"You're terrible, you know that?" She pushed away from the door and strode toward him. Slipping her arms around his neck, she leaned forward to kiss him. "But seriously. Thank you again for today. For this entire weekend, really." Her eyes widened. "My penguin. I left it in the car."

"Don't worry. The same car will be coming to take us to the fundraiser. We'll get your penguin then."

She nodded.

"And stop thanking me." He adjusted his hold on her waist and tugged her closer. "I don't think you realize how much I like spending time with you."

Her smile was warm and genuine, and his heart suddenly started to beat like against his ribs like a caged animal. He wanted to ask her what would happen when they returned home, but he wasn't quite ready to ruin their time together just yet. Tonight, after the fundraiser when they were back here, just the two of them, he'd broach that topic. Until then, he was going to enjoy every second he had with her.
