New Day and Ritual Magic

Today is the first day, or technically the 2nd day of school.

We were currently sitting at our breakfast table when Ron got a howler. Apparently, he was the last one, along with Harry and Neville. He decided it was a brilliant idea to use his father's flying car to reach school, which both of them rejected and opted to wait for Neville's parents. However, they got cussed out by Ron for being cowards, questioning their Gryffindor status, and decided to use his father's flying car.

Well, after listening to that howler, it's safe to say it was a very bad idea from the get-go, as everything related to the flying car still happens minus Harry, as he and Neville chose to wait and directly went to school via floo powder.

That was the highlight of today, and I can see Ginny just distancing herself from her brother.

It's the next day, and today we have double Herbology, Transfiguration. Then we have lunch, and after that, in DADA, Lockhart gives a quiz about himself and unleashes Cornish pixies. I had already cast a Notice-Me-Not charm and Protego on me and Daphne.

After that disaster, soon came dinner. After that, as always, Daphne and I went to the Room of Requirement, and she will practice her positions and ritual magic.

We are also currently gathering materials for a few small rituals for different things. It's such a useful branch of magic with so many different varieties of rituals, from simple time rituals of gaining resistance to poison and curing any illnesses and diseases depending on the severity (these are the ones I am focusing on) to highly advanced rituals such as increasing one's magical capacity and a ritual that can give a watered-down version of magic sight.

Now, I had a thought looking at the ritual to increase magical capacity. Could this be the reason for Morag Macdougal's absurdly high magic capacity, as she can throw powerful spells all day long?

"Hey, Daph," she responded with a "hmm, what?" I proceeded, "Do you think this might be the reason for Morag's absurdly high magic capacity?" She thinks for a bit and then answers, "It could be, but with how high you say her capacity is, she should also have a higher magic capacity, even higher than your current one, and a very powerful magical artifact was sacrificed." She pauses for a bit and in a grim tone, she says, "Or a lot of human sacrifice. I don't mean one or two; it should be at least 20 magical human sacrifices to gain that much magic."

I thought about it for a bit and said, "Yeah, maybe she was born with a higher magical capacity, and an artifact was used because if human sacrifice was used, her magic would have been dark. But it was completely transparent, and now it's kind of bright purple. But they wasted her potential, as she will never be able to fully use that much magic."

After that discussion, we went back to our studies, and I wanted to finish off that basilisk early, as I don't want to risk it hurting Daphne on the basis that she is a pureblood. However, I also don't want to interfere, as it may lead to unforeseen consequences. After thinking about pros and cons, I decided to let it happen as it should be. Since I remembered all the victims, I might be able to save them or at least reduce the number of victims.

Do comment on whether I should interfere with the plot or not because if I do, I am thinking about killing the basilisk right off the bat, and I will end year 2 in 3 to 4 chapters. If I don't interfere, I will just follow all the events throughout the year.

sorry for the short chapter
