7 Deal

"What are you laughing at?" asked Gwen annoyed, her blue eyes looked like they wanted to eat James.

"Hmph, he's a freak, just like his two geezer parents. His wrinkles are disgusting" commented Crabbe viciously as he approached, menacing intentions in his gaze and a fist raised, ready to strike.

The faint smile James had on his face disappeared. His eyes flashed a cold gleam, his expression was devoid of anger, it became stoic as in Edward Rothschild's time.

Before he could hit James, Crabbe's shirt began to rise as if an invisible hand was pulling it up. The fabric came up and slid down the boy's face, covering his face completely.

The boy struggled, trying to get rid of the constricting shirt, the others watching this in amazement.

James took advantage of Crabbe's stagger and kicked him in the leg, causing him to fall flat on the ground. Now Crabbe was lying on the grass with the fabric of his shirt covering his face.

James looked coldly at Crabbe who was writhing on the ground trying to pull his shirt off his face, without a second thought his right leg went to his face, hitting him squarely.

A grunt of pain was heard coming from Crabbe, the white shirt filled with blood. Gwen and the other children looked at James in shock and terror.

Goyle seeing his friend in that state, charged toward James full of fury, and threw a quick punch in his direction. James with a fluid and graceful movement, dodged the blow with a tilt of his body, letting Goyle's fist pass inches from his face.

With astonishing speed, he grabbed Goyle's hand the moment he passed him. Using the strength and momentum of the attacker, he applied a deft twist.

Goyle was unable to resist, despite weighing many pounds more than James. He was thrown to the ground, his body fell and he felt pain in his back from the impact, luckily they were on the grass, as on the concrete it would be more painful.

Again James' leg hit his aggressor's face, but this time Goyle's, breaking his nose, which caused him to bleed a lot.

James looked at Gwen and the other children, "If any of you dare insult my parents, you'll end up just like these two" said James in a cold and intimidating tone.

Gwen and the other children started to run away from James, afraid that they would end up like Crabbe and Goyle. Emily looked at James but quickly withdrew her gaze and followed her sister.

The term of blood traitors wasn't something that bothered James much, his family doesn't care for it either. So when Gwen called him that, he figured a little joke was enough.

But for them to say his parents sucked was something he would not tolerate, he even held back, as he felt a great rage within his being. Something he never felt in his life.

'Phew... take it easy, they're just kids' James thought as he looked at Crabbe and Goyle who were still lying on the grass, unconscious, even though they were kids the punches they threw at James were very damaging, so he didn't think it was wrong for him to teach them a lesson.

He pulled Crabbe's shirt off, he checked to make sure he was only unconscious, he had a broken nose like his friend. He gave him a couple of light slaps to wake him up.

Crabbe upon waking noticed a cold stare on him, noticing James' stare he felt a great fear, he didn't feel like fighting he just wanted to run away.

"Take your friend with you" said James pointing at Goyle. Crabbe got up as best he could, his nose was still dripping blood, he grabbed Goyle and started to get away from James as fast as he could.

Defeating Crabbe and Goyle was not difficult for James, as Rothschild was trained in martial arts, and he must have known how to defend himself. As usual, he showed great talent, so beating two boys a bit heavier than him was not a challenge.

On the other hand, he knew that with magic it was very easy to heal a broken nose, 'I hope they don't tell their parents...' thought James with a grimace as he walked back to his house. If they did, his parents might ground him for the first time.

"Phew... phew... Shall we get away from that monster?" asked one of the children breathing heavily.

Gwen stopped and looked back, she noticed that James hadn't chased them, she remembered his look and it scared her, it reminded her of her father's look when he got angry.

They rested for a few minutes, to catch their breath, as they did so they noticed two boys in the distance, they were Crabbe and Goyle.

"We should tell our parents!" said a boy seeing the broken noses of both boys. Emily looked at him weirdly, since first of all Crabbe and Goyle were going to hit James, and if James didn't fight back he was going to end up the same way they did.

"Of course we won't! If we do we'll be a disgrace to our family, tell him they fell over playing or something" said Gwen looking at Crabbe and Goyle who nodded reluctantly.

"Come on, Emily" said Gwen gripping her younger sister hand tightly and heading for home.

Days passed and luckily no parents came to complain about James breaking their son's nose, 'They must be planning something' thought James sitting on a sofa at home, while quietly eating chocolate frogs.

"What are you thinking about, son?" asked Fleamont seeing the thoughtful look on James' face.

"On my birthday..." said James, he couldn't tell her he had broken two kids' noses.

"Oh, is there anything you want?" asked Fleamont.

James instantly thought about his answer and replied, "A wand."

"You really love magic, but unfortunately it's not possible" said his father sighing.

James knew the answer, but, still, he put on a chagrined expression. There were several reasons why he couldn't get his wand.

Firstly, because of the Ordinance for the Reasonable Restriction of Sorcery on Minors was a British Ministry of Magic statute, written in 1875 that forbade the use of magic on minors outside of school.

Young children under school age like himself who did not have a wand were exempt from the rule as they generally had little or no control over the magic they performed, although, in James' case, this was not the case.

Compliance with the Decree was monitored and enforced by the British Ministry of Magic's Office of Misuse of Magic using the Trace Charm: a spell that allowed the Ministry to learn of magic cast in the vicinity of wizards and witches under the age of seventeen.

As James is younger than eleven, he did not have the tracing enchantment on him, as his parents were expected to keep him under control. One advantage he had was that the Ministry of Magic could only detect where magic was being used, but not who was using it, plus most experts in the Ministry believed that, if a child had magical abilities, he would exhibit them by the age of 7.

This is why it would be very striking if a 6 year old bought a wand and could already control his magic, they could put the tracing enchantment on him if he did.

"Your magic control is far superior, I would say super gifted, but if you buy a wand they will be able to put the tracing enchantment on you. Plus it's convenient to buy your wand when you get your letter to Hogwarts because of the length and stuff" said Fleamont trying to convince his son.

"Alright..." said James in a dejected tone. Besides his fascination with magic, he wanted his wand to start learning spells, as he must become powerful enough to face Voldemort in the future.

Although wandless magic exists it is much more difficult to perform and could have unexpected or volatile results if not performed correctly. The magic he currently controls is very simple, not advanced incantations from the books, trying to perform those incantations without a wand can be very difficult and even dangerous.

"Look, let's make a deal. When you turn 6 I'll give you Miranda Goshawk's Regulatory Book of Grade 1 Spells and Arsenius Jigger's Magical Filters and Potions book. When you are 8, I will give you a theory test from each book, if you pass I will give you a wand so you can start practicing spells" said Fleamont with a smile.

"Really!?" said James with surprise and excitement.

"Of course" said Fleamont happy to see James so happy.

As a father he did not want to clip his son's wings, noting the great genius he possessed it would be a waste that he had to wait so long to be able to have his wand and start his wizarding path. He would obviously follow him closely so that no accident would happen.

"But, if we go buy the wand they can put the tracing spell on me" James said worried about this.

"No problem, the wand I'm going to give you, is an old wand, specifically my mother's, that is your grandmother" said Fleamont.

"Will grandfather be willing to give it to me?" asked James with some sadness. His grandmother died a few years before he was born, leaving his grandfather very sad.

"Of course he will, you're his favorite person. Besides, he'll be proud of you being a wizard at such a young age" nodded Fleamont with a smile.

"The bad news is that it's an old and rather dusty wand" he added.

"Never mind, I want it, it's a deal!" said James enthusiastically.

"Fine, when it's your birthday in a few days I'll give you the books. However, you must promise me that you won't try to perform any spells without a wand" said Fleamont in a much more serious tone.

"I promise. I'll just study the theory" nodded James knew it could be dangerous to try something like that, so he wouldn't do it.

"Then it's a deal" said Fleamont stroking James' head and messing up his hair a bit.
