97 Chapter 97: First Animagus Transformation

The agreed-upon location between Alaric and Professor McGonagall was near Hagrid's hut.

As he left the Forbidden Forest, holding the blood-red potion and riding the Skyraider, he found the professor waiting there for quite some time.

"Why didn't you tell me before you started studying Animagus?" Professor McGonagall sternly reprimanded Alaric upon seeing him.

"At your age, using Animagus spell is too dangerous. You could have waited a few more years before attempting it."

However, when she saw the potion in Alaric's hand, she knew it was too late for persuasion.

She sighed and softened her tone, "Well, with your level of Transfiguration, it's not too early to practice Animagus now.

At least you remembered to call me before your first transformation."

Suddenly, she transformed into a spotted cat in the rain.

The cat had glasses-shaped patterns around its eyes. Then, she reverted to her original form and introduced the Animagus transformation to Alaric.

"Animagus spell is a Transfiguration spell that doesn't require wand support.

t's essentially wandless magic, with the same drawbacks as wandless magic: difficult to cast, and if not performed precisely, it can lead to unintended consequences."

She sternly warned, "As a transfiguration magic applied to your own body, Animagus spell is extremely dangerous.

Just practicing it carries great risks.

It not only requires strong magical power but also precise control and strong will to prevent irreversible consequences during the transformation process."

Alaric nodded affirmatively, "I'm fully prepared. This won't trouble me."

"Alright," Professor McGonagall understood Alaric's determination.

"You can begin. Point wand to your heart, chant the incantation 'Amato Animo Animato Animagus' and then drink the potion."

Once the bright red potion entered his stomach, Alaric gradually felt a sharp pain throughout his body, as if all his muscles were being shredded.

He gritted his teeth and struggled to endure it. Then, suddenly, he felt two distinct heartbeats in his chest.

The smaller one was familiar, the kind he often heard when engaging in vigorous activity. But the other heartbeat was larger and considerably more powerful.

With each beat, he felt a surge of powerful magic accompanied by heated blood from his chest. He had a faint guess about what creature his Animagus might be.

Sure enough, the image of a dragon appeared in his mind.

This dragon was different from the fire-breathing bipedal dragons present in this world. It was a true dragon that had appeared in various magical worlds.

It had a distinguished body, a majestic and magnificent dragon head connected to a long and rugged neck adorned with horns and spikes.

Its long tail twisted down. It walked on four strong and powerful legs and flew with a pair of bat-like wings.

Its entire body was covered with fine platinum-colored scales that were semi-transparent and shimmered like diamonds.

This dragon's image wasn't particularly large, only about four or five meters long, but its shape was elegant and powerful.

One could easily imagine the spectacle it would become when fully grown into a creature of several tens or hundreds of meters.

Indeed, dragons were powerful beings, standing firmly at the top of the magical world even among magical creatures.

However, when Alaric's Animagus took the form of a dragon in his mind, he couldn't help but feel a pang of anxiety.

This was because wizards' Animagi were not supposed to transform into magical creatures.

Any attempt to transform into magical creatures as Animagi failed, often with unpredictable consequences.

Alaric believed it was because ordinary creatures lacked magic, while magical creatures inherently possessed magic, completely different from a wizard's magic.

In other words, his Animagus wouldn't succeed until he addressed the issue of magic.

However, now that he had consumed the potion and uttered the incantation, it was too late to stop the transformation.

He could already feel the changes in his body.

Beautiful platinum scales appeared on the surface of his body, and the shape of his skeletal structure continued to change.

His claws began to elongate, teeth sharpened, and spikes emerged on his back.

The most uncomfortable part was a feeling around his shoulder blades and tailbone, as if something wanted to grow out.

He felt as if he had gained two extra arms, and there was a tail-like sensation at the end of his spine.

He felt his thoughts changing as well. He began to become arrogant, craving desires, and advocating for power.

Various conflicting emotions clashed in his mind—Alaric had heard that regular Animagi needed to resist the feelings of wildness and low intelligence during practice.

In comparison, transforming into a dragon seemed to have some advantages, as at least dragons possessed normal intelligence.

But soon, he changed his mind.

He realized that transforming into a dragon posed a greater mental challenge than transforming into ordinary creatures.

The intense thoughts of the dragon began to assault his soul, forcing him to concentrate on resisting these feelings.

Once he succumbed to them, accepted the temptation, he would completely fall into a dragon, a dragon driven by madness and inner desires.

This extreme emotional state, filled with pride, envy, anger, laziness, greed, gluttony, and lust, constantly tempted him.

In the Bible, the Satan was an ancient dragon, and was the symbol of one of the seven deadly sins.

The dragon was exactly such an image, representing the ultimate sin and power.

This power constantly tempted Alaric, like the devil's temptation, the whispering of hell. Even the most mentally firm person could hardly escape from succumbing.

Just as Adam and Eve couldn't resist the temptation of the ancient serpent, even if the serpent was Satan, and Satan was the ancient dragon, the origin of humanity determined that they couldn't maintain themselves under such temptation.

Just like the fallen archangel Lucifer, who couldn't resist pride and eventually fell into hell.

However, Alaric unexpectedly held on. At this moment, his will seemed to have no limits. He persisted under the complete temptation of the dragon race.

If one were to describe it, Alaric felt as if his soul were walking on a tightrope above the abyss, and the abyss had a tremendous attraction for him.

His soul had to maintain balance in this attraction and continue to move forward.

Apart from the experience of drifting in the time-space tunnel, this was probably one of the world's most desperate situations.

Yet, he forcibly calmed his emotions and moved forward with difficulty.
