15 Emry's Bloodline

Following the goblin he led me into the back rooms of Gringotts. I took in the sight as we walked through different rooms as this area of Gringotts was never really mentioned in the books. After walking for a while we arrived at a door.

"We will do the bloodline test in here Mr. Osbourne"

I nodded at the goblins words and followed him in. For some reason his tone of voice sounded almost mocking. I imagine that usually when a kid my age asks for one of these test it comes out that they don't have a bloodline or if they do its weak. I can't imagine the amount of orphan magical kids who get told their bloodline is common or not even connected to a family at all…

Looking into the room it was filled with different magical runes. All the runes dotted around seemed to be link to a rune in the center that had a space in the middle. I could wager a guess that my blood would be dropped into the center to be identified.

"Hand out please"

The goblin abrasively called out to me ordering me to extend my hand out. As I did he grabbed it and pricked the end of my finger drawing blood into a vial. I looked at the goblin coldly as he was pretty rough with the procedure, especially so considering I was only 8 years old in this body. He didn't notice my cold gaze as he walked to the center of the room crouching down.

Taking the vial my blood had been put into he poured a few droplets into the center rune. As the drops of blood hit the center, the runes around the room started to light up. The goblin turned to me and spoke;

"This can take a bit of tim-"

Midway through the goblins explanation the runes started to emit an intense amount of magic. He turned away from me and started to look at the event going on in shock. His eyes widened as he looked slack-jawed at the runes around the room. All of the runes started to emit a deep purple colour.

"Th-Th-This!?"

He seemed to be in complete shock as the runes started to rumble even more violently. The magic started to shake the room we were in and the rumbles spread out into the nearby areas of Gringotts. Soon after more goblins ran into the room and looked at the runes emitting a deep purple magic aura in shock.

"W-What's going on!?"

One of the goblins shouted towards me and the goblin who had done the bloodline test. The goblin who had now fallen onto his backside turned to the goblins that had entered the room. With a quivering jaw he pointed towards me.

"I-It's that boy's bloodline! It's causing this!"

All the gazes turned to me which they didn't take notice to until now. Goblins were prideful and just assumed the runes broke due to an error however after the goblin that had tested my bloodline confirmed it was my bloodline that cause this, their eyes finally arrived on me.

The runes continued to emit a powerful purple magic and the rumblings continued to get stronger and stronger. Even I started to lose my footing as the runes seemed to start going crazy. Seeing this all happen my mind started to roll with questions. Just what bloodline did I have to cause this crazy scene? Could it be a founder's bloodline?

The momentum just seemed to keep increasing and words appeared in the runes on the far wall. It was reminiscent of when Tom Marvolo Riddle wrote his name in the chamber and it switched to 'I am Lord Voldemort'. Big purple text appeared showing a single name, seeing it I joined in with the gazes of shock from the goblins. The name showed was…

'Emrys'

The goblins stared at the name written in the runes on the wall and back to me. One of them pointed at me whilst his lip was quivering.

"T-This boy's Merlin's descendant! I never thought we'd find a Descendant of Merlin in this age!"

All the goblins started to exclaim in awe, I however was left on another question in my head. I was Merlin's descendant? I was confident I was going to get a founders bloodline or something so Merlin as a character slipped my mind. I knew he was a great wizard, one of the best even, but my shock was still vivid seeing his name instead of a founder's name which I expected initially...

As I started to question who Merlin really was in the Harry Potter world the head goblin who was at the desk when I entered Gringotts had arrived in the room. Seeing the runes on the far wall he turned to me and stared at me deeply. Compared to the indifference he showed when I entered Gringotts, his gaze now was filled with reverence and respect.

"Mr. Os- no, Mr. Emrys! Who would have guessed we'd witness the founding of Merlin's descent! Come, come quick with me we will arrange everything you need to get Merlin's inheritance".

Merlin's Inheritance? He actually left something behind? I don't know why but considering how ancient Merlin's bloodline is I would have guessed Merlin didn't have any inheritance left here in Gringotts. Thinking this I decided to ask;

"You actually have Merlin's Inheritance with you?"

"Yes Mr. Emrys, whilst Gringotts itself was founded in 1474 our connections go back way further than that date. Goblins before Gringotts acted like merchants and peddlers who dealt with different witches and wizards. We actually built Gringotts on top of ancient vaults connected to wizards like Merlin as a way to keep them safe and secure waiting for descendants of these ancient wizards to appear. For many years though none have ever surface, that is until today!"

The head goblin ushered me out from the bloodline room taking me past all the goblins who were still looking up at me shocked. I felt a grin come to my face looking back at the goblin who did the bloodline test still sat down on the floor looking at the name in front of him in shock. Serves him right for pricking me so damn hard…

.

After being taken out of the bloodline room, the head goblin lead me towards the vaults of Gringotts personally. He seemed spoke to me in a very polite and reserved way now that my bloodline had been tested and confirmed. As we got to the vaults area we hopped onto one of those carts, the same that Harry, Ron and Hermione used to get to Bellatrix's vault.

"The journey will take a long time Mr. Emrys, Merlin's vault is one of the most deeply hidden vaults underground. Goblins have attempted to open it throughout the years however with ancient vaults they usually can only be unlocked by people with the right bloodline. Some ancient vaults even have trials to get through which are next to impossible for new age wizards and witches…"

He seemed incredibly talkative now compared to when we first met. I gather that he wants to gain a connection with me considering how highly regarded Merlin's bloodline is. Gringotts as a whole probably wanted to keep my favour now as the head goblin himself was escorting me instead of a normal goblin worker.

"Let's get our journey underway"

As the head goblin finished that note, he started the cart we were on and it started to zoom down into Gringotts depths. I saw numerous vaults flash by my eyes as the cart went deeper and deeper into the Gringotts. As we kept delving deeper I kept thinking we couldn't be far off now however it just seemed to go on and on, down and down further into Gringotts every minute.

After an hour of descent, we arrived at the depths of Gringotts. Looking around at the vaults here the doors into them were noticeably more weathered however the feeling they gave, the ancient feeling, made me feel like I was being pressured just by looking at them. As we got off the cart we started to walk down past all the ancient vaults until we arrived to one near the end of the cavern area. Looking at the door ahead, it was the biggest door I had seen yet. That was Merlin's Vault?

As I walked towards the door I turned around and saw that the head goblin had stopped walking with me.

"Why have you stopped?"

"If I move any closer the vault will attack me"

"You didn't warn me that I could be attacked?"

The head goblin looked conflicted and a bit apologetic as I asked this.

"W-W-Well we confirmed your bloodline so I gathered the vault would allow you to get near it… My apologies it probably should have been mentioned…"

Seeing that the head goblin was genuinely apologetic I sighed and continued on towards the vault door. As I arrived in front of it my heartrate started to increase. The blood in my body started to heat up and react as if it was ready to open the door ahead. Placing my hand on the big vault door, it started to eject a deep purple colour.

As the deep purple colour shot out towards me and the head goblin, the door started to open slowly. Seeing it had opened, I turned to the head goblin. He seemed to understand what I was going as he responded to my gaze;

"Don't worry I'll wait here for you Mr. Emrys!"

Nodding at the head goblins words I entered into the vault…

.

Walking through into Merlin's vault I saw a corridor leading down further. Seeing this I heaved a sigh, I still had to walk? Why did he build the vault so damn deep?

Walking slowly down into the main area I felt my blood continue to burn as if it was reacting to the vault itself. Runes seemed to be placed on all the cavern walls around me and eventually I found myself in a centre room. The room had 4 pillars holding it up. Runes seemed to be littered everywhere. In the centre of the room was a pedestal and at the back wall of this area I saw…

"Holy shit… is that gold?!"

I walked past the pedestal for now that was screaming at me to check it out. Walking to the back wall I saw a few piles of gold left behind presumably by Merlin. The gold itself was ancient gold from when Merlin was alive. Picking it up my hands started to shake.

"With this… I might be able to help New Leaf and even have some to spare to buy my own supplies!"

I didn't know how much this would convert to however it seemed like a good initial investment for me. With the money earned from converting this gold I would be able to work towards other methods that would generate me money. The main thing I wanted to try was manufacturing artifacts…

Taking my bag off my back I looked at the gold on the floor and sighed. I didn't have a pouch with an extension charm yet and seeing the situation in front of me I probably should have asked the head goblin for one before we made the trip down here. I moved the pile of gold into my bag and put it back on my back. The bag was now noticeably heavier.

"It's a small amount of gold but considering how ancient it is I should get some decent money… I guess Merlin left this for his descendants as a gift~"

I was extremely happy so far with this vault and turning to the pedestal that seemed to be screaming to me in the middle I smiled unintentionally. Walking over to the pedestal, I looked at the rune that was drawn onto it.

"Do I drop my blood onto this? Or just place my hand…"

I decided to place my hand on first. As I did the runes on the pedestal started to glow and the top part of the pedestal seemed too unattached. Pushing the lid off onto the floor I looked inside of the pedestal. Inside was something that shocked me to the core.

"Is that a fucking dragon's heart!?"

Inside the pedestal was a dragon's heart, an actual dragon's heart. It emitted an insane amount of magic and even made me feel like I was staring at a beast just looking at it. It was only the heart of the dragon yet I was actually frightened just looking at it. Whilst I was looking down at the dragon's heart, one of the pillars that held up this ancient vault started to open up also, showing contents inside.

For now I decided to place the pedestals lid back over the heart, I wasn't about to carry that around with me in my bag…

Walking over to the pillar that had opened up, I saw a box that was placed inside. Seeing all these mechanisms at work I deemed that Merlin was a particularly meticulous guy who was a huge fan of using runes. Grabbing the box from the pillar, the pillar closed up and left me with the box in my hands. I took the box over to the pedestal and placed it onto it. Opening the box, my shock only grew.

Inside was a wand. An English Oak wand as far as I could tell. Underneath the wand were a couple notes and the inside of the box seemed to be made of velvet material that seemed almost regal. My first instinct was to grab the wand. As I did it seemed to connect with me instantly, it felt like an extension of myself.

"This… This is incredible!"

The wand felt incredible in my grasp as it connected to me deeply. Considering how ancient this wand was I started to wonder if this wand didn't have the trace on it either… If that was the case, I could practice magic far before I enrolled at Hogwarts! Also… If I get this wand here could I still get another at Ollivanders?

More and more questions seemed to fill my mind however I couldn't contain my curiosity looking at the notes that were underneath the wand. Grabbing the notes I read through them. One seemed to be a collection of different notes about magic spells, ancient spells that I couldn't even identify. The main part that intrigued me the most was the part labelled 'Emry's Ritual'. The other note was a message that seemed to be purposely made for me, Merlin's descendant.

'To my Descendant,

I wish this wand and notes alongside everything else in this vault help you grow. The heart placed in the pedestal at the middle is for use in the ritual mentioned in some of these notes, you should gather more materials over the years you grow in this world as this will aid you in the long term…

The key placed within here though, you must discover where that key is used yourself. If you figure out where it's used, you will attain great gains. If you don't, I can only say I'll be disappointed

From,

Myrddin Emrys'

Reading through this note I instantly started to realise that this 'Merlin' or as he referred to himself as 'Myrddin' was far more than meets the eye. My ancestor seemed to be the most enigmatic man in the Harry Potter world to me purely after reading this note. Looking around the vault, how it had been laid out. It felt as though this was all… planned. Especially considering Merlin left in his notes.

'Gather more materials over the years you grow in 'This World''

The main part was the words 'This World'. It felt as though Merlin knew his descendant would be a reincarnated individual… Or maybe I'm just reading into it too much. Merlin seemed to mention a key though? Looking back into the box I spotted the key that seemed to be buried underneath the notes I had grabbed.

Grabbing the key it looked ancient and rusted. The letter 'E' was on the main part of the key which obviously stood for 'Emrys'. I could only guess this key was used for wherever Merlin's household was located or at least a place he called home. Why would he make this the trial though?

More and more questions seemed to be added into my mind. I looked at all the rewards I had gathered from this Gringotts trip feeling overwhelmed. I really didn't expect to be this lucky. Merlin's bloodline… it seemed there was far more to it than a simple man who went to Hogwarts and learnt under the founders. Looking at the magical notes and the section labelled 'Emry's Ritual' I even started to feel like it was the other way round with Merlin teaching the founders…

I placed the fancy box into my bag with the notes, key and wand placed back within. Looking back at the pedestal I decided it was truly for the best to leave that massive dragon's heart here as it would definitely make me stand out carrying it around. I needed time to digest all this, but for now I still had to focus on my main goal which was helping Nana.

The gold left in this vault would help me to that end and with a wand in hand now it was possible to help even more. Turning around I headed towards the cavern corridor, back towards the entrance of the vault…
