69 Damn Twins

At the top of the Astronomy tower, Harry tosses his Cloak aside and stretches his arms, quickly followed by Hermione. Draco and I would like to do the same, but given how we don't want them to know we're here. Plus we're at the top of the tallest tower in the school. It's positively idiotic to just casually throw something as valuable as an Invisibility Cloak to the side. What if the wind blew it off? Or it covered something and you couldn't find it again?

Honestly. I'd expect something like this from Weasley, and I guess Harry's intelligence has been dropping due to association, so him too. But Hermione is the smart one of the group! Though since it's not her incredibly valuable object at risk of flying off to who knows where I guess she doesn't care.

Which is understandable. Honestly, I'm tempted to steal his Cloak to teach him a lesson about treating his stuff with more respect. I thought he already understood that lesson given how little we had growing up, but I guess not.

Anyways, everyone is just waiting silently for the wizards to show up and take the 'dragon' away with them. Though Hermione does make a comment about how quiet Norbert - really? That's its name? - is being, but Harry just laughs.

"He probably got drunk and passed out after drinking all of the brandy Hagrid put in the crate with it."

I exchange looks with Draco at that interesting bit of news. Seriously? He gave a baby dragon less than a month old alcohol? Sure, it's magical and all. And probably has all kinds of magic weirdness to stop alcohol from negatively affecting it, but still! 'Unless it's perfectly fine to give them alcohol? Maybe I'll check with Tracy when we get back…'

Anyways, after ten minutes of waiting, four wizards show up in completely unsuspicious clothing. Like, actually unsuspicious! They look like they just grabbed their brooms and decided to go out for a night-time flight. They act like… what's the word…? Oh! They're muscleheads! But that doesn't really seem to fit given how they did manage to get here without getting detected.

Unless the headmaster has decided to give Harry a free pass on basically anything he wants to do. But even I doubt that he'd just let some random wizards just fly into the premier wizarding school. At least according to what I've heard.

But to sum up their visit: they make small talk, one of them wonders about how Hermione is going to grow up, and the other two just nod at the talkative ones' words. Then they strap the 'dragon' between the four of them and leave.

Watching them fly away and Harry and Hermione staring after them with satisfaction causes an idea to pop into my head, and after dragging Draco away to explain, we put it into action.

We go inside to the top of the stairs and remove the Cloak. Then we wait and listen to their footsteps as they approach our position. Now, what should have happened is that the two of us walk into the tower and bump into the two of them while they're invisible under the Cloak. But what actually happens is that they're trying to leave as they are! They positively suck at trying to be sneaky.

So, instead of bumping into a pair of invisible individuals and being surprised at why they're here, we instead bump into two very visible people and knock everyone to the ground. Though I suppose our initial planned reactions would still work, now something feels off about them now, so instead…

"Gasp! A secret midnight rendezvous at the Astronomy tower! How shameless!" I shake my head in mock disappointment while getting stunned looks from everyone else. "And to think it's my own twin and the smartest girl in our year… the scandal!"

Harry is the first one to come back to his senses, but instead of addressing my words his eyes narrow and he asks me in an accusing tone, "And what are the two of you doing here?"

Taking his hostility in stride - even if I do want to smack him - I speak with confidence. "Obviously we also are having a secret midnight rendezvous."

Sighing, Draco reaches into the pocket of his robes and pulls out a folded piece of paper. Unfolding it, it expands into a large paper fan. Which he then proceeds to smack the top of my head with.

Obviously I'm unfazed, but Hermione can't hold back her curiosity and asks him both where he'd gotten such an object from and why he'd hit me with it. To which he replies, "Misha handed it to me one day and said that when she starts talking about things she has no knowledge of, to hit her with it."

Looking back at me, the question is clear in her eyes. And there's a slight blush on her face? 'Weird. Is she sick?'

But after letting out her own sigh, "So what are the two of you actually doing here?"

"Obviously we were hoping to see the dragon before you threw it off the tower."

Out of the corner of my eye I see Draco's hand still holding the fan twitch, causing me to chuckle. But the abject shock on Hermione's face is far more amusing. What isn't is how Harry now seems even more hostile than before. Really, this is starting to get old.

"How did you know about the dragon?" He asks sharply, causing me to roll my eyes.

"The dumb redhead literally left us a note talking about the dragon, and how you all were planning to dispose of it up here. Obviously I'd try and catch a peek of it before it was out of reach forever."

"Can you…can you not make it sound like we killed it? It's rather disconcerting." Hermione's previous slight red has been replaced by slight green now. 'It really is fun messing with people like this~. I might get addicted~.'

Ignoring her objection, I shrug. "But since it seems like we're too late, the dragon destined to never fly in Hogwarts again due to your actions, I suppose that we'll take our leave."

Leaning down, I pick up my Invisibility Cloak and shake it out, drawing a shout from Harry. "Hey! That's my Invisibility Cloak!"

I look at him with eyes full of disappointment. "Really, Harry? Really? You're telling me that you nicely folded your Invisibility Cloak and left it at the top of the stairs? Did it even cross your mind that this one could belong to me? I got it as a Christmas present."

Realizing that he'd left his own Cloak in a pile on the balcony, a brief expression of embarrassment flashes across his face only for suspicion to replace it. "If you got an Invisibility Cloak at Christmas, why didn't you tell me about it?"

"I did. Guess staring into a cursed mirror messes with your memory. Who could have guessed?" I shoot back sarcastically, then glance at Hermione so she knows that she's included in my next words as well. "A better question is why I wasn't told about the dragon. I'm sure both of you know that I would have liked to see it, at the very least. But instead you hid it from me and cast it from the tower."

Huffing, I turn to Draco, who's been a surprisingly silent observer to our conversation. "Come on Draco, let's hea-"

"WWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

My words are interrupted by a sudden screeching that fills the room, prompting everyone to clamp their hands to their ears in an attempt to block it out. It doesn't help that much, but it does help a bit. Really, just enough for me to realize that the sound is originating from my shoes.

Looking down, I see that a mouth has grown on the top of it, which is the source of the screaming. While the sound reverberates in my ears, one thought rings clear in my mind.

'Damn twins.'
