89 Dementors! Part-1

{Rigel's Room, Slytherin Dorm, Hogwarts}

{10th Sep 1991}

{3rd Person POV}

*Knock Knock* *Knock Knock* *Knock Knock*

'Who the fuck is that?' Rigel woke up to the sounds of his door being subjected to a battering ram. He jerked awake, shifted, and quickly sat up; since his door was locked by the wards, the muffled sound reverberated through his room.

He quickly got up and walked toward the door. He whispered the password in Parseltounge and felt the veil of mana covering his door lift.

*Bang Bang* *Bang Bang* *Bang Bang*

'What time even is it?' Rigel thought as he opened the door. He backed away as Marcus Flint's fist slammed down, missing both the now-opened door and his head. Rigel stared at the Slytherin prefect, who was staring at him. After a moment, Marcus said, "House meeting. Get dressed and come to the common room."

With that, the older Slytherin walked away and started hammering on Blaise's door. Rigel closed his door and went toward his wardrobe. He simply grabbed his school robes and put them on.

"Mundare~" Rigel chanted as he used the cleaning spell and used it on his teeth. The Cleaning spell was a household charm that was a lot softer in its effects than the Scouring Charm. He had tried Scourgify~ once, and that spell had rubbed his skin raw. There was no way he was going to use something like that on his mouth. Just the thought of getting his tongue rubbed raw was unpleasant.

'What happened, though? It is quite late. Don't tell me that there is a tradition of hazing or something after the first years have settled down.' Rigel thought as he opened his door and walked out. Marcus was still banging on the door of Dumb and Dumber, so Rigel ignored them and walked through the corridor. His doubts were washed away when he saw that Snape was there as well.

He hadn't had much interaction with the former death eater, and his impression of him was influenced quite a lot by the books. Severus Snape was a complex character, was he an asshole? Yes. Was he kind of a simp? Yes. Did he sacrifice himself in the end? Yes. Did he have to? Yes?

'I mean, both Severus and Voldemort thought that because he killed Dumbledore, he had the allegiance of the Elder Wand. So he was dead no matter what. Voldy would not have let him live. His job in the end was to make sure Harry knew that he was a Horcrux.' Rigel thought. In the novel and the movie, Harry named his firstborn after both Albus and Severus, which was stupid as well.

'Rowling sometimes planted elaborate ideas into her world, like Severus's apology to Harry in the form of questions. And then she does stupid shit like making Harry a complete pussy about the stuff in the end...' Rigel thought. His eyes collided with Severus's dark orbs, and the tingling sensations at the back of his head returned.

'Really?' Rigel gave his head of the House a raised eyebrow. At least the man had the decency to look away. Rigel was busy staring at the back of his head, which made him know that he had messed up right there when his robe was tucked slightly.

"Do you know what's going on?" Daphne asked as she looked around. Her stoic face was hiding her nervous look as Rigel noticed her less-than-pristine appearance. She still looked gorgeous, but Rigel could tell from her sleepy eyes that she was missing her beauty sleep.

"I'm not sure, but something's up. Maybe somebody died?" Rigel guessed, getting a raised eyebrow from Daphne. He shrugged, and by the time he turned back to glare at Snape again, the man was already addressing the room.

"Everyone will follow the prefects to the Great Hall. No messing around. I don't want to hear any disruptions on the way over." Snape drawled, his voice still echoing throughout the common room. "After that, the Headmaster will address everyone. Move!"

Everyone suddenly jerked at the sound of Snape's command, and Rigel could see the prefects discreetly motioning their little groups to start herding everyone along. Rigel debates about making a scene about Snape's legilimency probe but then decides against it for now. He could tell that something serious was happening, and from his memory, the only time something like this happened in canon was during the third year.

'The timing makes sense; Sirius must have attempted to go after Pettigrew, and the fat Lady must have been attacked.' Rigel thought he needed to check the map, but at the same time, did he want to slip away when everyone was around?

'Still, if I could even catch a glimpse of where Sirius fled, too, I might be able to track him down. The Marauder's map shows only the names and locations around Hogwarts, and Sirius would not dare stay inside the Hogwarts wards. Plus, I also need to check if Pettigrew ran away,' Rigel thought.

"Come on, let's go," Daphne tugged at his sleeve again, and with a sigh, he finally relented. He would look at the names after settling in. Rigel followed along with the rest of the first years as a nervous tension lingered around their group. Everyone was double-checking every corner as they swiftly made their way to the Great Hall.

Out of the four houses, Slytherin's common room was the closest to their destination, as the entrance to the dungeons was right beside the grand staircase. Rigel's eyes lingered along Dumbledore's figure. The old wizard was wearing an embroidered white robe, and only because his mana sense confirmed that the robe was a transfigured object did he not look at the old man like he had gone insane.

Rigel looked around. The tables were gone, making it pretty easy for him to guess what had transpired. He wanted to look at the map, but at the same time, he knew what Dumbledore would do next.

'The school will be on lockdown, so at least the rat will not have any time to run,' Rigel thought.

After Slytherin and Hufflepuff arrived, most of the students were rubbing their eyes, trying to get rid of the sleep. Ravenclaw and Gryffindor's common room was the farthest away from the Great Hall, so it took them some time to arrive. Right away, Rigel could see the difference between Slytherin and the other houses. Most of them didn't even try to use the basic charms to fix their appearances as they trudged into the room.

*Bang*

"Attention!" Dumbledore shouted once everyone was in. His wand erupted with a loud noise as everyone tuned in to look at the old wizard who was dressed for a ball.

'Let's go. Once he conjures the bedrolls for everyone, I could duck into it and take a look at the map...'
