5 Chapter 4: Early Training

Chapter 4: Early Training

A few months had passed since my first battle in Knockturn Alley. Additionally, I had celebrated my 11th birthday with Alicia yesterday.

'It's also my first birthday in this world.'

during these few months, I've started exercising regularly, which to be honest, I don't like, I've never been the type who enjoys exercise however I had to improve my physical condition if I wanted to keep up with [Combat Mode], since it takes a huge toll on the body.

I had also spent countless hours reading every book on magic that I could get my hands on. From spellcasting to potion-making, most of which were Alicia's old textbooks from when she attended Hogwarts.

Through countless hours of reading and attempting to use several spells with my stolen wand. I had managed to conclude that [Talents], Doesn't make me a super genius.

From my limited understanding, I could infer that my [Talents] probably only improves my cognitive understanding of that specific subject. for example, I'd understand shit faster.

Let's say, Ancient Runes was 5 rather than 4, my understanding of the theoretical knowledge behind it would be learned faster than if I had 4, but It didn't exactly mean I could cast or utilize that specific subject instantaneously since, 1. I had never done it before, 2. Just because I understand the theory behind it doesn't mean the practical work would be the same.

However that doesn't apply to my system, since I can improve my spells by using them.

The so-called spell-casting proficiency system.

An example would be [Protego.Lv1] The more I use it, the easier it is to use, and the easier it is to use the stronger the ability becomes, and for that to happen I need the corresponding theoretical knowledge and practical experience which then levels up the skill.

"Spell List," I whispered.

[Spell List:

Charms: Expelliarmus.Lv1, Wingardium Leviosa.Lv2, Lumos.Lv1, Nox.Lv1, Incendio.Lv1, Protego.Lv1, Stupefy.Lv1, Reparo.Lv0, Alohomora.Lv0

Curses: Tongue-Tying Curse.Lv0

]

A smile tugged my lips as I stared at the spells I've learned over the few months, It's that one feeling where you obtain that really good item in game and can't help admiring it.

'Time to continue.' I thought with an exasperated sigh.

I got up from the comfy chair while closing the thick leathery book and placing it on the table, before reaching out my hand and muttering

"Wingardium Leviosa."

The book began to levitate slowly, hovering in the air for a moment before I released the spell in exhaustion, marking the twelfth attempt today.

Picking up my quill and dipping it into the ink, I began to write:

"Experiment Log #1024: Wandless casting

Based on my previous observations, it is hypothesized that proficiency in wandless casting can be achieved through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application when the proficiency in using said spell has been done multiple times.

It is further hypothesized that emotions and intent may play a significant role in enhancing spellcasting proficiency, thereby influencing wandless casting abilities.

Initial attempts at wandless casting yielded limited success, with spells exhibiting reduced effectiveness and precision compared to wand-assisted casting.

Over time, with continued practice and experimentation, improvements in wandless casting abilities were observed, including increased spell accuracy and control.

Conclusion: The results of Log #1024 are that proficiency in wandless casting can be achieved through a combination of theoretical study and practical experimentation.

Intent and Emotions were found to play a significant role in enhancing magic control, leading to accelerated progress in wandless casting abilities. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term effects of how Emotions and intent play a role in this."

"Huu..." I took a deep breath as I slumped back into the chair.

During the entire duration of my training, the most important project was probably my wandless casting.

It had taken months just to get Wingardium Leviosa to work wandlessly, making it probably the highest-leveled spell I currently possessed.

I had worked tirelessly to achieve these results. Since the day I started these experiments, I hadn't achieved anything substantial in the entire duration of two months.

'But I didn't give up'

Despite the initial setbacks and countless failed attempts, I didn't give up

I had many reasons for learning wandless casting but the most obvious one was, that I didn't want to be powerless without a wand.

From my understanding of wands, thanks to Olivander, I've realized that wands are still very useful since they enhance a wizard's control over their magical power and augments their power to a certain extent. Additionally, some wands have varying effects which most of the time are positive, these effects depend on their type of material and magical core.

As I was contemplating the effects of different types of wands, a sudden bang jolted me out of my thoughts

Turning my attention from the bedside desk, I saw an owl with deep brown feathers and a couple of white spots, holding an envelope in its beak just outside the window.

Quickly, I approached the window and opened it, allowing the owl to gracefully glide inside. With a gentle flutter, it landed on the desk, extending its beak for me to retrieve the envelope. As I took the envelope, a wide smile was plastered on my face.

Gently removing the letter from envelope and unfolded the two yellowish-beige parchment papers. I read the letter.

As I looked at the letter in my hand, I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Ever since I became a fan of the Harry Potter franchise, I had wished that this would one day happen to me.

I mean, who wouldn't want to go to a magical world and wield badass powers? But most importantly was...

the bottomless regret I felt for not achieving anything in my previous life.

It wasn't that I was stupid or incapable of achieving anything.

No, it was something more profound.

Motivation.

I could never grasp that feeling. Everything I did felt extremely dull and repetitive. The only interesting part of my previous life was probably the video games I played and the novels I read.

When I arrived in this world, I didn't feel it at first but...

Now I could.

The spark of motivation.

The feeling that will drive me forward beyond my limits.
