63 Chapter 63: My Flying Broomstick

Alaric's efforts were not in vain. It took him about a week to understand the structure of the flying broomstick and the effects of various spells used on it.

In fact, if he weren't proficient in ancient magical texts, he wouldn't even be able to complete the step of disassembling the broomstick.

Flying broomstick manufacturing companies usually cast confidential magic to the broomstick.

If Alaric did not use the correct method during disassembly and did not crack the confidentiality magic, these magical protections would render the disassembled broomstick completely useless.

This design is meant to prevent others from disassembling and imitating their technology.

Alaric, like a professional hacker breaking through firewalls or jailbreaking an iPhone, perfectly cracked various protective measures of the broomstick manufacturer, exposing the secrets of the flying broomstick completely to his eyes.

However, breaking is easy, creating is difficult.

Unlike several hundred years ago, since the Ollerton brothers, Bob, Bill, and Barnaby, founded the Cleansweep Broom Company in 1926, the manufacturing of flying broomsticks has moved away from individual handmade production and turned into mass production by companies.

In this situation, the manufacturing of flying broomsticks became an assembly line process, and the design of the broomstick itself and the spells used became increasingly complex.

Currently, the most advanced broomsticks, such as the Nimbus 2001, and the upcoming Firebolt, are created by several or even dozens of professional wizards working together. The Firebolt, in particular, is a top-tier product that requires a significant collaboration.

Only someone like Alaric, who not only has sufficient learning ability but also has a strong memory, could fully understand the most advanced and complete manufacturing methods of modern broomsticks on his own.

During this period, Penelope provided great assistance to Alaric. She patiently helped Alaric organize and classify broomstick parts, make records, and assist in various tasks.

At the same time, she took care of his daily life—Alaric was too engrossed in researching flying broomsticks, even neglecting to return to the common room.

So, Penelope had to bring him meals and clean his clothes every day. She even delegated her responsibilities as a prefect to someone else.

Sometimes, she didn't have time to return to the Ravenclaw common room herself, so she had to deal with things together with Alaric in the Room of Requirement.

Although it was unfortunate, in this state, Alaric did not seize the opportunity to do anything else—jokingly, who would be in the mood for anything else in a laboratory full of wood chips.

However, after spending this week together, the relationship between the two indeed took a step closer, becoming quite tacit and subtle.

For this situation, both Hermione and Cho Chang felt a bit jealous.

In the following week, Hermione complained to Alaric whenever she had the chance about not being included in the experiments.

Cho Chang threw a tantrum for a day, and in the end, when Alaric suggested upgrading her broomstick as compensation, she was appeased.

However, after this experiment, Alaric finally realized the importance of a good research team.

This week, he spent a lot of time on physical or repetitive tasks, while the truly important work, such as deciphering spells and analyzing data, did not take as much time as he had imagined.

So, he decided that during his years at Hogwarts, he would carefully select and train a research team from his classmates to help him go further on the path of magical research.

Of course, the requirements for members of the research team, in addition to intelligence, also included loyalty and appearance.

The former because the research team would eventually come into contact with many of his core secrets.

The latter was his personal hard requirement as a member of the Strict Appearance Control Association.

He wasn't that appearance-oriented person, but considering they would be spending so much time together, their appearance had to be pleasing to look.

Currently, the only qualified team member was Penelope. Hermione and Cho Chang were backups because their magic skills and knowledge were not that high.

Reflecting on the plot of Harry Potter, other suitable team members in the future included Luna Lovegood, who would enroll next year, and the Veela sisters who he might encounter in the future...

Of course, this was just Alaric's temporary fantasy.

Returning to the topic of the flying broomstick.

After completing the research on the flying broomstick, Alaric immediately began making his own broomstick.

This process was entirely done by himself, including material selection, design, woodworking, polishing, engraving, and more.

To make this broomstick, Alaric brought out the best materials from his collection—all special materials obtained through dimensional summoning.

These materials, combined with the spells Alaric summarized from the major flying broomstick companies, formed an almost perfect broomstick.

Alaric named it "Skyraider."

Skyraider had graceful streamlined curves, with golden engravings symbolizing the sun. The tail twigs were neatly smoothed, and the dark footrest seemed to emit light—the entire broomstick exuded a unique sense of beauty.

From a distance, Skyraider was indeed as dazzling as its name suggested.

Of course, using so many precious materials, the broomstick created also possessed extremely powerful attributes.

In terms of speed, the theoretical maximum speed of the broomstick reached 1,120 miles per hour, approximately 1,800 kilometers per hour, or 500 meters per second.

Of course, this is only the theoretical speed, and it is only possible to achieve it without considering the rider.

But even so, Skyraider's speed was already fast enough, and if the rider could handle it, it could even break the sound barrier.

In terms of braking and steering, Skyraider's performance wasn't as stunning as its speed, but it still far exceeded all the flying broomsticks on the market today.

In terms of stability, Skyraider could stand out, it had strong characteristics, standing firm in any situation be it rain or storm. If nothing unexpected happened,

Skyraider also had other characteristics.

The first is autonomy, Skyraider is quite advanced in autonomous systems—other broomsticks can at most receive simple commands like "Up," or perform simple actions like automatic levitation, while Skyraider can achieve automatic piloting.

Although it cannot perform complex flight maneuvers during automatic piloting, this is already a huge breakthrough.

Alaric also decided that when future technology reached the point, he would add true intelligence to Skyraider, such as a magical spirit or something else.

The second characteristic is that it performs better in daylight, or any place with the sun, it kind of uses solar energy.

The third characteristic is Skyraider's solar power. Due to the materials and runes, Skyraider contained vast solar magical power.

Using this solar power, Skyraider could release high temperatures, strong bright light, and even small nuclear fusion reactions at any time—this was Alaric's concept for upgrade of power of sun in magic combined with modern science.

If disclosed, it could even earn him a First-Class Order of Merlin—of course, if those old-fashioned folks could understand what nuclear fusion is.

With Skyraider, whether in Quidditch matches or daily travel, Alaric could be considered invincible.
