Chapter 92: Not Happy, Relieved
"You weren't happy, Carissa. You were relieved. That's completely different." He took her face into his hands and wiped her tears with his thumbs. "You were under incredible stress, and your emotions were all over the place. You were alone, with no real support, and the one person in the world who should have been by your side every second was out screwing around with someone else." His tone turned hard, venomous. "Everything happens for a reason, and I firmly believe you weren't meant to have Danny's baby."
She blinked, and more tears fell.
"Danny's not a good guy, and he doesn't treat you right. Can you really imagine what your life would have been like if you'd married him? Had his baby? As tragic as it is, maybe the miscarriage was the universe's way of protecting you and an innocent child." He held her gaze, his soft and filled with compassion.
