"Maybe he feels shame because the Gaunt family chose a muggle to get married and tainted his blood," replied the pureblood wizard.

"House of Gaunt, I have never heard about that house before" added another young wizard.

"There is a reason why you never heard that name" said a grown-up wizard. "According to records, the only descendant of Gaunt has died in Azkaban."

GRYFFINDOR - MARAUDER POV

"If he is half blood, why did he want to attack a muggle-born wizard?" James remarked.

"Relax, James, I believe he feels disgusted with his father's blood," replied Remus.

"The House of Gaunt is from the 28 sacred pureblood families, in the past, they were the most prestigious pureblood, but because of their actions, they have been excluded," said Sirius Black.

"Excluded," asked a muggleborn wizard. "Why?"

"Purebloods always marry each other to keep the blood pure, but there is a wizard who takes extreme measures by intermarrying. The Gaunt family chose to marry each other so they didn't spread their parseltongue ability," replied Sirius with a serious tone.

"What? Do you know how dangerous that practice is?" Lily argued with Sirius.

"Dangerous?" said several wizards with a confused expression.

"In the past, King chose to intermarry, cousin with cousin, and siblings with siblings. After a few generations, they got genetic diseases, and the last descendant cannot bear any children anymore," replied Lily.

"But we are okay," said another gryffindor pureblood.

"Didn't some of your wizard family produce squibs, even though both parents are excellent wizards? I believe this is because of the side effect of marrying close relatives. A wizard has different anatomy than a muggle, so I believe the first side effect is a squib."
