Legacy

3000 years ago, an era greater than any other existed. An age of monsters and men, full of wonder and magic. In this age, 4 great empires existed. The first Aztecs resided in what we now know as El Dorado. The Egyptians held power in their great pyramid cities. The Atlantians kept safe in their sea cities, Atlantis being their pride. And the greatest of all, Avalon created a world of their own.

This age ended, as all things do, Atlantis sunk into the sea, El Dorado was lost, and the Egyptians hid many of their pyramids. But Avalon held on. Kept in a subtexture of the earth, Avalon was maintained by its own magic, waiting until one it deemed worthy to resurrect it appeared. Avalon cast a sword into rock to be claimed by the one of true heart.

2000 years later, a trio was born. Their names were Morgan Le Fey, Merlin Ambrosius, and Arthur Pendragon. Merlin went to Hogwarts, learning magic from the four founders themselves. Arthur joined the military, leading the men of the Pendragon house, wielding Rhongomyniad, his father's spear. Morgan Le Fey, who called herself Morgana, worked her way across France, learning forbidden magics and alchemy.

After his education, Merlin was proclaimed the most powerful wizard of the new generation, and was let loose on the world. Arthur quickly rose the ranks, becoming a beloved commander against the saxons. Morgana uncovered a prophecy that one would rediscover the lost empire of Avalon.

Merlin first took interest in Arthur when he discovered witches and wizards among his ranks, using their magic without fear of the lesser beings. At first he was enraged, how could they lower themselves so, but then Merlin saw the truth. On the battlefields status did not matter, what ran through your blood became irrelevant. He watched men, and a few women, trying their damndest to survive and fight. After the 4th battle he witnessed, where Arthur had been ambushed, he joined the fight. The battle was known as the day God fought with men. Merlin had killed thousands with his magic, saving Arthur's entire host. Little is known about that time, but Arthur and Merlin became inseparable for the rest of Arthur's life.

Morgana enters the picture 20 years later. She had learned rumors of the conquest of Arthur Pendragon and Merlin the Mage. She figured that Arthur was the prophesied one. A decade before, she had found the lake and the sword in the stone. The sword was guarded by the Fae Nimnue, lady of the lake. Morgana led Arthur and Merlin to the lake, trapping them with a runic barrier even the great Merlin could not break. Nimnue came to them, telling Arthur of his task.

Nimnue had been so filled with glee when Arthur dislodged the sword she gave her own blessing upon the blade. Calibur, the sword in the stone, had become Excalibur, the gift of the lady. Merlin had found his own treasure, a witch that could contain him was something he thought impossible, and history tells us he was starstruck, much to Morgana's eternal amusement.

Another gap in history appears now, for we do not know how they found Avalon, but Arthur's legacy as the magic King, one with the dragon's heart, leads on to this day. Now it is time for Excalibur to rise again, in the hands of Kara Analise Ambrosius Pendragon.
