3 Chapter 2: I was right, wasn't I?

Chapter 2: I was right, wasn't I?

As I stepped out of the Leaky cauldron and into the bustling streets of Diagon Alley once more, the cool breeze tousled my hair, and I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the air.

Burke's presence still hung heavy in my mind, and I knew that we would hear from him soon enough...

I glanced at Alicia, her expression thoughtful as she navigated through the crowd with practiced ease. "Mom, what was that all about back there?" I asked, unable to contain my curiosity any longer.

Alicia sighed, her brow furrowing slightly. "It's nothing you need to worry about, Klein. It's just after your father..," she replied evasively, though I could tell there was more to it than she was letting on.

Her words hung heavy in the air, leaving an unspoken tension between us. I knew better than to press further about my father.

From Klein's memories, it was a subject she rarely spoke about, and whenever she did, it was always with a hint of sadness and regret.

[Ding! Congratulations, you've completed your first quest! You've obtained 3 Starter Tomes.]

[Would you like to use the 3 Starter Tomes?]

[Yes/No]

'Huh?' Was there something like that? There's no reason to refuse, I thought.

Mentally opting to click [Yes], I could hear the sounds of three book pages turning at rapid speed, causing a slight headache. Suddenly, the knowledge within those tomes began assimilating into my own.

[Ding! You've acquired Protego Lv0.]

[Ding! You've acquired Stupefy Lv0.]

[Ding! You've acquired Basic Cast Lv0.]

[Assimilating knowledge into the Bloodline Ability: Combat Mode(?).]

Then, the headache disappeared, replaced with the knowledge of the three spells.

Honestly, the feeling was exhilarating after the headache disappeared, was it the feeling of getting to know something you didn't before? I didn't know but I'd probably find out one day.

The eerie silence of Knockturn Alley enveloped us as we continued walking, the whispers of shady wizards and presumably some dark wizards created a backdrop to our thoughts.

Glancing at Alicia, I noticed the furrow of her brow and the distant look in her eyes. It was evident that something troubled her, though she remained quiet about it.

Before I could inquire further, a sudden commotion up ahead seized our attention. From the shadows emerged a group of hooded figures.

'I was right... wasn't I?.' I thought absentmindedly

I could feel the air was extremely heavy.

Alicia's grip on my hand tightened, her expression tense as she scanned the crowd for an escape route. "Stay close to me, Klein," she murmured, her voice low but I could feel the urgency hidden within it.

Before we could even make a move, the figures surrounded us, their faces hidden beneath the folds of their dark cloaks. My heart pounded in my chest, I had felt this coming but when it happened I was still scared shitless.

I mean this was my first fight in the wizarding world, I didn't have a wand and I don't think i could be of any help even with one.

I braced myself for whatever was to come, my mind was racing with a thousand possibilities of how this would end.

And then...

I was calm.

My view changed.

It felt weird...

I was looking at myself from a third-person perspective.

Just like in... the game?

[Bloodline Ability: Combat Mode(?) has been activated]

I watched as Alicia, with a swift motion, raised her left arm, tightly clutching her wand, and cast the first spell. With determination in her voice, she shouted, "Expelliarmus!"

The cloaked men were already prepared and cast Protego simultaneously. However, Alicia's spell was faster, catching one of them off guard and disarming him. His wand flew through the air, and instinctively, I reached out and caught it in midair.

I didn't know why but something within me was telling me to fight, It was almost... Instinctual.

Alicia's eyes widened in surprise as she turned to me, her expression a mix of concern and fear. "Klein, be careful!" she called out. When I tried to catch the wand midair, I had jumped away a slight distance which gave the black-robbed wizards a chance to strike me.

And when I looked at myself from the third perspective, the markers above my head suddenly turned orange, and I knew what was happening

"Protego!" I yelled, reciting the spell I had learned just moments ago. The shimmering shield materialized before me, deflecting the incoming spells just in time.

Alicia's eyes widened in surprise as she watched me defend myself. "Klein, you... you can use magic?" she exclaimed, disbelief evident in her voice.

The Black hooded wizards were also stunned momentarily before becoming more wary.

It was kinda obvious she would react like this.

I mean how would you explain a 10-year-old using a sixth-year spell taught at Hogwarts?

I nodded,

Deciding to play 'I'm a genius but i don't understand shit, card" my heart pounded in my chest as I focused on the task at hand.

"I don't know how, but it feels... natural," I replied, my voice firm but uncertain.

I didn't understand what was happening. since I had no clue what I was doing but...

It was as instinctual as clicking [Q] on the keyboard when I played Hogwarts Legacy.

Alicia's gaze flickered between me and our adversaries, her expression a mix of concern and confusion. "Klein, stay behind me," she urged, her voice trembling slightly with both fear and determination.

I nodded in acknowledgment, my grip tightening on the wand I had caught. Despite my uncertainty, there was a strange sense of clarity in that moment.

The hooded figures, regaining their composure, began to cast several spells

"Petrificus Totalus!",

"Stupefy!",

"Expelliarmus!"

I saw the same orange marker above my head and the I yelled at the top of my lungs

"Protego!"

With a swift motion, I parried the incoming spell, the shimmering shield of Protego deflecting the Full Body-Bind Curse. As I shifted my weight, I danced to the side, dodging another curse aimed at me.

In one fluid movement, I pivoted on my heel, bringing my right leg back in a graceful arc. With precise aim, I pointed my wand at one of the assailants and cast a few basic casts, before bellowing "Stupefy!"

The spell was sent forth from my wand, crackling with red light as it raced towards its target. The Stupefy hit its mark with pinpoint accuracy, knocking the hooded figure off balance and sending them crashing to the ground.

I felt something within me well up but I ignored it.

As the hooded figures continued to unleash their spells, Alicia stood beside me, her wand raised and determination etched on her face. "Klein, focus on defense, I'll cover you!" she shouted over the din of the battle.

With her guidance, I fortified my Protego shield, deflecting the incoming curses with greater precision. Alicia's spells complemented mine perfectly, creating a formidable barrier against our assailants.

"Expelliarmus!" she cried out, her voice ringing clear as she disarmed another hooded figure with expert aim. I seized the opportunity, following up with a well-timed "Stupefy!" that sent the disarmed wizard tumbling backward.

With the last hooded figure incapacitated, a sense of relief washed over me

"Huff., Puff.." I gasped for breath as the fight was finally over.

Alicia approached me, her expression a mix of concern and pride. "Are you alright, Klein?" she asked, her voice soft with reassurance.

"Yeah," I replied, managing a weak smile. "Just a bit tired."

Alicia nodded, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. "You did well out there," she said, her voice filled with genuine admiration. "I'm proud of you."

[Bloodline Ability: Combat Mode(?) has been deactivated]

And then exhaustion hit me and I fell unconscious.

Chapter end.
