103 Start Preparing

*Morpheus pov*

With a map outlining the general area of my enemies, I was in a better position in this hidden war than ever before. Placing the map somewhere safe I headed back into the castle.

This time I didn't need to hope I avoided crossing paths with anyone as I entered the castle as everyone knew I was performing a divination.

Of which I will most likely meet with Albus about soon, I will be able to supply him with some knowledge about Tom without drawing suspicion. The time wasn't right for Albus to know of our true enemy yet, soon though he will know.

Making my way to my room I laid down and closed my eyes, content with resting for the remainder of the celestial cascade.

Opening my eyes I was greeted by the brilliance of the sun, sighing in distaste for the early hours of the day I made my way down to the great hall for some breakfast.

Although I was borrowing the Celestial Cascades' magical energy the strain I felt was still exhausting. Breaking through the divination blockers they put up was a lot harder than I thought.

Entering the great hall I scanned the room, spotting Remus Lupin with a confused but happy expression on his face I concluded he experienced the wonderful effects the phenomenon had on a werewolf.

He most likely headed to a secluded portion of the forbidden forest expecting the worst but, realized that he could somehow control the shift under the effects.

This is one of the rare times I wish I was a werewolf or a vampire.

Sitting at my seat a plate of bacon, eggs, and hash browns appeared in front of me alongside a goblet.

Taking a sip of whatever the elves brought me I nearly choked as the whisky touched the back of my throat. The whisky seemed to relax my muscles and cure my exhaustion.

*cough*, "Albus remind me to thank the elves," I said with a happy smile

He chuckled, "Glad you are enjoying your breakfast how was your adventure last night," at his words, I could see some of the other professors lean in intent on hearing my answer

Taking a bite of my eggs I mulled over my reply, "It went splendidly, the effects of the celestial cascade were remarkable if this damn country didn't ban all of the fun stuff I would have done more. But, what I did glean was useful information," I said a mysterious expression playing on my face

Albus sighed, "Dangerous does not equate fun, my friend. Anything in particular you would like to share?" he asked

Chuckling I leaned back in my seat, "And ruin the fun for the rest of you? I think not," their disappointed expressions just served to brighten my day even more

"I am glad you are all in a good mood because I might just ruin it," I joked to my third-year students

Instantly I saw nervousness set into several students' faces.

Laughing I added, "Not to worry it was just a joke, since you have already gotten your daily practice in the lesson portion of the class will commence. Well, that would be what usually happens, today I will be introducing the requirements for you to be able to pass my mid-term. I bring up this subject thus early into the year because it is something you should be preparing for," shrugging I said, "The divination midterm is not as simple as the other classes,"

Continuing I placed one of each specialty, a rod, a book, and a set of Tarot cards.

"I am not going to delude myself into thinking you don't know what the midterm was last year as the older students most likely shared with you. All of my students last year passed that so I wouldn't be worried," I said lightening the room

I went on to explain what each specialty will have to do which was basically the same spiel as last year. Divining rod students would have to find something, literacy students would need to answer a question, and tarot card students would need to make their own cards.

"Now, something I will be doing differently this year is testing your magical control, this is for me to gauge where you are at for the next half of the school year. Keep in mind it will not take up much of your grade but it is important to try your best. Additionally and this is at random I will ask some students to perform an additional divination practice I taught, so do not think only practicing your resonated technique will allow you to skate through" I said which dampened the mood significantly

"How will you choose which students to ask?" Lily Evans asked

"Randomly, so be prepared as if it is a necessity,"

For the rest of the class, I answered any questions and then left the floor open for free practice. Allowing the students to call me over if they need any personal help, as I observed the class I noticed Remus was trying to help Stiles with the divining rod.

Walking over to the two friends, "Do you need any help?" I asked Stiles

He looked up at me embarrassed, "Ah, no sir I think I just need some practice," he said awkwardly

Looking over at Remus I asked, "Are you feeling confident with your own subject?" the kid was surprisingly smart

"Yes sir, I have been practicing every night," he replied

"You seem to like teaching," I laughed

Not everyone likes to teach others.

Remus chuckled, "I just like to help," he replied a small smile appearing on his face

"Good, then I hate to break up your partnership but since you and Stiles have different resonated techniques I think someone else should guide him. While I want you to help someone else," ignoring their crestfallen expressions I looked over at Lily, "Lily, partner up with Remus he is proficient at your technique and can help you make up lost time,"

Not bothering to hear either of their responses I looked over to Mary Macdonald, "Mary come help Stiles he seems to be struggling," realizing now I split up both sets of friends I laughed, "Might as well just study as a group then but don't slack off," I suggested before walking off and helping other students

By all means, if I see students struggling in small areas I suggest a different student to help, this creates an opportunity for both students to learn.

The teacher gets to put into words what they are feeling and what they do helping them further understand the material while the student gets to learn what they are missing.

After a while, the bell rang singling class ended and the students began to file out. As the students left I realized the group of four Gryffindors seemed to be still talking as a cohort as they left.

It seems I might have just made a permanent study group.

Seeing my schedule I was free for a little while I decided to go visit the kitchens and have a little drink with the elves.
