The Self Proclaimed Harem Sovereign System

"Ugh, what's the time?" 

Waking up in the morning was one of the toughest jobs for anyone, especially for those going to university or college.

Lex was one such person who was a student at a university. In order to wake himself up, he set up multiple alarms. Despite that, the chances of him waking up were fifty-fifty.

'I gotta wake up or I am about to be late again,' Lex paused. He turned in bed once before sighing. 'Well, not like going to the university is going to do anything for me.'

He tossed in bed once again before feeling the need to rub one of his eyes. His eyelids flew halfway open and through blurred vision, he saw some numbers written in front of him.

[ 8:29 am ]

'Ahh, I am already too late. Guess there is no point in… wait what?!' Lex's eyes flew wide open.

He immediately sat up and stared at the numbers floating right in front of his eyes. The numbers were in the form of blue holograms.

'Ha… maybe staying up late to watch anime was not a good idea. Maybe I should have toned down on the fantasy stuff…'

Lex rubbed his eyes again. He expected the numbers to vanish after he finished but contrary to that, the numbers remained in front of him.

"Why are they still present there?" Lex questioned thin air.

[ Didn't you ask for the time? I simply showed you the time. ] A cute-sounding feminine voice spoke inside his head.

Lex blinked once. He blinked twice and continued to blink since it was a normal thing for a human to do.

'Only one way to find out whether I am dreaming.' Lex slowly raised his right hand to his face and pinched his right cheek.

He let go of it a minute later and pinched his left cheek. He released it as well. Both his cheeks reddened from the pinching.

'All right, this is the real world and I am not dreaming.' Lex calmly thought before standing up. 

He took a deep breath and walked up to his closet. A mirror was embedded in the closet which he used to see his reflection.

What stared back was a slightly overweight dull-looking twenty-year-old. Lex's black hair fell down his forehead. His eyes, a striking shade of blue, were currently hidden behind his hair.

"Same old me. I didn't reincarnate or transmigrate either…" Lex muttered to himself.

For someone who saw numbers floating in front of him and heard a voice in his head, Lex was acting way too calmly.

This was because when he was in his final years of high school, Lex used to imagine such scenarios multiple times just to escape reality.

It felt wonderful to imagine yourself as a strong reincarnated being with a power-up instead of a student who was soon about to go into a huge debt to graduate from a university.

Lex's university life hadn't been exciting either. He was simply one of those people shuffling in the background while trying to make ends meet.

[ Do you need help in telling whether this is a dream or not? ] The voice asked albeit a bit late.

"No need."

[ I see. This means that you must be fully awake and are not dreaming about having a beautiful girlfriend. ] 

"…"

No way did the voice just guess the dream he was having.

[ Now you are thinking how it would feel to be woken up while receiving a— ]

"Shut up!" Lex ordered, his face turning a bit red.

He had never told anyone about his fantasies. Hearing someone openly reveal them was slightly embarrassing to him.

"Now tell me, what are you?" Lex asked, raising his tone.

[ Hmm… let me search your memories to see what's the closest thing I can be. ] The voice replied.

"No, don't do that!" Lex shouted again in a panicked tone. If someone was going to go through his memories, he definitely wanted to use the 'delete memories' option!

Unfortunately, it was too late for him.

[ Ohhh, that's some nice things you have been searching for. A lot of POVs as well but nothing underage. Nothing disgusting as well though a few things barely make it to the borderline. ] The voice commented.

Lex didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Someone was commenting about his taste in cultured stuff… well, at least the voice considered him to have good taste.

[ Elves huh. Humans sure love elves. Cat girls are here too. Damn, gotta admit that you have some nice taste but none of these creatures exist here. Even if they do, I don't think you would be able to even get one of the more average ones to be your girlfriend. ]

"Oi, at least don't give me emotional damage…" Lex muttered through gritted teeth.

[ Hmm, above average size you got there. Only experience in women includes… damn, you almost lost your virginity. You would have failed the criteria then.

Lex didn't respond. The voice had just brought out something that should have stayed buried inside his mind.

[ Oh, so that's what happened. Never mind, you are still a virgin. You still fulfill the criteria. ] The voice said a few minutes later, a trace of pity clearly present in its voice.

"Criteria for what exactly?" Lex managed to ask before taking a deep breath. He tried to exercise control over his mind and bury the memories again.

Fortunately, his mind was soon diverted from that.

[ Ah right, I forgot what I was searching for. Regardless, the closest thing I could find was a system. You can call me a system. ] 

"Uh…" Lex didn't know how to respond to that. 

[ I shall name myself the 'World Domination System' ]

"That name is already taken."

[ Never mind! I shall be called the 'Strongest System' ]

"Sorry, it already exists."

[ What the fuck… Come on, it can't be that hard to have a cool-sounding name. Well, those names don't explain my functions anyway. Let me choose something related to my abilities. ]

"Whatever you say. Please don't take the names of already existing novels."

[ You can refer to me as the 'Supreme Harem God System' ]

"We are about to get copyrighted, aren't we?" Lex said in a hopeless tone.

[ Hey, I am trying my best here! You can call me the 'Pick Up Artist System' ]

"Already taken as well…"

[ What about 'My Vampire System' ]

"I thought you were going to choose something related to your abilities. Did you really look at my memories? Because if you did, you would know that those names are used in other novels."

[ Ahem. Let me think of something that is not taken already. ] The voice replied and went silent.

Lex on the other hand wondered whether he needed to go see a therapist. He might have believed the voice to be a system if it hadn't ventured into his perverted memories.

What kind of luck did he have to get such a system?

[ Finally thought of it! ] The voice suddenly exclaimed. [ You can call me the 'Perverted Host With A Wild Fantasy System' ]

"…"

Lex did not know how to reply to that statement.

[ I was joking, you know. You can call me the 'Harem Sovereign System' ]

"After thinking for that long, that was the best you could come up with?" Lex asked in a judging tone.

He didn't judge people in most cases but after spending that much time to think for a name, the system had come up with something quite generic.

[ Ugh, never mind my name. Let's just get started with things. ]

"Woah, wait a second. This is Earth and getting a harem here is not that easy, especially in this goddamn country I am living in." Lex informed the self-proclaimed 'Harem Sovereign' system.

[ That is indeed true. There's nothing magical about this place either plus elves and cat girls don't exist here… ] The system fell deep in thought.

Lex also agreed with it since all of the stated reasons were quite valid for him.

[ Then there's only one thing that I can do! ] The system suddenly exclaimed. [ Let's go to another world!]

"Huh?" That was all Lex could say before an obsidian black light surrounded his body.

The light spread throughout the room for a minute and formed a magic circle below Lex's feet. The circle covered almost the entirety of his room and radiated with a black glow.

[ Let's see which world we should go into… ]

Author note: Hello everyone! This is my first time trying to write something and I am quite excited. This novel will be a lot of fun and I will ensure you all have a lot of fun as well (if you know, you know hehe).

Though this novel revolves around a harem, that is not the only main plot of the story. It will include many elements but will start with a slightly slice of life approach.
