magical education within the family.

When Alaric learned he was in the world of Harry Potter, he was a little excited, but at this point in his time as a constantly reincarnated individual, he had grown tired.

Not being able to finally die and find peace had taken a toll on his psyche.

during his life as Alaric II, he had become depressed over the thought of constantly following the cycle until the end of time.

So he could only hope that his next life was at least close to the events of the story so he could take his mind off things, little did he know he would do more than just distract himself from his constant reincarnation.

He wouldn't just alter some things, he would full-on flip the script of everything.

And so, that leaves us back where we left off.

...

Alaric had awakened to find himself yet again breathing in this damnned air and seeing this damned light.

"When will it stop?" he muttered

At this point he wasn't even fazed that the voice that came out was that of a small child, it would seem fate just loved having him "fully wake up" at the age of six.

"Sigh, maybe, just maybe this life will be different, maybe my parents are still alive?"

Alaric couldn't help but hope, but once he learned what happened to not only his parents but many of his family members, he would be royally pissed, no. enraged.

...

As Alaric got out of his bed, which going off of how neat and high quality it is, he could tell he was in the 20-21st century, he walked towards a bookshelf that was in his giant room.

He mindlessly searched through the books for any kind of book to help him take stock of when and where he is.

it wasn't until he came across a book that was labeled "family tree" that he realized just how screwed up this life would be, even more than his life prior.'

the book was titled, "The House of Reinhardt: a history and family tree".

One of the first things Alaric found was his current family members, his grandfather, and sister who is three years older than him.

As he perused the book, he found that most of the truly detailed history spanned back to his time as Alaric I, once he reached the recent events and family tree pages, his mood became darker and darker as he read through it.

It would seem within the last century, there have been many members of his bloodline who have perished during different wizarding conflicts.

His grandfather in this life was a major supporter of Dumbledore during the Global Wizarding War.

at first, The House of Reinhardt was a neutral party, but it wasn't until Alaric's great-grandfather and his two grand-uncles were killed in a skirmish against Grindelwald's supporters, that his grandfather Theodoric XII had entered into the war with full force while supporting and even fighting on the front lines himself against Grindelwald.

Even during the first wizarding war against Voldemort, two of Alaric's uncles, Throdoric XIII, and his twin brother Ulrich II, died while fighting against a group of death eaters.

But it didn't stop there, in a cruel twist of fate, many of his family members, his parents included perished during an attack by Voldemort himself along with his death eaters during Alaric's first birthday party, in retribution for the support they gave Dumbledore against Voldemort after his uncle's deaths.

The list of casualties goes as follows:

- Louis Sr and his second son Marcel Duval, who both died protecting Alaric's aunt Alyson who was pregnant at the time, and her husband Louis Jr. Louis Jr and Alyson both survived the attack only for Alyson to later die from equal parts disease and a broken heart in 1984 leaving behind her two-year-old son and her husband

- Tessa a muggle-born witch and his uncle Osrics wife, who at the time was pregnant with their child, died in the crossfire along with their unborn child. in a fit of rage, Osric took out several death eaters himself

- Isabella Greengrass, Alaric's grandmother along with her father Cyrus II, and her brother Damian Greengrass, was all killed by death eaters while protecting Damian's son, Cyrus III his wife Diana, and their infant daughter daphne greengrass

- and last but most certainly not least, Alaric's Father Siegfried VII, and his mother Emma both died while fighting to protect him and his older sister

As the information Alaric had just read digested, he felt himself slipping further and further into anger, not only was most of his family dead, but they were killed at his birthday party.

Voldemort.

That noseless snake bastard.

*RUMBLE*

*CRACK*

*CRACKLE*

All around Alaric a storm of magic was swirling, cracks and rumbles sounded all around him to signify the use of lightning magic.

One thing that makes the Reinhardt family stand out more than their physical features, is their almost inherent affinity and mastery of elemental magic, each member of the Reinhardt bloodline has an affinity for one or more elements.

And it would seem our newly reincarnated protagonist has a terrifying affinity for lightning magic

As the storm of magic grew larger and larger, Alaric in his last slightly conscious act, apparated out to the lawn so as to not destroy the manor.

The Lightning storm around Alaric seemed to have finally calmed down, that is until a massive blue lighting bolt struck right on top of him, then another, then another.

After 10 minutes of continuous strikes of azure blue lighting, the storm clouds around the area finally lifted, and in the middle of a crater lies Alaric, completely unharmed.

the last thing he heard before losing consciousness was two voices yelling out to him.

"Alaric!"

"Little Brother!"
